To Whom Does Jerusalem Belong? Muslims Or Jews

Historian, Josephus, was there and recorded the Roman destruction Of Jerusalem, God's Temple, and the dispersion of the Jews...

The Romans Destroy The Temple In Jerusalem 70AD

References:
Josephus' account appears in: Cornfield, Gaalya ed., Josephus, The Jewish War (1982); Duruy, Victor, History of Rome vol. V (1883).

In the year 66 AD the Jews of Judea rebelled against their Roman masters. In response, the Emperor Nero dispatched an army under the generalship of Vespasian to restore order. By the year 68, resistance in the northern part of the province had been eradicated and the Romans turned their full attention to the subjugation of Jerusalem. That same year, the Emperor Nero died by his own hand, creating a power vacuum in Rome. In the resultant chaos, Vespasian was declared Emperor and returned to the Imperial City. It fell to his son, Titus, to lead the remaining army in the assault on Jerusalem.

The Roman legions surrounded the city and began to slowly squeeze the life out of the Jewish stronghold. By the year 70, the attackers had breached Jerusalem's outer walls and began a systematic ransacking of the city. The assault culminated in the burning and destruction of the Temple that served as the center of Judaism.

In victory, the Romans slaughtered thousands. Of those sparred from death: thousands more were enslaved and sent to toil in the mines of Egypt, others were dispersed to arenas throughout the Empire to be butchered for the amusement of the public. The Temple's sacred relics were taken to Rome where they were displayed in celebration of the victory.

The rebellion sputtered on for another three years and was finally extinguished in 73 AD with the fall of the various pockets of resistance including the stronghold at Masada.

Our only first-hand account of the Roman assault on the Temple comes from the Jewish historian Josephus Flavius. Josephus was a former leader of the Jewish Revolt who had surrendered to the Romans and had won favor from Vespasian. In gratitude, Josephus took on Vespasian's family name - Flavius - as his own. We join his account as the Romans fight their way into the inner sanctum of the Temple:

"...the rebels shortly after attacked the Romans again, and a clash followed between the guards of the sanctuary and the troops who were putting out the fire inside the inner court; the latter routed the Jews and followed in hot pursuit right up to the Temple itself. Then one of the soldiers, without awaiting any orders and with no dread of so momentous a deed, but urged on by some supernatural force, snatched a blazing piece of wood and, climbing on another soldier's back, hurled the flaming brand through a low golden window that gave access, on the north side, to the rooms that surrounded the sanctuary. As the flames shot up, the Jews let out a shout of dismay that matched the tragedy; they flocked to the rescue, with no thought of sparing their lives or husbanding their strength; for the sacred structure that they had constantly guarded with such devotion was vanishing before their very eyes.

...No exhortation or threat could now restrain the impetuosity of the legions; for passion was in supreme command. Crowded together around the entrances, many were trampled down by their companions; others, stumbling on the smoldering and smoked-filled ruins of the porticoes, died as miserably as the defeated. As they drew closer to the Temple, they pretended not even to hear Caesar's orders, but urged the men in front to throw in more firebrands. The rebels were powerless to help; carnage and flight spread throughout.

Most of the slain were peaceful citizens, weak and unarmed, and they were butchered where they were caught. The heap of corpses mounted higher and higher about the altar; a stream of blood flowed down the Temple's steps, and the bodies of those slain at the top slipped to the bottom.

When Caesar failed to restrain the fury of his frenzied soldiers, and the fire could not be checked, he entered the building with his generals and looked at the holy place of the sanctuary and all its furnishings, which exceeded by far the accounts current in foreign lands and fully justified their splendid repute in our own.

As the flames had not yet penetrated to the inner sanctum, but were consuming the chambers that surrounded the sanctuary, Titus assumed correctly that there was still time to save the structure; he ran out and by personal appeals he endeavored to persuade his men to put out the fire, instructing Liberalius, a centurion of his bodyguard of lancers, to club any of the men who disobeyed his orders. But their respect for Caesar and their fear of the centurion's staff who was trying to check them were overpowered by their rage, their detestation of the Jews, and an utterly uncontrolled lust for battle.

Most of them were spurred on, moreover, by the expectation of loot, convinced that the interior was full of money and dazzled by observing that everything around them was made of gold. But they were forestalled by one of those who had entered into the building, and who, when Caesar dashed out to restrain the troops, pushed a firebrand, in the darkness, into the hinges of the gate Then, when the flames suddenly shot up from the interior, Caesar and his generals withdrew, and no one was left to prevent those outside from kindling the blaze. Thus, in defiance of Caesar's wishes, the Temple was set on fire.

