Two Different Geneologies Of Jesus, In The Bible... Which Is Right?

Common Sense Commentary:

 Approximately 2000 years after the Creation in Genesis 1, and another 2000 years before the birth of Jesus, the human race had just failed, at Babel, in its contradiction of God's command, and He destroyed their works and effort to unite the entire human race under one government and one proud name. So God scattered them to the four winds. It was then, that God called out from among the scattered nations a single human being, and told him, Abram, to leave his people and go to a distant location which God appointed and where God would build an entire nation through this one man. "Abram's name meant, "Father Of Many", but God changed and expanded it to "Abraham".... "Father Of Many Multitudes". God promised Abraham that He would make of him a "great nation" and his name would be great, and that God would "bless" Abraham and, "In thee shall all families of the earth be blessed." Gen.12:3. This promise was a prophecy of the world-wide blessing of the "seed" of Abraham ... Jesus. This O.T. verse is quoted to the Jews 2000 years later by the Apostle Peter in Acts 3:25.

There are two genealogies of Jesus in the New Testament. The first is in Chapter 1 of the gospel according to Matthew. The second begins in Luke 3:23. Matthew presents Jesus to the Jews as the prophesied Messiah of the Old Testament. Luke presents Jesus to the Gentiles as the crucified Savior. The Genealogy in Matt.1 begins with Abraham, father of the Jews, and goes forward up to and through King David and then to his son, Solomon, by Bathsheba, and continues through a total of 39 "begats" (births) or generations, the last of which is "Joseph, the husband of Mary", and then ends with one virgin birth ... Jesus, who is number 40, the number of testing. This is Joseph's genealogy and is the Jewish, legal, Kingly lineage, and placed Jesus as the "legal", Jewish rightful heir to the throne of King David.  Because of Roman, occupational rule, Joseph was disallowed to the throne of David, but the right to it passed on to Joseph's "legal", though not biological, son ... Jesus. He was considered, by the Jews, to be the son of Joseph. "And they said, Is not this Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? how is it then that he saith, I came down from heaven?" Jn.6:42. Jesus grew up in Joseph and Mary's home and was known locally as Joseph's son. But he was not Jesus' biological father.  Read carefully Matt.1:18, "Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise; when his mother was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost."


The genealogy in Luke 3:23-38 which begins with Jesus and works backward through Nathan, another son of King David, then on through David back to Abraham ... but doesn't stop there. It continues all the way back to Adam and ends with Adam's Father ... God. If you number these generations with God as number 1, Jesus is number 77 ... the number of perfection. This genealogy is the true, natural, biological lineage of Jesus. These two genealogies cross paths twice. They cross at Salathiel (Matt.1:12 / Luke 3:27) and again at King David (Matt.1:6 / Lk.3:31). So King David was the Great Grandson of Ruth and Boaz and a common, distant Grandfather of both Mary and Joseph. So Jesus had a double claim to the throne of King David.

Notice Matt.1:16, "And Jacob begat Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom (Mary) was born Jesus." Every other generation in this genealogy was a "begat". Not so with Joseph and Jesus. Also notice Luke 3:23, "And Jesus ... being (as was supposed) the son of Joseph, which was ... of Heli...." The words preceding ".... of Heli" are "the son of Heli", but these two words, "the son" are in italics which means they were not in the original manuscripts but were added, supposedly for clarity. But Matt.1:16 says someone named "Jacob begat Joseph the husband of Mary." Joseph's being "of Heli" was a Jewish, legal relationship to his father-in-law, Mary's father. Women did not have the same legal standing as men, at that time, in that country, but their rights passed through their husbands.  Also notice that even in these genealogies of Jesus, both legal and biological, there were no perfect people ... including Abraham and King David. Abraham lied to the Pharaoh and said his wife was his sister. David took another man's wife and when she became pregnant, David sent the husband to be killed. The first child born to them was illegitimately conceived and died under the cloud of David's sin. And though judgement fell upon David and Bathsheba, God had mercy in the midst of His judgement and gave them another son ... Solomon.  There was also Thamar, the woman who prostituted herself with Judah ... and Judah paid for her services. Within those genealogies is a Moabiteish (not Jewish) woman, Ruth, and many very sinful people in Jesus' genealogy. So what am I saying? There are no perfect or deserving people among Jesus' ancestors or among ours either who deserve to be saved.

