Today we complain if the Super Market doesn't have our favorite brand of something... but they have 100,000 other items.  Nobody eats fat today for fear of getting even more overweight or cholesterol in our veins. At 88 I can remember when men ate a slice of fat with every bite of steak, didn't get fat and didn't die of clogged veins. They worked 10-12 hours a day... or more... were soaked in sweat dawn to dark, were wiry thin and tough as tails. Every job was long and hard except that fat banker's.  In those days if a man didn't give his chair to a standing woman, cursed in front of women or children, wouldn't work or keep his word, or wouldn't stand for our passing flag or national anthem, he wouldn't last long in that town. In the summer of 1946, at 16, I was harvesting wheat 13-14 hours a day, bathing in ice water under a windmill, and sleeping in a barn from Happy, Texas to Hastings, Nebraska.  I thumbed my way between jobs and rode in the back of a cattle truck with what the cows left there, in a long haul ambulance with a dead man in the back, with a drunk in Oklahoma and worst of all with a pervert in Kansas.  Those wheat farmer women were the best cooks in the world and their husbands the best men in the world.  There I go, chasing 70 to 80 year old rabbits again ... Here are a few 170-180 year old pioneer, survival recipes ... RB

The pioneers’ recipes were not ones that came from being able to shop at a large grocery store, where you can buy virtually anything.

Their recipes – or “receipts” as they were called back then — were born out of necessity, having one pot and one skillet plus the need to use ALL of the leftovers from previous meals.

You see, when they set out in a wagon to cross the seemingly endless prairie, it was decision time. They had to decide what they were going to take with them and what they were going to leave behind.

They had to take all the tools to build a log cabin. They had to take all the hardware, as well, to build their cabin. They had to take nails, hinges, screws, wire and everything else. There was nowhere to just stop and buy it.

So, the wagon was packed to the brim. Every square inch was accounted for, and then some.

Many had one or two cast iron pots and one or two skillets or frying pans — and that was it.

The recipes that were their favorites were ones that fed everyone and were easy to make even if you were short a couple of different ingredients each time you made it.

Most of the time, they were cooking over an open flame. So, things that had gravy or liquids such as soups and stews were a favorite. The reason: the heat of open flame cooking is unpredictable. You had to be sure you didn’t burn the food. Oils were scarce. So, liquids, soups, and gravies were far more tolerant of erratic heat sources, and they burned a lot less.

Ready to learn how to look like the pioneers? Here are a few of their favorite recipes that you can make in your cabin or modern-day homestead:

(Do remember, these recipes were their optimal recipe. Most of the time they were lacking one or more ingredients and therefore had to substitute or leave it out.)

1. Creamy Chicken Soup

4 pounds of chicken (can be made with three pounds if need be).
3 quarts of creek or well-temperature water (room temperature is fine if you’re in a modern home).
1 tablespoon salt.
6 peppercorns (or 1/4 teaspoon of black or white pepper).
1 medium onion finely chopped.
2 cups whole milk (can be substituted with cream).
1 tablespoon of cornstarch
1 tablespoon of butter (not needed if using cream).
2 eggs beaten well. Cut the cleaned, deboned chicken into bite-sized pieces.

4 Survival Recipes That Kept The Pioneers Alive On Their Westward TrekPut your chicken and the bones into your pot with your water and salt. Bring it to a boil and then slow boil it until the chicken is tender.

Remove the chicken bones and use them for bone meal, dog food, compost and other uses.

Add in your peppercorns and onions. Let it slow boil for 10 minutes.

Put your milk or cream and cornstarch into another pot or skillet. Let it come to a slow boil and stir until it’s nice and thick. Add your butter if you’re using it, and season it to taste with whatever you have (that’s really how they did it).

Slowly add your well-beaten eggs into the milk and cornstarch. Stir until mixed and smooth.

Pour the cornstarch mixture into the soup kettle and stir until it’s well-mixed. Then, stir and cook for two more minutes and serve.

2. Fat Pork and Mormon Gravy

The settlers very often made what’s called Mormon gravy, named after Mormon missionaries who made it as a staple.

It’s simple and yes, it’s a heart attack waiting to happen. But, man, oh man, does it taste good.

8-10 thick slices of fatty pork or thick-cut bacon strips.
6 tablespoons of meat drippings.
4 tablespoons of flour.
2 cups of whole milk. Salt and pepper. Cook your meat in a cast iron (preferably) frying pan until crisp on both sides.

Measure out your six tablespoons of drippings from the drippings in the pan, and pour the rest in your drippings saver container for other foods later.