While the Temple was ablaze, the attackers plundered it, and countless people who were caught by them were slaughtered. There was no pity for age and no regard was accorded rank; children and old men, laymen and priests, alike were butchered; every class was pursued and crushed in the grip of war, whether they cried out for mercy or offered resistance.

Through the roar of the flames streaming far and wide, the groans of the falling victims were heard; such was the height of the hill and the magnitude of the blazing pile that the entire city seemed to be ablaze; and the noise - nothing more deafening and frightening could be imagined.

There were the war cries of the Roman legions as they swept onwards en masse, the yells of the rebels encircled by fire and sword, the panic of the people who, cut off above, fled into the arms of the enemy, and their shrieks as they met their fate. The cries on the hill blended with those of the multitudes in the city below; and now many people who were exhausted and tongue-tied as a result of hunger, when they beheld the Temple on fire, found strength once more to lament and wail. Peraea and the surrounding hills, added their echoes to the deafening din. But more horrifying than the din were the sufferings.

The Temple Mount, everywhere enveloped in flames, seemed to be boiling over from its base; yet the blood seemed more abundant than the flames and the numbers of the slain greater than those of the slayers. The soldiers climbed over heaps of bodies as they chased the fugitives."

FBI Goes Public: Citizen's Right To Carry Gun Protection

It stops a lot of crime and murder.

If you were a serial killer or a professional criminal or a mugger or a Muslim terrorist, or an LA gang member, which political party's stand on our U.S. Constitution's 2nd Amendment would you support? A citizen's right to carry gun protection or to violate the the Constitution and make it illegal? Remember, this right is basic U.S. law.

2nd Amendment of the U.S. Constitution:
"A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."

FBI Releases Pro-2nd Amendment Statement, States the Importance of Armed Citizens in America

Active shooter incidents are defined as any incident involving one or more individuals who are actively engaged in killing or attempting to kill those within a populated area — gang or drug-related shootings notwithstanding.
There were 50 active shooter incidents in 2016 and 2017 combined, leaving many to question if America is, in fact, safer when armed.
However, a recent investigation by the FBI in April showed that, in numerous incidents involving active shooters, there were people who stopped them by use of a weapon.
“Armed and unarmed citizens engaged the shooter in 10 incidents. They safely and successfully ended the shootings in eight of those incidents,” read the report. “Their selfless actions likely saved many lives.
“The enhanced threat posed by active shooters and the swiftness with which active shooter incidents unfold support the importance of preparation by law enforcement officers and citizens alike.”
Ten active shooters had been confronted by citizens, and eight of them ended successfully, according to The Daily Caller. Four of those eight shooters were stopped by a lawfully armed citizen.
“In one incident, a citizen possessing a valid firearms permit exchanged gunfire with the shooter, causing the shooter to flee to another scene and continue shooting,” the report read.
Yet, in the wake of so many gun shootings and violence, the call for disarming American citizens remains.

According to Timothy Hsiao for The Federalist, it is not a matter of if guns increase violence, but if they are a good means of self-defense.
“What matters is not the risk (or lack thereof) that guns pose to society, but simply whether guns are a reasonable means of self-defense,” wrote Hsiao, adding that to defend one’s life is a basic dignity that cannot be taken away in the name of “social utility.”
“Rights function as moral ‘trump cards’ that override appeals to utility,” he said. “Like our right to life, our right to defend ourselves is a basic dignity that can’t be defeated just because it might produce a net benefit.”
In nearly all national survey estimates, the result saw that defensive gun uses by victims were nearly as common as offensive uses by criminals.
Though millions of Americans are legally permitted to carry firearms every day, most of them cite self-defense as the first and foremost reason to do so.

“The overwhelming majority of the time, those guns are never drawn in anger,” wrote Paul Hsieh for Forbes. “But innocent civilians can and do sometimes use their guns in self-defense.”
Any conversation, Hsieh added, that centers around firearm policy needs to acknowledge those that are saved by the legal use of guns and self-defense, such as those in the active shooter incidents.
“The value of firearms in the hands of law-abiding citizens should be measured in terms of lives saved or crimes prevented,” he said, “Not criminals killed.”

