Common Sense Commentary: Eighty-four years of experience have taught this old preacher a few things which I would like to share with my young readers .... This blog came to me today when a car full of girls passed me driving through heavy traffic at about 80 in a 60 mile an hour zone. The friends you choose to "hang" with had better have some premature wisdom because "hanging" with the wrong friends is often terminal. Your friends define your own level of wisdom or vulnerability to their faults, failures or ignorance. If you choose wild and woolly friends, their effect upon you is rather like you choosing to drive your self to where you are going on the busiest, most dangerous highway in the city. You may have chosen that way for the challenge, thrill or by error. But you didn't go that way to "die dead" in a wreck or be handicapped for life and neither did those driving within inches of you at 70 or 80 miles an hour. But those things tend to show up at the scene of the accident with lots of twisted steel, gasoline, blood, crushed flesh, teeth and broken bones.
Besides learning to be a good, careful driver, the next most important driving skill, which takes longer to learn, is defensive driving. Choosing friends to drive alongside of, in life, also requires some defensive choices. You see, those thousands of drivers on all sides of you vary from experts to idiots. When you are driving among them, never forget this fact. That very close, daring, and dangerous, or drug induced, handsome or pretty driver next to you can quickly take you out .... and I don't to lunch. And you may not be ready to go there so soon, so young, so permanent. RB

I am skeptical humans are the main cause of climate change and that it will be catastrophic in the near future. There is no scientific proof of this hypothesis, yet we are told “the debate is over” and “the science is settled.”
My skepticism begins with the believers’ certainty they can predict the global climate with a computer model. The entire basis for the doomsday climate change scenario is the hypothesis increased atmospheric carbon dioxide due to fossil fuel emissions will heat the Earth to unlivable temperatures.
In fact, the Earth has been warming very gradually for 300 years, since the Little Ice Age ended, long before heavy use of fossil fuels. Prior to the Little Ice Age, during the Medieval Warm Period, Vikings colonized Greenland and Newfoundland, when it was warmer there than today. And during Roman times, it was warmer, long before fossil fuels revolutionized civilization.
The idea it would be catastrophic if carbon dioxide were to increase and average global temperature were to rise a few degrees is preposterous.
Recently, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) announced for the umpteenth time we are doomed unless we reduce carbon-dioxide emissions to zero. Effectively this means either reducing the population to zero, or going back 10,000 years before humans began clearing forests for agriculture. This proposed cure is far worse than adapting to a warmer world, if it actually comes about.
IPCC Conflict of Interest
By its constitution, the IPCC has a hopeless conflict of interest. Its mandate is to consider only the human causes of global warming, not the many natural causes changing the climate for billions of years. We don’t understand the natural causes of climate change any more than we know if humans are part of the cause at present. If the IPCC did not find humans were the cause of warming, or if it found warming would be more positive than negative, there would be no need for the IPCC under its present mandate. To survive, it must find on the side of the apocalypse.
The IPCC should either have its mandate expanded to include all causes of climate change, or it should be dismantled.
Political Powerhouse
Climate change has become a powerful political force for many reasons. First, it is universal; we are told everything on Earth is threatened. Second, it invokes the two most powerful human motivators: fear and guilt. We fear driving our car will kill our grandchildren, and we feel guilty for doing it.
Third, there is a powerful convergence of interests among key elites that support the climate “narrative.” Environmentalists spread fear and raise donations; politicians appear to be saving the Earth from doom; the media has a field day with sensation and conflict; science institutions raise billions in grants, create whole new departments, and stoke a feeding frenzy of scary scenarios; business wants to look green, and get huge public subsidies for projects that would otherwise be economic losers, such as wind farms and solar arrays. Fourth, the Left sees climate change as a perfect means to redistribute wealth from industrial countries to the developing world and the UN bureaucracy.
So we are told carbon dioxide is a “toxic” “pollutant” that must be curtailed, when in fact it is a colorless, odorless, tasteless, gas and the most important food for life on earth. Without carbon dioxide above 150 parts per million, all plants would die.
Human Emissions Saved Planet
Over the past 150 million years, carbon dioxide had been drawn down steadily (by plants) from about 3,000 parts per million to about 280 parts per million before the Industrial Revolution. If this trend continued, the carbon dioxide level would have become too low to support life on Earth. Human fossil fuel use and clearing land for crops have boosted carbon dioxide from its lowest level in the history of the Earth back to 400 parts per million today.
At 400 parts per million, all our food crops, forests, and natural ecosystems are still on a starvation diet for carbon dioxide. The optimum level of carbon dioxide for plant growth, given enough water and nutrients, is about 1,500 parts per million, nearly four times higher than today. Greenhouse growers inject carbon-dioxide to increase yields. Farms and forests will produce more if carbon-dioxide keeps rising.
We have no proof increased carbon dioxide is responsible for the earth’s slight warming over the past 300 years. There has been no significant warming for 18 years while we have emitted 25 per cent of all the carbon dioxide ever emitted. Carbon dioxide is vital for life on Earth and plants would like more of it. Which should we emphasize to our children?
Celebrate Carbon Dioxide
The IPCC’s followers have given us a vision of a world dying because of carbon-dioxide emissions. I say the Earth would be a lot deader with no carbon dioxide, and more of it will be a very positive factor in feeding the world. Let’s celebrate carbon dioxide.

