Common Sense Commentary: When the music stops, people stop
singing, stop dancing, start talking, start complaining, jeering, laughing or start leaving. Not so with our U.S. troops in a war zone or wherever they might be. When its the National Anthem, and the music stops without finishing, they continue standing at attention and finish it with their own voices as they always finish a job, an assignment, a command, a battle or a war. It isn't our troops who give the victory to the enemy, its the News Media, cowards back home and politicians ... not our troops or law officers. 

When the Music Stopped. (For those who are unaware: At all military base theaters, the National Anthem is played before the movie begins.) This is written from a Chaplain in Iraq: I recently attended a showing of 'Superman 3' here at  LSA Anaconda. We have a large auditorium that we use for movies as well as memorial services and other large gatherings.   As is the custom at all military bases, we stood to attention when The National Anthem began before the main feature. All was going well until three-quarters of the way through The National Anthem, the music stopped.Now, what would happen if this occurred with 1,000 18-to-22-year-olds back in the States?  I imagine that there would be hoots, catcalls, laughter, a few rude comments, and everyone would sit down and yell for the movie to begin. Of course, that is, only if they had stood for The National Anthem in the first place. Here in Iraq, 1,000 soldiers continued to stand at attention, eyes fixed forward. The music started again, and the soldiers continued to quietly stand at attention.  Again, though, at the same point, the music stopped. What would you expect 1,000 soldiers standing at attention to do? Frankly, I expected some laughter, and everyone would eventually sit down and wait for the movie to start. No!  You could have heard a pin  drop while every soldier continued to stand at attention. Suddenly, there was a lone voice from the front of the auditorium, then a dozen voices, and soon the room was filled with the voices of a thousand soldiers, finishing where the recording left off: "And the rockets' red glare, the bombs bursting in air, gave proof through the night that our flag was still there. Long-Continuing Swiss Custom Too Sinful For Muslims

It is both the route up to success and victory by its adherents and the route down to failure and defeat by its acquiescent conformists. Turning up the heat on the frog in a pot of water one little degree at a time doesn't shock him into jumping out of the pot, so he basks in the warmth of the water till his goose is cooked. The shift from Constitutional Law to Islamic Sharia Law is a process of pressure and intimidation, by Muslims, one small, submissive acceptance at a time by the targeted nation. RB

The Swiss Handshake Between Teacher And Students Rejected By Immigrant Muslims

Switzerland - What's in a handshake? Sometimes it's the little things that are most telling.  At first glance this may seem like a trivial story but what lies hidden beneath it could have serious consequences for our children, grandchildren and nation. 

In Switzerland it has long been customary for students to shake the hands of their teachers at the beginning and end of the school day.  It's a sign of solidarity and mutual respect between teacher and pupil, one that is thought to encourage the right classroom atmosphere.  Justice Minister Simonetta Sommaruga recently felt compelled to further explain that shaking hands was part of Swiss culture and daily life. 

And the reason she felt compelled to speak out about the handshake is that two Muslim brothers, aged 14 and 15, who have lived in Switzerland for several years (and thus are familiar with its mores), in the town of Therwil, near Basel, refused to shake the hands of their teacher, a woman, because, they claimed, this would violate Muslim teachings that contact with the opposite sex is allowed only with family members. 

At first the school authorities decided to avoid trouble, and initially granted the boys an exemption from having to shake the hand of any female teacher. But an uproar followed, as Mayor Reto Wolf explained to the BBC: "the community was unhappy with the decision taken by the school.  In our culture and in our way of communication a handshake is normal and sends out respect for the other person, and this has to be brought home to the children in school." 

Therwil's Educational Department reversed the school's decision, explaining in a statement on May 25 that the school's exemption was lifted because "the public interest with respect to equality between men and women and the integration of foreigners significantly outweighs the freedom of religion."  It added that a teacher has the right to demand a handshake. Furthermore, if the students refused to shake hands again "the sanctions called for by law will be applied," which included a possible fine of up to 
5,000 dollars. 