Why Is Mother's Day A Big Deal

We do not celebrate Mother's Day because Mothers are perfect. None of us had a perfect mother because there are no perfect people. But, as a major component of the world's population, mothers are, without doubt, nearer perfection than any of the other segments of humanity, except maybe, the new born babies they have produced. We celebrate Mother's Day because our mothers conceived us and carried us for nine months of inconvenience, weariness, sacrifice, and then went into the valley of the shadow of death to give us birth. That alone is good reason to honor and love our mothers, but most mothers went much, much further. Most mothers spent the next twenty years or so feeding us, washing our dirty clothes and cleaning up our daily messes in her house... with little or no help from us. Now that kind of commitment and love is deserving of far more than a once a year "Happy Mother's Day Mom", which isn't so happy for most mothers who have to still do all the work of cooking, cleaning the table and kitchen besides the extra messes everybody makes while celebrating her.

My mother, and my wife, Bettie fit the description and lived up to all their motherly obligations with little help and few complaints. Now, Bettie and I are in our late 80's and barely able to care for ourselves. I wore myself out and I and our six children wore her out. For that, Honey, I am truly sorry.

Many of you know that Bettie recently had a serious problem with her heart and vertigo, complicated by some other health problems, and was in the hospital/rehab 18 days for a pace-maker implant. She has been home now for about five weeks. Her nurse and the rehab lady come regularly and we have two other ladies clean house for us every two weeks. I have been playing cook. Breakfast is easy and frozen dinners are easier. Bettie did breakfast for the first time this morning and is recuperating very well. So tomorrow is Mother's Day and I come to you, precious Bettie, and all you other mothers out there to offer you a "never appreciated enough" Happy Mother's Day.

Bettie (Bunnie) and I will celebrate our 68th Anniversary May 31. When God hands out the report cards, precious little wife, you will get a great big sun-shinny ... smiley face.  And we will live eternally healthy, happy and holy with our six children, most of their descents I pray, and thousands of friends, but best of all, with our Lord and Savior and Heavenly Father. Praise God.

From Nikkei Asian Review

China sees new world order with oil benchmark backed by gold

Yuan-denominated contract will let exporters circumvent US dollar

DENPASAR, Indonesia -- China is expected shortly to launch a crude oil futures contract priced in yuan and convertible into gold in what analysts say could be a game-changer for the industry.

The contract could become the most important Asia-based crude oil benchmark, given that China is the world's biggest oil importer. Crude oil is usually priced in relation to Brent or West Texas Intermediate futures, both denominated in U.S. dollars.

China's move will allow exporters such as Russia and Iran to circumvent U.S. sanctions by trading in yuan. To further entice trade, China says the yuan will be fully convertible into gold on exchanges in Shanghai and Hong Kong.

"The rules of the global oil game may begin to change enormously," said Luke Gromen, founder of U.S.-based macroeconomic research company FFTT.

The Shanghai International Energy Exchange has started to train potential users and is carrying out systems tests following substantial preparations in June and July. This will be China's first commodities futures contract open to foreign companies such as investment funds, trading houses and petroleum companies.

Most of China's crude imports, which averaged around 7.6 million barrels a day in 2016, are bought on long-term contracts between China's major oil companies and foreign national oil companies. Deals also take place between Chinese majors and independent Chinese refiners, and between foreign oil majors and global trading companies.

Alan Bannister, Asia director of S&P Global Platts, an energy information provider, said that the active involvement of Chinese independent refiners over the last few years "has created a more diverse marketplace of participants domestically in China, creating an environment in which a crude futures contract is more likely to succeed."

China has long wanted to reduce the dominance of the U.S. dollar in the commodities markets. Yuan-denominated gold futures have been traded on the Shanghai Gold Exchange since April 2016, and the exchange is planning to launch the product in Budapest later this year.

Yuan-denominated gold contracts were also launched in Hong Kong in July -- after two unsuccessful earlier attempts -- as China seeks to internationalize its currency. The contracts have been moderately successful.

The existence of yuan-backed oil and gold futures means that users will have the option of being paid in physical gold, said Alasdair Macleod, head of research at Goldmoney, a gold-based financial services company based in Toronto. "It is a mechanism which is likely to appeal to oil producers that prefer to avoid using dollars, and are not ready to accept that being paid in yuan for oil sales to China is a good idea either," Macleod said.