Jethro's Political Remedy For America
Common Sense Commentary: It amazes me that the Bible always has an answer to every important question with examples for us to follow.
When Jethro, the priest of Midian, Moses' father in law, heard of all that God had done for Moses, and for Israel his people .... And when Moses' father in law saw all that he did (for) the people, he said, What is this thing that thou doest ....why sittest thou thyself alone, and all the people stand by thee from morning unto even? And Moses said unto his father in law, Because the people come unto me to enquire of God: When they have a matter, they come unto me; and I judge between one and another, and I do make them know the statutes of God, and his laws.... And Moses' father in law said unto him....Thou wilt surely wear away, both thou, and this people that is with thee: for this thing is too heavy for thee; thou art not able to perform it thyself alone.... Provide out of all the people able men, such as fear God, men of truth, hating covetousness; and place such over them, to be rulers of thousands, and rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens." Ex.18: 1-21.

Jethro's wisdom is as pertinent for America today as it was for Moses and the nation of Israel. No one man or woman, alone, even a Moses, can rule a nation of people for very long without "wearing out" himself and the people waiting their turn. A nation must have political infrastructure. The United States has that, nationally and state-wide, with Executive Branch, Judicial Branch and Legislative Branch. We also have County and City governments. All of that is specified in our Constitution, so that is not the problem in America. We already have the best civil governing instrument in the world in our Constitution. What we don;t have that Jethro counseled Moses and Israel they must have, is rulers of the highest integrity who "fear God, men of truth, hating covetousness".
Our country had exactly that kind of people ruling over the nation when our Constitution was instituted and we became a people free from Kings and elite noblemen dictating over us, which we have returned to in the last few years.
What we have now is a Congress, the majority of which, feathers its own nest, a President who thinks he is a King and a Supreme Court which it making laws instead of judging the Constitutionality of laws made by the Legislature.
Here is my challenge to you who read this blog. In the upcoming elections, Pray for, Campaign for, and support financially the kind of candidates, at all levels of government , who fit the description Jethro gave Moses and Israel. Provide out of all the people able men, such as fear God, men of truth, hating covetousness; and place such over them, to be rulers of thousands, and rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens."

An Evil Miracle: Obama Presidency And An Administration Full Of Muslims And Crooks
Common Sense Commentary: In my nearly 85 years, I have never witnessed anything as diabolical and least likely a thing to happen in America as the Obama phenomenon. His success in hiding his background, his close association with the most extreme radicals, his Muslims affinity, his election, twice, as U.S, President, his undermining of the constitution, his appointment of crooked czars and cabinet members. his ability to govern, bypassing Congress, by endless Executive Orders, were all unthinkable, impossible.... but, they all happened. And even more impossible is the lack of resistance and absence of any effort of impeachment demands from Congress, Conservatives and the news media. The only way I can explain how such things could happen is .... an Evil Miracle ... a real devil at work ... and God letting us reap what we have sowed as a nation. RB