Jesus who did not need saving but was Himself the Saviour, was perfect. He was the extension of God from heaven and came, in His holy perfection to become a sin offering for us, crucified, nailed to that cross .... in our place. RB

Common Sense Commentary: This blog is dedicated to my Korean War Buddy, Jim (Leroy) Storey's brother-in-law, Earl Flat, Jim's sister, Darlene's husband. Earl was a WWII Marine, in which some of the most ferocious battles in the history of war were fought. Earl has earned his globe and anchor with lifetime scars to his body, mind and heart. He has thereby won his right to "Hero" status before the citizens of the United States and it's government. Neither Earl, nor I, nor you, nor any other soul has "earned" the right to redemption's salvation through Jesus Christ's willful and sacrificial death on the old rugged cross, for our sins. "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast."  Eph.2:8-9. And though it is impossible that neither Earl nor any other Christian can "earn" eternal salvation, by good works, he and every other person who sincerely repents and trusts Christ as Savior, is accepted by our Creator, God, into heaven. Earl has acknowledged his faith in Christ and did so again in his phone conversation with Bob, quoted below. These are hard days for Earl and Darlene. Please pray for them both. God has a lot of blogs for you to write yet!  You can't go.  Rob, our son, and I went to visit Darlene and Earl last Friday.  Earl is not doing well at all and the Hospice nurse told the family last night that he could go any time.  He is under heavy sedation and has frequent WWII battles Darlene told us.  Last week-end he was alert, eating well, and happy to see us.  To involve him (not knowing what to expect) I took Jim's dress blue jacket along with all his metals and ribbons to get Earl to show us how they should be placed.  Being the true Marine that he has always been, when I took the cover off Jim's blouse Earl got to his feet and gave a tearful salute.  It's a moment we shall always remember.  The chaplain for the Marine group came over, which was nice, and he and Earl showed just where each metal goes. Rob and I left Sunday evening for home, but before we said our goodbyes Earl said he wanted to have a prayer, and he offered the sweetest prayer asking God to protect Rob and me on our trip home.  I called him Monday night when I got home to tell him God heard his prayer as we had had no trouble getting home.  His response was,"good, and he also forgives".  Love you, Brother. U.S. Marine Corps veteran Earl Flatt remembers that 66 years ago the assault on the small island of Iwo Jima was expected to last less than a week.

“We thought it would last four to five days,” Flatt said Tuesday.

The 36-day battle resulted in more than 23,000 U.S. casualties, including 6,503 killed, and is known as one of the bloodiest battles of World War II.

Having survived that battle, Flatt told an audience in the House Chambers of Louisiana’s Old State Capitol that he considers himself one of the luckiest people in the world.

“Folks, it wasn’t easy,” said Flatt, who served with the 26th Regiment, 5th Division. “We learned nothing is easy in war.”

Flatt said more than 60,000 Marines invaded the tiny volcanic island of about 8 square miles — “smaller than some of the subdivisions in Baton Rouge” — on Feb. 19, 1945.

Though outnumbered, the 22,000 Japanese soldiers, in deep bunkers in a complex network of underground tunnels, put up a fight that resulted in more Marine casualties than enemy soldiers occupying the island.

All but 262 of those Japanese soldiers either died in battle or by their own hands.

Flatt proudly recalled his experience at the second annual “Keep the Spirit of ’45 Alive” event, honoring the 66th anniversary of Japan’s surrender on Aug. 14, 1945, bringing an end to World War II.

Land Grabbing Feds Out Of Control .... Now They Want Texas Land

Common Sense Commentary: All land in Texas, that is not privately owned, is owned by the State of Texas not Obama, his administration or the Federal Government. They may claim it, but if Harry Reid or Obama want to send heavily armed BLM agents into Texas to confiscate that land or kill the cattle grazing on it, they will discover how many Texans are experienced hunters with scoped deer rifles. There are more rifles in Texas than in the U.S. Army. Yes, the Feds have drones, artillery, and jet fighters, but Texas has all that covered with Good Ole Boy Texans;  and some of them are flying those jets, operating those drones and firing that artillery,... right here in Texas. Our Governor, who is not as smooth tongued as Obama, is a whole lot more man and will do what he says.  The U.S. Constitution specifically states that all powers not clearly given to the Federal Government , belong to the states. Not only does the federal government already own “too much land,” Perry told Fox News, the feds are “out of control.”