Yuan-denominated gold contracts have significant implications, especially for countries like Russia and Iran, Qatar and Venezuela, said Louis-Vincent Gave, chief executive of Gavekal Research, a Hong Kong-based financial research company.
These countries would be less vulnerable to Washington's use of the dollar as a "soft weapon," if they should fall foul of U.S. foreign policy, he said. "By creating a gold contract settled in renminbi [an alternative name for the yuan], Russia may now sell oil to China for renminbi, then take whatever excess currency it earns to buy gold in Hong Kong. As a result, Russia does not have to buy Chinese assets or switch the proceeds into dollars," said Gave.
Grant Williams, an adviser to Vulpes Investment Management, a Singapore-based hedge fund sponsor, said he expects most oil producers to be happy to exchange their oil reserves for gold. "It's a transfer of holding their assets in black liquid to the yellow metal. It's a strategic move swapping oil for gold, rather than for U.S. Treasuries, which can be printed out of thin air," he said.
Market share
China has been indicating to producers that those happy to sell to them in yuan will benefit from more business. Producers that will not sell to China in yuan will lose market share.
Saudi Arabia, a U.S. ally, is a case in point. China proposed pricing oil in yuan to Saudi Arabia in late July, according to Chinese media. It is unclear if Saudi Arabia will yield to its biggest customer, but Beijing has been reducing Saudi Arabia's share of its total imports, which fell from 25% in 2008 to 15% in 2016.
Chinese oil imports rose 13.8% year-on-year during the first half of 2017, but supplies from Saudi Arabia inched up just 1% year-on-year. Over the same timeframe, Russian oil shipments jumped 11%, making Russia China's top supplier. Angola, which made the yuan its second legal currency in 2015, leapfrogged Saudi Arabia into the second spot with an increase of 22% in oil exports to China in the same period.
If Saudi Arabia accepts yuan settlement for oil, Gave said, "this would go down like a lead balloon in Washington, where the U.S. Treasury would see this as a threat to the dollar's hegemony... and it is unlikely the U.S. would continue to approve modern weapon sales to Saudi and the embedded protection of the House of Saud [the kingdom's ruling family] that comes with them."
The alternative for Saudi Arabia is equally unappetizing. "Getting boxed out of the Chinese market will increasingly mean having to dump excess oil inventories on the global stage, thereby ensuring a sustained low price for oil," said Gave.
But the kingdom is finding other ways to get in with China. On Aug. 24, Saudi Vice Minister of Economy and Planning Mohammed al-Tuwaijri, told a conference in Jeddah that the government was looking at the possibility of issuing a yuan-denominated bond. Saudi Arabia and China have also agreed to establish a $20 billion joint investment fund.
Furthermore, the two countries could cement their relationship if China were to take a cornerstone investment in the planned initial public offering of a 5% state in Saudi Aramco, Saudi Arabia's national oil company. The IPO is expected to be the largest ever, although details on the listing venue and valuation are yet scant.
If China were to buy into Saudi Aramco the pricing of Saudi oil could shift from U.S. dollars to yuan, said Macleod. Crucially, "if China can tie in Aramco, with Russia, Iran et al, she will have a degree of influence over nearly 40% of global production, and will be able to progress her desire to exclude dollars for yuan," he said.
"What is interesting is that China's leadership originally planned to clean up the markets next year, but brought it forward to this year. One interpretation of that change is that they have brought forward the day when they pay for oil in yuan," said Simon Hunt, a strategic adviser to international investors on the Chinese economy and geopolitics.
China is also making efforts to set other commodity benchmarks, such as gas and copper, as Beijing seeks to transform the yuan into the natural trading currency for Asia and emerging markets.
Yuan oil futures are expected to attract interest from investors and funds, while state-backed oil majors, such as PetroChina and China Petroleum & Chemical (Sinopec) will provide liquidity to ensure trade. Locally registered entities of JPMorgan, a U.S. bank, and UBS, a Swiss bank, are among the first to have gained approval to trade the contract. But it is understood that the market will be also open to retail investors.

No One who Still Wants The True God Is Hopeless

God used miracles, in Bible days, to convince unbelievers, bound by Satan and disbelief, to shock them into believing on Christ as their Messiah and Savior. Muslims, and all other followers of a false faith, are slaves to it just as those unbelievers Jesus dealt with in the Bible. So it is no great mystery if He still deals with seemingly hopeless cases today. No one who still wants to know the true, living God is hopeless. The devil doesn't give out permits to seek the truth. Anyone who loves and seeks truth above all else, including any religion or their own ungodliness, will find God.

"And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart." Jer. 29:13.

"For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." Romans 10:13.