In a fit of rage, Obama snaps at U.S.military brass: "Don't you dare try and paint all of Islam with the same brush.
Showing his Muslim stripes, Obama threw a hissy fit and stomped out of a Pentagon meeting about the bombing campaign against ISIS over remarks allegedly tying the Islamic State (ISIS) to Islam.
His tantrum reportedly took place in the afternoon of last week just prior to the president's departure to Camp David. It was an informal briefing on the expanded bombing campaigns to take place in both Syria and Iraq.
Halfway through the already very brief briefing, President Obama stood up clearly agitated, and walked out of the room.
The casually dressed Obama returned to the briefing moments later with a senior adviser alongside him, though his mood continued to indicate he was still very upset.
The senior adviser made a couple pointed remarks to the Pentagon representatives, reminded them the president had already had a very busy day, and then both she and the president once again left the room. Within seconds, Barack Obama returned again to the just concluded briefing, pointing at the still seated Pentagon staff and indicating how "inappropriate" it was to "try and paint all of Islam with the same brush." The president repeated similar remarks, his mood going from agitation to outrage. His voice carried to several other West Wing offices.
The senior adviser, who did not originally return with the president into the briefing, suddenly re-appeared alongside him, as well as the president's personal aide.
She was smiling, and telling everyone "we're done here" which she repeated several times and then led the president back out into the hallway.
"There are none so blind as those who will not see."
When you read this you will understand why Obama refuses to say the words "radical Islam." I didn't originate this, but it checks out with Google and Snopes...

Obama's top advisor, Valerie Jarrett, is a Muslim who was born in Iran where her parents still live.

Assistant Secretary for Policy Development for Homeland Security, Arif Aikhan, is a Muslim.
Homeland Security Advisor, Mohammed Elibiary, is a Muslim.
Obama advisor and founder of the Muslim Public Affairs Council, Salam al-Marayati, is a Muslim.
Obama's Sharia Czar, Imam Mohamed Magid, of the Islamic Society of North America is a Muslim.

Congressman, Keith Ellison took his oath on a copy of the Qur'an. Congresswoman Michele Bachman was vilified and almost tarred and feathered by Democrats when she voiced her concern about Muslims taking over our government. Considering all these appointments, it would explain why Obama and his minions are systematically destroying our nation, supporting radical Muslim groups worldwide, opening our southern border, and turning a blind eye to the genocide being perpetrated on Christians all over Africa and the Middle East. The more damage Obama does, the more arrogant he's become! Our nation and our government has been infiltrated by people who want to destroy us. It can only get worse!

The "gods" Are Crazy,

Political Correctness has gone to seed in the land of the spree and home of the knave from sea to shinning sea. A Six year old boy is punished for saying his teacher is cute. A High school girl cannot take an aspirin without her parents consent but she can have an abortion without it. "Gay" no longer means happily effervescent but homosexual. Virgin no longer means sexually pure but a frigid wallflower who thinks shes better than others.
Being plain spoken, telling it like it is and not mincing words is no longer an attribute of honesty and integrity but an act of antisocial behavior to be avoided, condemned and punished.
Universities and colleges are loosening up on moral expectations and tightening up on total equality of vocabulary, accomplishment, thought and sexuality. They want to turn out a commonality of robot zombies who think, speak and act alike so there will be no conflict, disagreement or hurt feelings. It is brainwashing pure and simple in preparation for ethnic, moral and sexual unity, one people, one purpose, one religion and one world for the "common good". Political Correctness has become our nation's Primary Public Policy. But our Creator made each of us "curiously" different one from another for His own purpose. It is against nature and God's will to pervert who and what a person is in his God given basic personality and freedom of thought. David addressed our individual human uniqueness in Psm.139:15 "My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret, and curiously wrought...." "For who maketh thee to differ from another?" 1 Cor.4:7.
When students arrive on campus at the University of New Hampshire this fall, they’ll be welcomed with a “Bias-Free Language Guide” to help them in their conversations.
Since college campuses have become very concerned with “microaggressions” being committed on their campuses, UNH decided to help their students understand which words might offend others.
But, according to Campus Reform:
The university website encourages readers to understand that the guide “is not a means to censor but rather to create dialogues of inclusion where all of us feel comfortable and welcomed.” A few of the words which are deemed “problematic” are:
American Mothering Fathering Illegal Alien Caucasian Homeless Poor person Obese Overweight Healthy Orientals Freshmen For each category, the University makes recommendations that, for the most part, are much longer and contain multiple words.
Instead of “poor person,” for instance, the student should say “person who lacks advantages that others have.” Mothering and fathering are frowned upon because they advance gender stereotypes. Instead, one should use “parenting” or “nurturing” because they describe the behavior.
“European-American individuals” is the favored term over “Caucasian.” And instead of “healthy,” use “non-disabled individual.”
The purpose is to:
“…not stereotype or demean people based on personal characteristics.” Students will be able to access the university’s 4,750-word web page to easily understand which words they are supposed to use when conversing with their peers.