This uproar in Switzerland, where many people were enraged at the original exemption granted to the Muslim boys, did not end after that exemption was itself overturned by the local Educational Department.  The Swiss understood quite clearly that this was more than a little quarrel over handshakes; it was a fight over whether the Swiss would be masters in their own house, or whether they would be forced to yield, by the granting of special treatment, to the Islamic view of the proper relations between the sexes.  It is one battle – small but to the Swiss significant – between overweening Muslim immigrants and the indigenous Swiss. 

Naturally, once the exemption was withdrawn, all hell broke loose among Muslims in Switzerland.  The Islamic Central Council of Switzerland, instead of yielding quietly to the Swiss decision to uphold the handshaking custom, criticized the ruling in hysterical terms, claiming that the enforcement of the handshaking is "totalitarian" (!) because its intent is to "forbid religious people from meeting their obligations to God." 

That, of course, was never the "intent" of the long-standing handshaking custom, which was a nearly-universal custom in Switzerland, and in schools had to do only with encouraging the right classroom atmosphere of mutual respect between instructor and pupil, of which the handshake was one aspect. 

The Swiss formulation of the problem – weighing competing claims — will be familiar to Americans versed in Constitutional adjudication.  In this case "the public interest with respect to equality" of the sexes and the "integration of foreigners" (who are expected to adopt Swiss ways, not force the Swiss to exempt them from some of those ways) were weighed against the "religious obligations to God" of Muslims, and the former interests found to outweigh the latter. 

What this case shows is that even at the smallest and seemingly inconsequential level, Muslims are challenging the laws and customs of the Infidels among whom they have been allowed to settle [i.e., stealth jihad toward sharia dominance].  Each little victory, or defeat, will determine whether Muslims will truly integrate into a Western society or, instead, refashion that society to meet Muslim requirements. 

The handshake has been upheld and, what's more, a stiff fine now will be imposed on those who continue to refuse to shake hands with a female teacher.  This is a heartening sign of non-surrender by the Swiss.  But the challenges of the Muslims within Europe to the laws and customs of the indigenes have no logical end and will not stop.   

And the greater the number of Muslims allowed to settle in Europe, the stronger and more frequent their challenges will be.  They are attempting not to integrate, but rather to create, for now, a second, parallel society, and eventually, through sheer force of numbers from both migration and by outbreeding the Infidels, to fashion not a parallel society but one society — now dominated by Muslim sharia. 

The Swiss handshaking dispute has received some, but not enough, press attention.  Presumably, it's deemed too inconsequential a matter to bother with.  But the Swiss know better.  And so should we. 

There's an old Scottish saying that in one variant reads: "Many a little makes a mickle."  That is, the accumulation of many little things leads to one big thing.  That's what's happening in Europe today.  This was one victory for the side of sanity.  There will need to be a great many more.

As in an illegal, dog, fighting rink, the pit bull can be outweighed, less agile, and less talented, but gets his jaws on his opponent's neck  and is slung around by the larger dog, but the Pit Bull never lets go until his enemy tires, falls and then dies. I don't blame pit bulls for all the attacks and killings they do. They are just animals, but their owners are the ones whose judgment is in question. Seeking A Weathervane To Confirm The World's Direction

Common Sense Commentary: “They look at the weathervane for the direction of the wind.” – Sumerian text, ca 1600 BC. I am not sure whether that Sumerian's observation, 3600 years ago, was a ridicule of people who couldn't tell the direction of the wind by its feel upon the skin or if his observation was on the importance of weather-vanes in knowing the wind's exact direction, in that single spot, moment by moment. Either way, the winds, as are worldly events, conditions, and nations, are constantly changing. Heraclitus, a Greek philosopher, said it first with the comment, "change is the only  constant in life." Louis L'Amour, the author, philosopher and historian rephrased the quote to “The only thing that never changes is that everything changes.”

Human nature, like the wind, is a thing that hasn't changed much in its unchangeable unpredictability. Most of us are constantly seeking signs, news, indications, and trends to know which way things are headed into the future, and trying to prepare for what is coming. We know change is certain but which way, when and how is more difficult. Unlike news reports, world events and "expert" commentary, which are as changeable as the wind on that nervous weather-vane out on the barn, Bible Prophecy is like an arrow sign pointing firmly in one direction all the time. It has accurately pointed directly into the future at unthinkable, world changing events such as the virgin birth of Jesus Christ, His crucifixion, His Resurrection, His assention into heaven, establishment of His church, the church age, its persecution, the restoration of the nation of Israel, revelations of conditions at His second coming, the resurrection and rapture of His people, the rise of Antichrist, the tribulation period, Judgement day and Christ's millennial kingdom on earth for a thousand years.  