'Bat Creatures,' Then Dad Literally Sees 'the Light' of Jesus

CBN News

MELBOURNE, Australia – According to the latest census, the Muslim population in Australia has soared to more than 600,000 people making Islam the most popular and fastest-growing non-Christian religion in the country.
While extreme Islamization does pose a threat to Australian society, some Muslims “down under" have made decisions to leave their religion and embrace Christianity instead.
We hear of many stories all around the world of Muslims converting to Christianity through dreams and visions. In Australia, CBN News met a Muslim man whose family was tormented by the devil until he experienced a supernatural encounter with Jesus.
Ismail was a Turkish Muslim. He migrated to Australia when he was 19. Although he practiced Islam, he considered himself a moderate Muslim because he always had questions about God and Islam.
He said he wanted to know who God was and the unknown about God. He was curious about the spiritual realm and wondered if witchcraft was from God or the devil.
In his search for answers, Ismail got involved with the occult not knowing that he opened himself to demonic spirits. He met a Turkish Muslim who called spirits using the Ouija board and a coffee cup. Ismail continued this activity with the spirit world until the manifestations of the devil became more and more frightening.
He told CBN News about his encounter with demons.
“I was making coffee. I was stirring the coffee and when I looked inside, I saw this creature live on the coffee, looking at me, behind me, hanging on the curtain. They were kind of human demonic bat kinda looking creatures; real long fingernails. And every time they were flapping their wings, there was smoke coming out of them. On the last day when actually I was leaving my friend’s house, he said, ‘Look, two of them are going with you!’”
For four years, Ismail’s two sons were tormented by these demons.
According to Ismail, they drew sketches of the creatures with red eyes.
“They came to our bed and they started shaking. My kid, he was on the bed and he was throwing fists. He was sitting on his bed and screaming, 10, 15, 20 minutes, I can’t remember. We couldn’t wake him up. I lay him down flat and I said, 'What’s happening?' He’s still there, still didn’t wake up. I freaked out.”
Ismail tried everything and prayed to Allah and the prophets but nothing worked. Out of his frustration, he sought the help of an Iranian Christian friend who brought him to a Bible study. There, he surrendered his life to Jesus and experienced a supernatural encounter.
“I’m seeing this figure, He’s holding his hands up like this towards me. I could tell he was smiling. All I was seeing was this light coming from everywhere. It was just amazing. And actually, I have fallen in love with Him. That’s how I converted.”
The pastor instructed Ismail to pray for two weeks, commanding the demons to leave their home.
Ismail said, “Every night I was praying. I was saying, 'In the Name of Jesus Christ, you have no authority here. You demons leave in Jesus Name!'”
As a result, his children stopped having nightmares. Since then, Ismail hungered for the Word and began reading the Bible. He compared what the Bible said with the teachings of the Qur'an.
Ismail explained, “There’s nowhere in the book, nobody can find anywhere where Allah says, if you do this you will go to heaven. There is only one way and that is if you get murdered in the way of jihad. I now know the truth. Jesus is as real as you and me. He has created us. And only through His blood, can we come to God the Father. And He is an amazing, compassionate, graceful, forgiving God.”

Snopes Fact Checks With A Jaundiced, Left-Wing Eye

Where are the honest, Conservative fact checkers? Working, paying taxes, raising a family, and reading the news not perverting it as Snopes does.

Democrats swear their allegiance to Democracy but reject the legitimate, presidential election results when they lose. Hollywood, the world Capital of illusion and pretension, assumes that its genius in acting, feigning reality, and high living, gives it the loftier gifts of leadership, wisdom and political wizardry. The news media claims the hallowed Constitutional right of a free press as more sacred than holy scripture, while using that powerful liberty to destroy most of the other Constitutional rights and freedoms of the rest of the nation. Most Politicians slide into office on a slick pathway of promised prosperity, transparency and patriotism but retire as corrupt,  grandiose, millionaires. "Fact Check" sites seem to have carved out a left-wing nitch running parallel to "fake news", like two Democrat donkeys, hee hawing into the nation's ear... "adjusting" true facts to fit their political agenda.

Their clandestine, left-wing objective is to shield Liberal causes, while undermining Conservative ones, in words which appear to be unbiased. Then print their "impartial" conclusions in bold green or red type that a lie is mostly true and a truth is mostly false. The vast majority of conservatives have already come to the same conclusion reached by Robert Knight in this Washington Times article.

The unreliable 'facts' of a fact-checking site

Snopes.com plays fast and loose with the First Amendment and makes Christianity a target.

Snopes.com is handy at times.

The "fact check" site is useful when vetting a news story that favors a progressive take. If even the left-leaning Snopes finds it false or mostly false, that's pretty persuasive. But not so much when it comes to something involving conservatives or conservative causes.

This past week, Snopes jumped the shark. In a post about California Assembly Bill 2943, a frightening piece of pure-grade totalitarianism, Snopes belittled a conservative opponent and misrepresented the legislation.

The anti-"conversion therapy" bill sponsored by San Jose Democratic Assemblyman Evan Low basically forbids provision of counseling, books, advice, referrals, etc. aimed at helping someone overcome same-sex desires or transgender identification. In other words, it criminalizes the sexual morality code of every major religion and especially Christianity – the real target.