Many years ago I read of an isolated tribe in the deep, inaccessible jungles of South America. In the 1930's a small plane was flying over this tribe's area of habitat. A coke bottle was thrown out of the plane by the passenger or pilot. Below, in the area of this tribes small village, several tribal hunters, with their spears ready, were quietly stalking an animal and asking their god for success, when they heard a "whoosh, plop" right in front of them. Their leader reached down and picked up the coke bottle, the likes of which none of them had ever seen. They all stared in amazement at this strange, greenish, translucent object with a hole in one end, which had just been delivered to them from above. ‘American’, ‘Freshman': Among 12 Words That the University of New Hampshire Has Deemed ‘Problematic’
When students arrive on campus at the University of New Hampshire this fall, they’ll be welcomed with a “Bias-Free Language Guide” to help them in their conversations.
Since college campuses have become very concerned with “microaggressions” being committed on their campuses, UNH decided to help their students understand which words might offend others.
But, according to Campus Reform:
The university website encourages readers to understand that the guide “is not a means to censor but rather to create dialogues of inclusion where all of us feel comfortable and welcomed.” A few of the words which are deemed “problematic” are:
American Mothering Fathering Illegal Alien Caucasian Homeless Poor person Obese Overweight Healthy Orientals Freshmen For each category, the University makes recommendations that, for the most part, are much longer and contain multiple words.
Instead of “poor person,” for instance, the student should say “person who lacks advantages that others have.” Mothering and fathering are frowned upon because they advance gender stereotypes. Instead, one should use “parenting” or “nurturing” because they describe the behavior.
“European-American individuals” is the favored term over “Caucasian.” And instead of “healthy,” use “non-disabled individual.”
The purpose is to:
“…not stereotype or demean people based on personal characteristics.” Students will be able to access the university’s 4,750-word web page to easily understand which words they are supposed to use when conversing with their peers.

Old Common Sense Finally Passed Away After A Long Illness

An Obituary printed in the London Times
Today we mourn the passing of a beloved old friend, Common Sense, who has been with us for many years. No one knows for sure how old he was, since his birth records were long ago lost in bureaucratic red tape. He will be remembered as having cultivated such valuable lessons as:
Knowing when to come in out of the rain;
Why the early bird gets the worm;
Life isn't always fair;
And maybe it was my fault.
Common Sense lived by simple, sound financial policies (don't spend more than you can earn) and reliable strategies (adults, not children, are in charge). His health began to deteriorate rapidly when well-intentioned but overbearing regulations were set in place. Reports of a 6-year-old boy charged with sexual harassment for kissing a classmate; teens suspended from school for using mouthwash after lunch; and a teacher fired for reprimanding an unruly student, only worsened his condition.
Common Sense lost ground when parents attacked teachers for doing the job that they themselves had failed to do in disciplining their unruly children. It declined even further when schools were required to get parental consent to administer sun lotion or an aspirin to a student; but could not inform parents when a student became pregnant and wanted to have an abortion.
Common Sense lost the will to live as the churches became businesses; and criminals received better treatment than their victims.
Common Sense took a beating when you couldn't defend yourself from a burglar in your own home and the burglar could sue you for assault.
Common Sense finally gave up the will to live, after a woman failed to realize that a steaming cup of coffee was hot. She spilled a little in her lap, and was promptly awarded a huge settlement.
Common Sense was preceded in death, by his parents, Truth and Trust, by his wife, Discretion, by his daughter, Responsibility, and by his son, Reason. He is survived by his 5 stepbrothers; I Know My Rights; I Want It Now; Someone Else Is To Blame; I'm A Victim; Pay me for Doing Nothing. Not many attended his funeral because so few realized he was gone.