With your measured drippings, stir in your flour and milk, and keep stirring until it’s thick and smooth.

Serve your meat with the gravy poured over it or over the top of biscuits or bread.

3. English Whirligig

This was traditionally made with black currents. However, it can be made with nearly any tart berries or even fruit such as cranberries or sour apples.

2/3 cup of honey.
2 tablespoons of flour.
1 teaspoon of cinnamon.
1/2 teaspoon of grated nutmeg.
1/2 teaspoon of salt.
1 cup of hot water.
3 cups of black currants (you may substitute other tart berries or fruits). Add your honey, flour, spices and your salt into your hot water. Stir until they are all well dissolved. Then cook this mixture until thick. Be sure to stir often.

Put your currents in a frying pan and cover it with the thick mixture. Cook it on a rack above the coals for 20 minutes.

Let cool so that it is nice and firm. Then dish it up.

4 Survival Recipes That Kept The Pioneers Alive On Their Westward Trek the pioneers would sometimes make a topping for this of whipped cream if it was a birthday or holiday. However, most of the time they ate it as described above.

4. Potato Pancakes

There are a number of recipes around for these. But this is the true settlers/pioneers recipe as it was brought over by a settler from Austria who became rather famous for them in what would later become Kansas City, Missouri.

6 large potatoes.
2 teaspoons salt.
3/4 cups of whole milk.
2 eggs.
1 cup of flour. Lard that has been pre-strained of any pieces. If you want them with the skins on the potatoes as most pioneers ate them, then wash them and grate them to a medium-sized shredding. If you want them skinless, peel them and grate them.

Mix them with your salt, eggs, milk, and flour.

Spoon the mix into the hot lard in a frying pan. They will flatten out by themselves. If not, flatten them a bit.

Fry until they are golden brown on both sides.

Final Thoughts

Much of the time, the pioneers didn’t have the luxury of eating what they wanted when they wanted it. They ate what they had.

If a family had a ton of blackberries nearby, then they would have several blackberry recipes they would use all the time. The same would go with any food that was plentiful, whether it was deer, carrots or cherries.

Each of the above recipes were favorites that the pioneers brought over with them from their old countries. They had to adapt them to what was available. But, they stayed as true to them as possible.

Climate Change Alarmism Is ‘Garbage In, Garbage Out,’ Retired NASA Physicist Says

HOUSTON—Unvalidated climate models that don’t correspond with physical data and the requirements of the scientific method contribute to unfounded climate alarmism, a retired NASA physicist said at the Heartland Institute’s recent America First Energy Conference.

Since America’s national security depends in part on energy security, unsubstantiated claims about global warming that prevent policymakers from making “rational decisions” with regard to the development of U.S. energy resources have become a national security threat, said Hal Doiron, a 16-year NASA veteran.

The “propaganda” underpinning climate alarmism is “causing tremendous political bottlenecks” that prevent government officials from “doing the right thing” on energy, he said.

Doiron, who helped develop the Apollo Lunar Module’s landing dynamics software during NASA’s moon missions, also expressed concern that the U.S. military has been directly affected by climate alarmist claims separated from sound science.

He criticized the Navy for “preparing for something that is unreasonable and would cost too much money” in the form of “extreme sea-level rise,” which has not been borne out by rigorous scientific study.

Doiron defines unvalidated climate models as those that do not agree with physical data. Public policy and military planning should be based only on models validated by physical data, he said.

“At NASA, we have a policy: You can’t make a design decision on a spacecraft or rocket that is not validated,” he said. “You don’t make critical decisions based on ‘garbage in, garbage out.’ Yet our government has been doing that with respect to climate alarm, because too many academics in universities are writing papers, drawing conclusions from models that don’t agree with physical data.”

Doiron is part of a group called “The Right Climate Stuff,” which includes engineers and scientists from across generations who have taken part in NASA’s most high-profile missions dating back to Apollo.

The group has produced its own “rigorous, earth surface temperature model using conservation-of-energy principles” that operates similarly to the way the surface and internal temperature of a spacecraft is analyzed, the Right Climate Stuff team explains on its website.

The reports produced from the analysis provide more “realistic projections” of the rise in the earth’s surface temperature over the next 150 years that show severe anti-fossil fuel regulations are not justified, Doiron and other former NASA team members contend.

“The scientific method requires that your hypothesis and theories be confirmed by physical data,” he said. “Computer models are not physical data, although I think many in academia don’t understand that.”

When unvalidated models are compared with validated models based on physical evidence, the validated models predict much less global warming, Doiron said. Moreover, the fact that unvalidated models often don’t agree with each other should be a “big, red flag.”