“At issue are thousands of acres of land on the Texas side of the Red River, along the border between Texas and Oklahoma. Officials recently have raised concern that the BLM might be looking at claiming 90,000 acres of land as part of the public domain,” the Fox News report states.

Texas officials are raising alarm that the Bureau of Land Management, on the heels of its dust-up with Nevada rancher Cliven Bundy, might be eyeing a massive land grab in northern Texas.

The under-the-radar issue has caught the attention of Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott, who fired off a letter on Tuesday to BLM Director Neil Kornze saying the agency “appears to be threatening” the private property rights of “hard- working Texans.”

“Decisions of this magnitude must not be made inside a bureaucratic black box,” wrote Abbott, also a Republican gubernatorial candidate.

The agency, though, argues that any land in question was long ago determined to be public property.

“The BLM is categorically not expanding Federal holdings along the Red River,” a BLM spokeswoman said in a written statement late Tuesday afternoon.

The spokeswoman referred to a 140-acre plot “determined to be public land in 1986” – an apparent reference to a 1986 federal court case. Breitbart.com, which reported Monday on the Texas land dispute, reported that a Texas landowner lost 140 acres to BLM in that case, and the agency is now using that decision as precedent to pursue more property.

Tommy Henderson, the rancher involved in that case, told Fox News' Greta Van Susteren on "On the Record" Tuesday that the BLM was "talking about taking another 90,000 acres by using my court case as the precedent to seize the other land...

"They won't talk to us or be straight with us as to what their plans are," Henderson said. "...So I have continued to pay for this land or the federal government would seize everything else I had."

According to background materials put out by Texas Republican Rep. Mac Thornberry’s office, the BLM is revisiting its management plan for lands including those along a 116-mile stretch of the Red River. His office said the possibility has been discussed of opening that land up for “hunting, recreation and management."

Gene Hall of the Texas Farm Bureau told Van Susteren, "we have seen an aggressive overreach by the federal government and in more than one instance, if you have got an agency like this that's very well funded with a lot of people involved, then you shouldn't be surprised if they are going to overreach and extend that aggressive approach."

Abbott, in his letter to the agency, said “it is not at all clear what legal basis supports the BLM’s claim of federal ownership over private property.” He said private landowners have cultivated the property “for generations.”

The debate comes on the heels of a tense standoff earlier this month in Nevada, after BLM tried to round up cattle owned by rancher Cliven Bundy – the product of a long-running dispute over unpaid grazing fees. Hundreds of states’ rights supporters, some of them armed, showed up to protest, and BLM back off citing safety concerns.

In the Texas matter, the Supreme Court incorporated the Red River as part of the border with Oklahoma nearly a century ago.

Congress further clarified the boundaries of the two states in 2000.

It’s unclear how seriously BLM might be looking at laying claim to additional boundary land.

BLM said it is merely in the “initial stages of developing options for management of public lands,” as part of a “transparent process with several opportunities for public input.”

BLM Field Manager Stephen Tryon, in a March 17 letter to Thornberry, said officials would eventually look to “ascertain the boundary” between federal and private land and acknowledged residents’ concerns that new surveys could “create cloud to their private property title.”

But he said no new surveys are currently planned, and reiterated that there are no federal claims to Texas land “as defined by multiple rulings of the U.S. Supreme Court.”

Tocqueville: Maybe The Best Observer/Commentator Of American Exceptionalism

Common Sense Commentary: In my opinion Tocqueville was the most perceptive and accurate non-American observer/commentator of American exceptionalism in our entire history. He was even more believable, as a French Historian, and not an American writing about America. What he wrote is what America was at the time of his commentary. Sadly, we have a more glorious greatness in our past than in our present. Tocqueville even forecast, in the early 1800s some of what has since developed in the America he grew to love and exalt. On APRIL 16, 1859, French historian Alexis de Tocqueville died.

After nine months of traveling the United States, he wrote Democracy in America in 1835, which has been described as "the most comprehensive...analysis of character and society in America ever written."Alexis de Tocqueville wrote: "Upon my arrival in the United States the religious aspect of the country was the first thing that struck my attention...
In France I had almost always seen the spirit of religion and the spirit of freedom marching in opposite directions. The vices of those who govern and the ineptitude of those governed would soon bring it to ruin and...revert to its abasement to one single master."