It should chill every freedom-loving American that this spectacular violation of the First Amendment passed the California House by a vote of 50-18 on April 19 and is now before the state Senate.

Snopes.com logoSnopes focused on a response by Republican Assembly member Travis Allen to One America News Network's Liz Wheeler, who asked, "if this bill were to pass, would this prohibit the sale of the Bible, that teaches these things about sexual morality?"

Mr. Allen replied, "Well, literally, according to how this law is written, yes, it would. This is, you know, PC culture, politically correct culture, gone horribly awry."

Snopes smugly informs us that, "California Assembly Bill 2943 does not mention the Bible, Christianity, or religion at all, so when Allen claimed that the legislation would 'literally' prohibit the sale of the Bible, he was stating something that is demonstrably and clearly false."

Really?

In a brilliant takedown in The Federalist, author and academic Robert Gagnon explains why Snopes – not Mr. Allen – is dead wrong.

"That the bill doesn't explicitly mention these things is irrelevant if the wording of the bill is broad enough to encompass them," Mr. Gagnon writes. "Sure, it is virtually impossible that California will immediately attempt to ban the sale of the Bible itself. Not even the hard left in California has that kind of chutzpah. But citations of Bible verses in the context of declaring homosexual practice and transgenderism to be morally debased could indeed get one into serious trouble with the law if it comes in the context of selling or advertising a product or service.

"Snopes," he continues, "heavily shades the truth: 'What is clear is that [Assembly member Evan] Low's bill does not seek to outlaw all religious or moral instruction regarding sexuality and sexual orientation.'"

Mr. Gagnon: "Read the bill. There is no religious exemption. There is no restriction to mental health professionals. This is not simply a 'gay conversion ban.'" Which would be bad enough.

I read the bill. It is sweeping in its breadth. Mr. Low's legislation follows a current California law barring parents from procuring pro-heterosexual licensed counseling for minors, even those who have been molested. Pro-homosexual counseling is OK, of course. Opponents accurately call it the "must stay gay" law.

Liberty Counsel president Mat Staver says the Low bill is "a dramatic infringement on First Amendment rights and is a classic viewpoint discrimination. It declares certain kinds of speech as consumer fraud."

He notes that, "The Bible specifically refers to homosexuality in 1 Corinthians 6:9. Then verse 11 states, 'And such were some of you,' thus clearly stating that through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, people with same-sex attractions or who engaged in same-sex behavior can change. Advertising this passage or quoting it in a brochure would be considered fraudulent business practices under this bill."

Meanwhile, Snopes is doing its best to persuade Christians not to worry enough to band together to stop these egregious violations.

The fact-checking site was originally founded in 1995 by David and Barbara Mikkelson, who divorced in 2015. In December 2017, Forbes ran a piece that concluded Snopes has major credibility problems such as: David Mikkelson's "responses regarding the hiring of strongly partisan fact checkers and his lack of response on screening and assessment protocols present a deeply troubling picture of a secretive black box that acts as ultimate arbitrator of truth, yet reveals little of its inner workings."

By the way, did you know that in December 2016, Facebook began relying on Snopes to weed out "fake news?"

On the Snopes website, the "About Us" section lists David Mikkelson solely as founder, with no mention whatever of co-founder Barbara Mikkelson, who has been tossed down the memory hole. One of many inconvenient facts omitted by the "fact checker."

Robert Knight is a Washington Times contributor and the author of "A Strong Constitution: What Would America Look Like if We Followed the Law"" (djkm.org, May 2018). This column first appeared on The Washington Times' website.

Vetting John McCain, Considering His Friends/Enemies

There Are More One Worlders Than Admit it

When someone is dying ... is a time to pray for them ... not vent your disagreements with them. The best thing John McCain ever did was serve his country in a time of war... and he paid a heavy price for it in a Vietnamese prison. But that 3 years of great suffering also bought him the high honor of being elected a U.S. senator for the rest of his life.  So, how well he did that job is what will mark his place in history more than his time as a prisoner of war. There are no "moral" or "achievment" requirements to be a prisoner of war. There have been prisoners of war who were evil and upright, cowards and heroes, traitors and patriots.

While I will not speak evil of the dying, I will pray for his painless passing and his family's comfort at their loss, and leave his final judgement up to God and his efficacy as a U.S. senator up to the American people.  To that end I reprint this bottom line excerpt of his life as published by FOX News on this Lord's Day, Sunday, May 6, 2018.