The retired NASA physicist is calling for U.S. policymakers to establish official data on two key metrics; specifically, “the true sensitivity of surface temperature to greenhouse gases” and a “reasonable projection of greenhouse emissions and [the] concentrations rise in our atmosphere.”

Doiron and his team have developed “a new metric” called “transient climate sensitivity,” which measures how much warming can be seen with a doubling of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere in the “way that it’s actually happening,” based on a “very small amount of [carbon dioxide] each year.”

That’s something that can be measured and verified against available physical data, he said. But because policymakers, including military planners, are not operating from reasonable projections, they are not in a position to adequately plan for the future, Doiron cautioned.

Another way climate change alarmism has worked to undermine America’s national security standing is by consuming too much of the military budget at the expense of military readiness, a top naval commander said during the panel discussion.

Adm. Thomas Hayward, who retired from the Navy as chief of naval operations and a member of the Joint Chiefs of Staff after serving as commander of the 7th Fleet and commander in chief of the Pacific Fleet, also addressed the Heartland Institute’s energy conference and sounded concerns.

For the past six to eight years, Hayward said, climate change has been given “a higher priority” than the readiness of the Navy’s fleet. During that time, the Defense Department has spent $100 billion on “just climate change,” while the Navy has spent “$58 billion chasing what is called the ‘green fleet.’”

That means many Navy vessels are using biofuels, but Hayward wonders how many ports around the world are equipped to accommodate Navy vessels that rely on a high percentage of biofuels, and he worries how that would work in a combat situation.

And sure enough it did "change" ... again.  His witch doctor predictions of eternal heat reversed back to cooler.... again.  Its called Natural Weather Variations  and has been alternating from hot to warmer to cooler to colder and back to hotter for at least 6000 years.

Some scientists believe we will see global cooling sooner than global warming. I believe we will see both in their own turn, as God sees fit.

Here, on the ground, people seem so important and predominant from a point bank view, standing next to each other talking about our universe, our earth and our high level of technology.  But looking down from an airplane, just two miles up, we are so small we can't even be seen. What I am saying is that a brain the size of a cantaloupe is, on a universal dimension, incapable of affecting it, or even the physical earth, to any great extent. We can affect ourselves, those people and things around us but our loudest shout and biggest bang, a nuclear bomb cannot be heard or seen from the moon, our closest neighbor.  Men might become capable of destroying all the people and cities on earth, but from the moon the earth would still look the same. God will one day obliterate it, but men never will ... not with carbon which makes green things grow.

So the old preacher turns his heart to heaven and prays to his God who is always listening ... and watching ...   "Let my mouth be filled with thy praise and with thy honor all the day. Cast me not off in the time of old age; forsake me not when my strength faileth... when I am old and grey headed, O God, forsake me not; until I have shewed thy strength unto this generation, and thy power to everyone ... Psm. 71: 8-9, 18.

In some strange way, old age is a more receptive asset to faith and hope and the promises of the unseen God of the universe. I would not trade it for youth. RB

Vatican rules that virginity is no longer a prerequisite to become a ‘Bride of Christ’

A new Vatican document sparked ire among consecrated virgins with a ruling that virginity is no longer a prerequisite to become a ‘Bride of Christ.’ The document, Ecclesiae Sponsae Imago, published by the Vatican’s Congregation for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life July 4, serves as a new instructional concerning consecrated virginity. The instructional clarifies that while physical virginity and chastity are important aspects of the life of a ‘bride of Christ,’ they are not prerequisites that, if unmet, would absolutely disqualify a woman from being consecrated as one. (1st paragraph)

The Pope's and his Vatican's dilemma is, they can no longer find enough Catholic girls, who are virgins, and dream of becoming a Vatican handmaid which they call "A Bride Of Christ". The title itself is an unbiblical misnomer. It is all true, born-again Christians who will make up the Biblical Bride Of Christ.

Christ's true churches, redeemed Christians, born-again believers, shall make up the finished Church of Jesus Christ, in heaven ... His bride and He the Bride-groom. So it is Scripturally incorrect to address a single girl, virgin or not, as "Bride Of Christ".

It is Christ's Churches and all who hear and accept the message to "Come to Christ" who will be His bride at the Heaveny marriage.   

And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely. Rev.22:17

Biblical and Spiritual "light" from His Spirit and through His churches, His bride, shall one day cease to be heard.    

And the light of a candle shall shine no more at all in thee; and the voice of the bridegroom and of the bride shall be heard no more at all in thee... Rev.18:23.

Christ's completed church, His bride shall have been raptured into heaven ...