Common Sense Commentary:  This "High hopes in Mile-High City" story from the L.A. Times is more "The Height Of Irony" or  "The Height Of Ignorance" or "The Height Of Folly" than "High Hopes". The devil himself couldn't devise a more devious and conflicting celebration  for EASTER week-end (April 19-20) than this Sodom and Gomorrah scene in Denver, U.S.A. April 19-20... RB

My Commentary:

A false chruch is a false bride of Christ, a "harlot" church. The "Mother" of false, harlot churches  is the "MOTHER OF HARLOTS", and their false worship and false professions are worse than common sin, they  are "ABOMINATIONS" because they are "spiritual, eternal" lies which mislead the souls of people into eternal separation from God known as the "Second Death" and Lake of Fire.

"And upon her forehead was a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH." Rev.17:5.

We are nearing, not only the world wide establishment of Mystery Babylon, but the then final destruction of her with all her evil and contradictory religious power and influence upon the earth. 

"And a mighty angel took up a stone like a great millstone, and cast it into the sea, saying, Thus with violence shall that great city Babylon be thrown down, and shall be found no more at all." Rev.18:21.

Mystery Babylon's religious "iniquity" is already in full bloom and ripe for the Anti-Christ's picking as his unholy religious partner in dominating the entire world during the Great Tribulation.

"For the mystery of iniquity doth already work...." 2 Thess.2:7. 
She stands in the wings like a bride awaiting her groom and their marriage of unholy union.


However, before Babylon's mystery of iniquity shall become more obvious to the entire world, It now seems plain to me that a Sodom and Gomorrah type atmosphere has arisen from its ashes and is heralding the coming of Anti-Christ, with his Harlot, Babylon Bride, rather than Jesus Christ who is soon coming for his own Bride Believers. But, of course, Anti-Christ shall come first and represent himself to be Christ and his bride to be Christ's Church. 

"And judgment is turned away backward, and justice standeth afar off: for truth is fallen in the street, and equity cannot enter." Isa. 59:14.  RB

 THE REAL TURTLE STORY...

Nevada rancher Cliven Bundy performed a remarkable public service for America over the last couple weeks.

He exposed the utter ruthlessness, brutishness and Gestapo tactics of the federal government in dealing with honest, hard-working Americans who live off the land – our land.

Claiming Bundy’s cattle ranching operation was endangering desert tortoises, the Bureau of Land Management treated him like he was Ted Bundy. I take that back. The serial rapist, mass murderer and necrophile got due process.

When Cliven Bundy’s neighbors turned out to support him, as good American neighbors should, the BLM sent in helicopters, four-wheel-drive vehicles and an estimated 200 armed officers to deal with the cowboy and his family, threatening another Ruby Ridge or Waco-style slaughter.

But I don’t think it was about tortoises. No, sir. In fact, with all the gear and manpower the BLM brought to Clark County to round up the cowboy and his cattle, they did more environmental damage to the area than Cliven Bundy ever could have dreamed of doing.

This was about something else.

It’s always about something else.

Maybe – just maybe – it had to do with another Nevadan by the name of Harry Reid.

It seems the Senate majority leader has been doing favors for a Chinese energy giant ENN, which has plans to build massive solar facilities in that area – tortoises or no tortoises.

It seems the director of BLM is Reid’s former senior adviser, Neil Kornze. BLM had posted on its website documents stating the agency wanted Bundy’s cattle off of the land his family has worked for over 140 years in order to make way for solar panel power stations. The agency removed it when the standoff became national news.

“Non-Governmental Organizations have expressed concern that the regional mitigation strategy for the Dry Lake Solar Energy Zone utilizes Gold Butte as the location for offsite mitigation for impacts from solar development, and that those restoration activities are not durable with the presence of trespass cattle,” the document states.

That would be the Chinese solar plant – the Management, or BLM.

They were getting a mega-deal. On April 3, 3012, Bloomberg reported Chinese billionaire Wang Yusuo, one of China’s richest citizens and the founder of ENN, had teamed up with Harry Reid to win incentives including land 113 miles southeast of Las Vegas that ENN sought to buy for $4.5 million, less than one-eighth of the land’s $38.6 million assessed value.

But the story gets better. Harry Reid’s son, Rory Reid, was the chief representative for a Chinese energy firm planning to build a $5-billion solar plant on public land in Laughlin, Nev.