President Barack Obama is in Kenya today for a global economic
summit. It’s his first visit to his father’s home country while President.
While he is trying to develop strong ties between America and Kenya, millions of Kenyans don’t want want to hear about “gay” marriage and the homosexual agenda.
Now, thanks to the effort led by Mark Kariuki and 700 Kenyan evangelical pastors, an alliance representing 38,000 churches and 10 million Kenyan Christians have signed on to a letter which tells Obama to not talk about gay rights!
They are not happy with Obama’s secular worldview. Obama famously changed the lighting at the White House to the “gay” flag after the Supreme Court struck down Ohio’s gay marriage ban.
“We do not want him to come and talk on homosexuality in Kenya or push us to accepting that which is against our faith and culture,” Kariuki said. Kariuki welcomes the president’s visit but says leave “the gay talk” in America.
“Let him talk about development; let him talk about cooperation; let him talk about the long-time relationship Kenya has had with America,” he said. “But about our beliefs and culture– keep off!”
Obama has used previous trips to Africa to urge governments to respect gay rights. Kariuki said the open letter is a warning to the president.
“The family is the strength of a nation. If the family is destroyed, then the nation is destroyed,” he said. “So we don’t want to open doors for our nation to be destroyed!”
Pro-family activists took to the streets of Nairobi this month, urging President Obama to avoid the subject when he visits.
“Since Obama has a Kenyan descent, I think he should be more familiar with our culture. Africa has a conservative culture,” said one of the participants in the pro-family rally. via CBN News
Practicing the gay lifestyle is illegal in Kenya, along with 37 other African nations. Bishop Kariuki said he’ll fight to keep homosexuality a crime in Kenya, as he believes it is an abomination to God.
“God did not create man and woman so that men would marry men and women marry women,” the country’s deputy president is quoted saying. Another lawmaker warned, “We shall tell him to shut up and go home” if he talks about gay rights. Kenya is 82% Christian, and clearly has no patience for Obama’s views on homosexuality. It wasn’t long ago that Obama claimed he believed marriage was between one man and one woman, but no one believed he meant what he said. At this point, it’s difficult to consider Obama a Christian.

Common Sense Commentary: I have just four words for this young Muslim man .... "Watch Your Back Haseeb". I predict he won't live long. Those Muslims he says aren't really Muslims outnumber him by at least a billion and any one of them is a potential assassin. The various sects of Islam hate each other as well as us, but especially those few Muslims who speak out against their terrorism and extremism. I admire Haseeb for his courage to speak up, but that is probably what will get him killed and is likely the reason those Muslims who believe as he does are silent. I commend Haseeb for condemning ISIS and the violence in such a passionate way. However, there are far too few Muslims standing up decrying terrorism and the atrocities committed in the name of Islam and the Quran. Regardless of how Haseeb feels, these terrorists are Muslim and they feel they are following their holy book. I agree with him that every last one of them in our countries should pack their bags and head to Syria or wherever in the Middle East and never, ever come back. Of course, I also want to see each of them take a dirt nap, but I digress. Haseeb has the right attitude and is a proud Brit, but he is just one. there are millions of Muslims out there that are in silent agreement with ISIS. The religion of peace has morphed into the religion of pieces. Actions speak louder than words. The only reason all of Islam is being blamed is that the overwhelming majority of terrorists on the planet are Muslim and the silence from the Ummah is deafening and damning.

People want to see the good in all religions and other people – but when a religion boasts millions who believe in brutality and violence… who do not believe in freedom or rights… they start to have their doubts about that group of individuals.