Pope decries that ‘wealthy few’ feast on what belongs to all (From Associated Press)

VATICAN CITY (AP) — Championing the cause of the poor, Pope 
Francis on Sunday lamented that “the wealthy few” enjoy what, 
“in justice, belongs to all” and said Christians cannot remain 
indifferent to the growing cries of the exploited and the indigent, 
including migrants.

Francis invited about 6,000 poor people as well as some 
of the volunteers who help them to the splendor of St. Peter’s 
Basilica where he celebrated Mass on a day the Catholic 
Church dedicates to the needy. Later, he sat down with 1,500 
of the indigent for a lunch of lasagna, chicken, mashed 
potatoes and tiramisu in a Vatican auditorium.

This propaganda sounds so compassionate and sincere, but the truth is, the Pope's criticisms of other nations, and then feeding 1,500 "indigent" and "needy" in Vatican City, in the heart of Rome, and his criticism of "indifferent Christians" and "the wealthy few", is a world class contradiction. The fact is that Vatican City is the richest nation on earth when you include into the equation that all the other nations are deeply in debt. Some of them couldn't pay off their debt if they sold the entire nation at market value. The U.S. debt is close to 200 $trillion if you count unfunded obligations like Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, and Federal retirement liabilities etc. But Vatican City holds the purse strings to property, gold, stocks, bonds and other wealth reaching into the hundreds of trillions of dollars, aren't selling any of it to feed the poor, and aren't in debt. So his assertion that "The wealthy few enjoy what belongs to all" is a ricocheted shot glancing off the truth and hitting him in the heart.

And when he complains about not taking in "migrants", Vatican City takes in none, not one. No wonder most of the world views all of "professing" Christendom as hypocritical counterfeits. When you add in much of world Protestantism's wealth and that of conspicuous, Multi-$millionaire TV preachers, it compounds the contradiction. If the Vatican didn't take the right stand on abortion, it would have no redeeming qualities at all. Poverty is seldom worse than in Catholic dominated countries. Who on earth is more lavishly clothed, better fed and generously cared for than the Roman Pope? Jesus didn't even have a pillow (luke 9:58). By that measurement we are all inconsistent. RB

In 1863, Abraham Lincoln declared two Thanksgivings. One was held in August. The second, held in November, was to give thanks for the nation's blessings. This fall celebration caught on and has been a tradition ever since in America. 

But Thanksgiving didn't begin with President Lincoln. The father of our nation was also a Christian and stated his faith and thankfulness to God in 1789 with this proclamation ...  
"Rendering unto HIM our sincere and humble thanks for the civil and religious liberty with which we are blessed and the means we have of acquiring and diffusing useful knowledge."

But Thanksgiving didn't begin with President Washington either. Thanksgiving to God is first mentioned and observed by the earliest worshipers of God, the Jews, in Leviticus 
about 3500 years ago.

Giving thanks to God must be sincere, voluntary, and personal.
"And when ye will offer a sacrifice of thanksgiving unto the Lord, offer it at your own will." Lev.22:29

Thanksgiving to others must be preceded by thanksgiving to God.
"...Begin the thanksgiving in prayer..." Nehemiah 11:17

Walls of enclosure and exclusion, where there is value and treasure, are a reason for thanksgiving
"And at the dedication of the wall of Jerusalem they sought the Levites out of all their places, to bring them to Jerusalem, to keep the dedication with gladness, both with thanksgivings, and with singing...." Nehemiah 12:27


Thanksgiving to God includes telling others of His blessings.

Thanksgiving and praise must precede requests when praying to God.
"Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving ...." Psalms 95:2
"Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name." Psalms 100:4

Thanksgiving redounds, results in the glory of God.
"For all things are for your sakes, that the abundant grace might through the thanksgiving of many redound to the glory of God." 2 Cor.4:15.

All prayer should begin with Thanksgiving.
"Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God." Phil.4:6

Be most thankful for your Christian root and established faith.
"Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving." Col.2:7.

Give God thanks for the turkey, chicken, beef and ham... "Every creature"
"For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving ..." 1Tim.4:4.   

"Blessing, and glory, and wisdom, and thanksgiving, and honour, and power, and might, be unto our God for ever and ever. Amen..." Rev.7:12

What Did Your Creator Equip And Call You To Be And Do With Your Life?

It Is Certain He Had A Perfect Will In The Matter...