John McCain, who has been battling an aggressive form of brain cancer for more than a year, doesn’t want President Trump to attend his funeral ... according to a New York Times report. In addition, former Presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama have been asked to deliver eulogies at McCain's funeral, sources close to both former presidents and McCain told CNN.

The Arizona senator ...voted against the repeal of ObamaCare in July, singlehandedly scuttling one of the Trump administration's major policy goals, a move that provoked the ire of Trump but earned him a thank you call from Obama.

A National U.S. Turn From Babylonian Tyranny

Who Knows What The Future Holds? Its In God's Book!

Whatever else President Trump may be, or believe, or did in the past, he is a change for the better in the White House. Neither I nor anyone else can accurately guess what his secular or spiritual content may be, but one thing is certain, he is a friend to Christianity, The U.S. Constitution, Freedom loving U.S. Citizens, and is "Making America Better, if not Great Again", than when he took control of the Oval Office. And clearly a thousand times better than what Hillary Clinton would have done there. Our people have been delivered from the Babylonians .... at least temporarily, and we had better not take our eyes off of them. RB

Conservatives Amen New Faith Office

There was a time, not too long ago, when Americans wondered if the National Day of Prayer could even survive an administration as hostile to faith as Obama's. But, every May for eight years, even the most liberal president in history -- whether out of obligation or sincere belief -- couldn't escape what America is and has always been: one nation, under God.

Now, a year and a half into an administration that runs to our Christian heritage -- not away from it -- today is a celebration. Under President Trump, the National Day of Prayer isn't a just 24-hour cease fire in the government's war on faith -- but the acknowledgement of a year-round culture change, where religion and freedom matter. In sharp contrast to the previous administration, President Trump is committed to protecting and promoting religious freedom 365 days year. As he said today, "We must cherish our spiritual foundation" and the actions of this administration back it up.

At today's Rose Garden ceremony, I was one of the dozens of faith leaders on hand to witness the latest proof of this president's sincerity: the kick-off of the White House Faith and Opportunity Initiative. By executive order, President Trump took the last two administration's attempts at faith-based outreach and turned it into a powerful and expanded agent of inclusive change. The new office, which will report directly to the White House, won't be a symbolic gesture or a pretext for pet projects, but a commitment to ensure the ability of individuals of faith to be at home in every U.S. agency.

Unlike past offices, Trump's emphasis is giving faith groups a stronger voice on areas like poverty, religious liberty, education, family, prisoner reform, mental health, and human trafficking. This White House wants religious groups and organizations to have "strong advocates" across the federal government -- which is a radical departure from the presidents of the past. Specifically, the order states:

Faith-based and community organizations have tremendous ability to serve individuals, families, and communities through means that are different from those of government and with capacity that often exceeds that of government. These organizations lift people up, keep families strong, and solve problems at the local level. The executive branch wants faith-based and community organizations, to (have) the fullest opportunity permitted by law, to compete on a level playing field for grants, contracts, programs, and other Federal funding opportunities. The efforts of faith-based and community organizations are essential to revitalizing communities, and the Federal Government welcomes opportunities to partner with such organizations through innovative, measurable, and outcome-driven initiatives.

Even the project's unveiling was significant. At one point in today's ceremony, the president took the opportunity to single out John Ponder, a fatherless kid who grew up on the streets and in gangs. John was in and out of jail for years until, at age 38, he was arrested for robbing a bank. He ended up in federal prison, in solitary confinement. That's where, as President Trump put it, "God found him." After reading the Bible and listening to Christian radio, John woke up one night with a jolt to the voice of Billy Graham in his head, and he accepted Christ.

The first day John got out of jail, he had a knock on his door. "It was the man who put him in jail, FBI Special Agent Richard Beasley. "I want you to know that I've been praying for you very strongly," Beasley told him. "God called me to the FBI in part because of you, John." As for John, he runs a full-time prison ministry now. But the moment was important for a couple of reason -- one, which the president himself pointed out when both men were on stage. "You notice a big difference between now and two or three years ago?" he asked. "[America] was going in the other direction rapidly, right? Now, it's straight up."

What an incredible difference this administration has made in the simple expression and acknowledgement of faith! Two years ago, he's absolutely right. These men wouldn't have been held up as an example -- Richard probably would have lost his job! Instead, the president of the United States is using them as a living testimony of everything FRC is fighting for: the ability to do your job, guided by faith. Under Obama, they wouldn't have been an illustration of devoted service, but unacceptable behavior!

No longer are Americans punished or excluded from the public square because of their faith, rather they are welcomed and protected by our government. So today, of all days, let's be grateful -- not only that we're a nation of prayer, but that we're also a nation of answered prayer.