A Reuters report stated: “[Reid] and his oldest son, Rory, are both involved in an effort by a Chinese energy giant, ENN Energy Group, to build a $5 billion solar farm and panel manufacturing plant in the southern Nevada desert. Reid has been one of the project’s most prominent advocates, helping recruit the company during a 2011 trip to China and applying his political muscle on behalf of the project in Nevada. His son, a lawyer with a prominent Las Vegas firm that is representing ENN, helped it locate a 9,000-acre (3,600-hectare) desert site that it is buying well below appraised value from Clark County, where Rory Reid formerly chaired the county commission.”

And there’s an even bigger story of scandal and corruption still beneath this show of force by the BLM, orchestrated by Harry Reid.

On Jan. 20, 2013, WND warned Chinese government-backed economists were proposing a plan to allow Chinese corporations to set up “development zones” in the United States as part of a plan proposed by the Chinese government to convert into equity the more than $1 trillion in U.S. Treasury debt owned by the Chinese government.

The next day, Jan. 21, 2013, WND documented the Obama administration had begun to allow China to acquire major ownership interests in oil and natural gas resources across the USA.

The first major intrusion of China in the U.S. oil and natural gas market can be traced to the Obama administration decision in October 2009 to allow state-owned Chinese energy giant China Offshore Oil Corporation, or CNOOC, to purchase a multi-million-dollar stake in 600,000 acres of South Texas oil and gas fields.

By allowing China to have equity interests in U.S. oil and natural gas production, the Obama administration reversed a policy of the Bush administration that in 2005 blocked China on grounds of national security concerns from an $18.4-billion deal in which China planned to purchase California-based Unocal Corp.

China’s two, giant, state-owned oil companies acquiring oil and natural gas interests in the USA are CNOOC, 100 percent owned by the government of the People’s Republic of China, and Sinopec Group, the largest shareholder of Sinopac Corporation, an investment company owned by the government of the People’s Republic of China, incorporated in China in 1998, largely to acquire and operate oil and natural gas interests worldwide.

On March 6, 2012, the Wall Street Journal compiled a state-by-state list of the $17 billion in oil and natural gas equity interests CNOOC and Sinopec have acquired in the United States since 2010.

•Colorado: CNOOC gained a one-third stake in 800,000 acres in northeast Colorado and southwest Wyoming in a $1.27-billion pact with Chesapeake Energy Corporation.

•Louisiana: Sinopec has a one-third interest in 265,000 acres in the Tuscaloosa Marine Shale after a broader $2.5-billion deal with Devon Energy.

•Michigan: Sinopec gained a one-third interest in 350,000 acres in a larger $2.5-billion deal with Devon Energy.

•Ohio: Sinopec acquired a one-third interest in Devon Energy’s 235,000 Utica Shale acres in a larger $2.5-billion deal.

•Oklahoma: Sinopec has a one-third interest in 215,000 acres in a broader $2.5-billion deal with Devon Energy.

•Texas: CNOOC acquired a one-third interest in Chesapeake Energy’s 600,000 acres in the Eagle Ford Shale in a $2.16-billion deal.

•Wyoming: CNOOC has a one-third stake in northeast Colorado and southeast Wyoming after a $1.27-billion pact with Chesapeake Energy. Sinopec gained a one-third interest in Devon Energy’s 320,000 acres as part of a larger $2.5-billion deal.

On March 6, 2012, in a separate story, the Wall Street Journal described that China’s strategy implemented since 2010 by Fu Chengyu, who has served as chairman of both CNOOC and Sinopec, involved the following components: “Seek minority states, play a passive role, and, in a nod to U.S. regulators, keep Chinese personnel at arm’s length from advanced U.S. technology.”

But back to Cliven Bundy and Harry Reid.

Remember Solyndra?

ENN intended to create solar energy farms on the Nevada land, despite the nearly 50 percent plunge in solar panel prices globally in the previous 15 months that led to the bankruptcy of solar equipment maker Solyndra LLC, which had received approximately $535 million in U.S. government loan guarantees.

And, yes, money exchanged hands between ENN and Reid. The Chinese energy company contributed $40,650 individually and through its political action committee to Sen. Reid over the previous three election cycles.

Reid was recruited by ENN during a 2011 trip he took to China with nine other U.S. senators, supposedly to invite Chinese investment in the United States. The Senate group accompanying Reid on his 2011 trip to China included six other Democrats and three Republicans: Richard Shelby, R-Ala.; Barbara Boxer, D-Calif.; Dick Durbin, D-Ill.; Mike Enzi, R-Wyo.; Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y.; Frank Lautenberg, D-N.J.; Johnny Isakson, R-Ga.; Jeff Merkley, D-Ore.; and Michael Bennet, D-Colo.