Many Christians who know they are saved, still don't know what God wants them to do with their lives. Our Creator, who gave us life, talents, uniqueness and a free will, simply wants us to use that free will to seek His will in His word, in prayer, and in meditation. The uniqueness and talents born into us are, without doubt, an indication of what we are best equipped to do in life and the callings of God are in harmony with what God gifted us with. That is why    "...the gifts and calling of God are without repentance." Rom.11:29.   But still, as important as that is, God's admonition to  "Study to shew thyself approved unto God...." 2 Tim.2:15  , is vital to the process. Bible study, prayer, and meditation on holy things opens our hearts and minds, and our will to the Holy Spirit's guidance into the will of God for us. Still, God leaves us "free" to chose His will or some diversion from it. But we will answer for that wrong decision.

The world is full of individuals, religions, and groups whose primary motivation is to harness you up to their dreams, their goals, and for their benefit. They have learned to use words and actions .. superficial love, kindness, purpose and security, to draw you into their web. They were created, like you, with uniqueness, a free will and an open door to seek either God's will, their own, or someone elses. They have turned away from God's perfect will, for them, to some worldly pursuit... and want company in their deviation.  It may be a religion, a scam, a philosophy or some other diversion.    "For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly..... Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them." Romans 1:26-27 & 32.    

From God's holy vantage point there is only one truth ... His. That is the only truth. All other beliefs, religions, opinions which do not harmonize with God's documented, written and recorded word, the Holy Bible, are false.  True science does not contradict God's word. If it does, it is "false science".   
"O Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane and vain babblings, and oppositions of science falsely so called." 1 Tim.6:20.   Since the word "science" means "to know", and the pseudo evolution of humanity has never been proven, it is false and therefore cannot be "known" with certainty. Evolutionary "science" is false and therefore falls into the category of "false science".

Seek God's will in Scripture and in prayer and He will reveal it to you.  You are solely responsible for the direction your life takes regardless of worldly interference and obstacles. God will make a way ... if you are willing. Being an obedient Christian is not a matter of appearances or feelings, but a matter of the spiritual conversion (change of direction) of heart, mind and soul toward God. Matt.22:37.

Its not funny; so I don't know why I'm smiling. It is actually another pitiful, demonstration of the egregious double standard of political left-wing Liberals and Socialists. Lawyer, Michael Avenatti, the spokesman attorney for porn stars, including Stormy Daniels, just can't seem to hit his political target, President Trump, with specious accusations. After shooting himself in the foot with half of his attempts to shoot down Trump, it now appears that this self confessed Democrat candidate for President has now shot himself in his right ear. I don't know what philandering Trump may have been guilty of in his past, but when the accuser is a Democrat porn star, with a long line of lusty men awaiting their turn, and a shyster lawyer who batters women, are doing the accusing, I tend to give the benefit of the doubt to the person they accuse of vile  wickedness. Avenatti condemned Justice Kavanaugh as "guilty until proven innocent" but now wants us to judge him "innocent until proven guilty". Typical of the Left-Wing.

Avenatti bailed out after being arrested on suspicion of felony domestic violence, says he'll be 'exonerated'

Michael Avenatti, a frequent President Trump critic and the attorney for adult film star Stormy Daniels, made bail Wednesday evening after his arrest earlier on domestic violence charges and said he will be “fully exonerated.”

He later appeared before a group of reporters, again denying the accusations and thanking the LAPD, who he said "had no option in light of the allegations."

"I have never struck a woman. I never will strike a woman. I have been an advocate for women’s rights my entire career and I’m going to continue to be an advocate. I am not going to be intimidated from stopping what I am doing," he continued. "I am a father to two beautiful, smart daughters. I would never disrespect them by touching a woman inappropriately or striking a woman. I am looking forward to a full investigation at which point I am confident I will be fully exonerated. I also want to thank everyone for their support that has reached out. You know my character. You know me as a man and I appreciate it."

Avenatti was formally charged with felony domestic violence and his bail was set at $50,000, LAPD Officer Rosario Herrera told Fox News.

TMZ, which first reported news of the arrest, said that the lawyer "kicked" a woman "out of the apartment." The outlet initially reported that the alleged incident involved Avenatti's estranged wife, before later describing the individual simply as a woman. The report, citing an unnamed law enforcement source, said the woman's face was "swollen and bruised."

Avenatti, who in the past has said he’s exploring a 2020 presidential run against Trump, garnered attention when he began representing Daniels.

Daniels, whose real name is Stephanie Clifford, has said she had an affair with Trump in 2006 and has sued to invalidate the confidentiality agreement she signed days before the 2016 presidential election. She also sued Trump and his former personal attorney, Michael Cohen, alleging defamation.

"We can confirm that today LAPD Detectives arrested Michael Avenatti on suspicion of domestic violence," the LAPD tweeted. "This is an ongoing investigation and we will provide more details as they become available."