We Got China Wrong And Owe Them Trillions, Now What?

Hyper Inflation To Repay It ... Or Default And War?

The Great Majority of Western Politicians, especially the U.S. ones, seem compelled...destined... fated to "Give away the farm", "Get the short end of the stick for America", and try to borrow our way out of debt. Practically every partnership, treaty and deal they have made, with foreign leaders and nations, has ended in disaster for us. Our total debt, private and public is inconceivable. Fatal Delusions of Western Man

From Pat Buchanan
Mar 02, 2018

"We got China wrong. Now what?" ran the headline over the column in The Washington Post.

"Remember how American engagement with China was going to make that communist backwater more like the democratic, capitalist West?" asked Charles Lane in his opening sentence.

America's elites believed that economic engagement and the opening of U.S. markets would cause the People's Republic to coexist benignly with its neighbors and the West.

We deluded ourselves. It did not happen.

Xi Jinping just changed China's constitution to allow him to be dictator for life. He continues to thieve intellectual property from U.S. companies and to occupy and fortify islets in the South China Sea, which Beijing now claims as entirely its own.

Meanwhile, China sustains North Korea as Chinese warplanes and warships circumnavigate Taiwan threatening its independence.

We today confront a Chinese Communist dictatorship and superpower that seeks to displace America as first power on earth, and to drive the U.S. military back across the Pacific.

Who is responsible for this epochal blunder?

The elites of both parties. Bush Republicans from the 1990s granted China most-favored-nation status and threw open America's market.

Result: China has run up $4 trillion in trade surpluses with the United States. Her $375 billion trade surplus with us in 2017 far exceeded the entire Chinese defense budget.

We fed the tiger, and created a monster.

Why? What is in the mind of Western man that our leaders continue to adopt policies rooted in hopes unjustified by reality?

Recall. Stalin was a murderous tyrant unrivaled in history whose victims in 1939 were 1,000 times those of Adolf Hitler, with whom he eagerly partnered in return for the freedom to rape the Baltic States and bite off half of Poland.

When Hitler turned on Stalin, the Bolshevik butcher rushed to the West for aid. Churchill and FDR hailed him in encomiums that would have made Pericles blush. At Yalta, Churchill rose to toast the butcher:

"I walk through this world with greater courage and hope when I find myself in a relation of friendship and intimacy with this great man, whose fame has gone out not only over all Russia, but the world. ... We regard Marshal Stalin's life as most precious to the hopes and hearts of all of us."

Returning home, Churchill assured a skeptical Parliament, "I know of no Government which stands to its obligations, even in its own despite, more solidly than the Russian Soviet Government."

George W. Bush, with the U.S. establishment united behind him, invaded Iraq with the goal of creating a Vermont in the Middle East that would be a beacon of democracy to the Arab and Islamic world.

Ex-Director of the NSA Gen. William Odom correctly called the U.S. invasion the greatest strategic blunder in American history. But Bush, un-chastened, went on to preach a crusade for democracy with the goal of "ending tyranny in our world."

What is the root of these astounding beliefs -- that Stalin would be a partner for peace, that if we built up Mao's China she would become benign and benevolent, that we could reshape Islamic nations into replicas of Western democracies, that we could eradicate tyranny?

Today, we are replicating these historic follies.

After our victory in the Cold War, we not only plunged into the Middle East to remake it in our image, we issued war guarantees to every ex-member state of the Warsaw Pact, and threatened Russia with war if she ever intervened again in the Baltic Republics.

No Cold War president would have dreamed of issuing such an in-your-face challenge to a great nuclear power like Russia.

If Putin's Russia does not become the pacifist nation it has never been, these guarantees will one day be called. And America will either back down -- or face a nuclear confrontation.

Why would we risk something like this?

Consider this crazed ideology of free trade globalism with its roots in the scribblings of 19th-century idiot savants, not one of whom ever built a great nation.

Adhering religiously to free trade dogma, we have run up $12 trillion in trade deficits since Bush I. Our cities have been gutted by the loss of plants and factories. Workers' wages have stagnated. The economic independence Hamilton sought and Republican presidents from Lincoln to McKinley achieved is history.

But the greatest risk we are taking, based on utopianism, is the annual importation of well over a million legal and illegal immigrants, many from the failed states of the Third World, in the belief we can create a united, peaceful and harmonious land of 400 million, composed of every race, religion, ethnicity, tribe, creed, culture and language on earth.

Where is the historic evidence for the success of this experiment, the failure of which could mean the end of America as one nation and one people?