Are Palestinians and Philistines The Same People?

Common Sense Commentary: It is totally impossible to explain the shifting tides of history. Changes over a period of hundreds of years, causes of conflicts, wars and changing borders. That is far too complicated to know or understand all of the details. History is written by the winners of wars and changes of borders ... not by the losers of them. That said, here is my understanding of the subjects of my title, "Are Palestinians And Philistines The Same People?".

"Palestine" did not even exist until 137 AD.  It began when Roman Emperor Hadrian defeated rebellious Jews in a series of wars, and murdered close to two million of them. He then erased the name "Judaea" and "Israel"  from the early maps. He wanted to do away with the history of the Jews ever being in the Holy Land. The new name, He gave the Jew's homeland, which they had been driven from, was "Syria Palaestina" which, the latter, is a rendering of "Philistine", but who knows why he named it that.  Maybe as an insult to the Jews whom he hated or maybe he gave that land to the Jew's arch enemy the Philistines. After that change, no Jews were allowed to enter the renamed country, "Syria Palaestina".  Over the following hundreds of years, after the fall of Rome, Jews began to slowly return to their original homeland, though persecuted by the newer inhabitants called Palestinians. The Palestinians were and are a mixture of primarily Philistines, immigrants, displaced persons, Arabs and from various other Middle Eastern countries. Palaestina, in the absence of Jews, became a catch all for wandering, homeless, exiled, refugee and renagade people. That small portion of God's original, and larger gift, of a homeland to the Jews, is still in effect and always will be. So the answer is, no they are not exactly the same, though there is Philistine DNA in the mix. Hadrian really complicated matters by renaming the Jewish homeland.  However, it is understandable that the modern Palestinians who had lived their entire lives, and their forebears, for centuries, in that land, considered it their own. It was thinly settled when the restored nation of Israel was established by the U.N. in 1948. That is one reason the U.N. saw fit to send the surviving Jews, of Germany, and Europe in general, back there. they had no other nation. Another reason was that the Arab nations had been on the German's side of WWII and were not in the good graces of the super powers in control of the U.N. at that time. This was before Arabs became rich and powerful on oil. If the Palestinians had not been stirred up by the Arab, Muslim leadership surrounding Israel, they could have worked out an agreement which would have benefited both Palestinians and Jews, but it was a hopeless situation. Today Israel looks like the Garden Of Eden compared to the surrounding lands. I sympathize with the relatively few Palestinians who, because of war and conflict, left their homes, but the fact is, God gave the land to the Jews for an everlasting covenant. A covenant cannot be changed and they did not leave the land willingly but were driven out of it.

The renewed establishment of the nation of Israel in 1948 confirms the fact, and it is commonly known, that Israel had once occupied that same land... as a separate nation.  It was not a beginning of the nation but a returning to it, to a much smaller portion of land, within their old borders. The U.N. dared not give back the land mass the Jewish people had previously occupied which God had given it "forever". There was too much Arab, Muslim and other anti-Semitic opposition. 

Here is what God told Moses, who had disobeyed Him by double striking the rock, and thereby lost his opportunity to enter the Jewish promised land. He would see it from a distant mountain-top and then die there, but the children of Israel would enter their "Promised Land" in the land of Canaan and remain until their final dispersion from it by the Romans. Even that was within God's permissive will and probably His perfect will, for His own purposes,  at the time, but His covenant with Israel still stands. The land is theirs.

The Covenant Promise:
"And the LORD spake unto Moses that selfsame day, saying, Get thee up into this mountain Abarim, unto mount Nebo, which is in the land of Moab, that is over against Jericho; and behold the land of Canaan, which I give unto the children of Israel for a possession:  And die in the mount whither thou goest up, and be gathered unto thy people; as Aaron thy brother died in mount Hor, and was gathered
unto thy people; as Aaron thy brother died in mount Hor, and was gathered unto his people: Because ye trespassed against me among the children of Israel at the waters of Meribah-Kadesh, in the wilderness of Zin; because ye sanctified me not in the midst of the children of Israel. Yet thou shalt see the land before thee; but thou shalt not go thither unto the land which I give the children of Israel."