You won't find a weather-vane as steady and unchangeable as God's word, the holy Scriptures, in the Bible. It is more like a compass pointing directly at magnetic north, day and night, year after year, all the time. Magnetic north is at a point on Ellesmere Island in Northern Canada where the northern lines of attraction enter the Earth. It is not the North Pole. It is a mammoth, unseen magnetic force affecting the entire earth and every compass. 

If you want to know what the future holds, read the Bible. If you want to know how God deals with people and nations, study how He has always dealt with them... in the Bible. If you want to know where the world is headed, you will find the answer in the Bible. Don't put too much stock in what people say about the Bible, they all differ on some beliefs. Read the Bible for yourself and yield to God's Holy Spirit who will ".... guide you into all truth...." Jesus promised it in John 16:13.

Common Sense Commentary: During the Common Sense days of the past, drug addiction was universally known to be simply a sin, bad behavior, or weak character. Ahh, but times have changed, the Liberal elite experts are now totally converted to Political Correctness and regulated, lock-step thought. Addiction now is an illness, a disease, societies fault and deserving to be subsidized and treated at tax payer's expense. But, lo, unlike other illnesses, it is an illness self created by itself  and a disease without a germ or preventive medication. Addiction, of whatever description is, by nature, at its beginning, voluntary, of free will choice. Then it's roots grow deeper and deeper and deeper until it is involuntary, automatic and out of control. That is why we must deal with temptation at its first appearance, that day, that hour, that minute. If it is not resisted immediately, it compounds itself with each yielding commitment and becomes more and more difficult and then impossible to control, but it, instead, controls you. Read the following verse over and over and pray your way into its truth so that it becomes a deep rooted part of who your are.... with God's grace and guidance. This is what Common Sense parents taught their children when I was young... "If you never take the first drink, you will never be an alcoholic". That old axiom is also true with any and every temptation to sin. At first acquiescence to sin, God's Spirit, our bodies or conscience screams back at us ... STOP, DON'T TAKE ANOTHER SWALLOW, DRAG OR TINGLE!!!  Violating that warning could be your unreturnable  cross-roads of life.

A lonely Japanese man who amassed more than six tons of porn died when a huge pile of magazines fell on top of him.

And even more tragically, the man's body was only discovered six months later when the landlord entered the flat to find out why the rent had not been paid.

The man's lowly death was revealed by a member of the cleaning team, who said his company had been hired to remove the magazines discreetly in a way that would not be noticed by neighbours and the man's family to save them from the shame.

He said that the dead man, a 50-year-old former carmaker identified only by the name Joji, had died buried underneath under a pile of the pornographic magazines.

It was unclear if he had suffered a heart attack and fallen into the stacks of magazines which had then fallen on top of him, or whether he had been crushed by the mass of paper. 

But the cleaner said that if he was still conscious, the paper would probably have muffled his cries.

Every space in the flat was filled with piles of magazines, which also stacked on tables and on shelves.

There were also clippings from erotic magazines where it appeared the man had cut out his favourite articles, and thrown away the rest of the magazine. 

Despite his trimming, at the time of his death the collection weighed in at six metric tons (13,228 pounds).

All I know Is That I know Nothing ... But God

Common Sense Commentary:  "As for me, all I know is that I know nothing." Socrates. Aristotle learned from Plato and Plato from Socrates.... but we have all learned from the three of them.
So one of the most analytical brains in history, who observed and absorbed all the information he could search out on the mysteries of the world and universe, came to realize that the more he learned, the more he understood that he knew nothing. It was his advanced knowledge of a massive volume of information that awakened the revelation in him that the more he knew the more he realized his total knowledge was infinitesimal. This is the paradox of all paradoxes, that the more you know, the more you know that you know nothing compared to the universal, limitless volume of information which only God's mind can contain. He is omniscient. We know so little. But God has given us the capacity to know all we need to know about ourselves, Him, His will, and purpose for us in worshiping and in serving Him. Beyond that, learn all you can learn of facts and truth, the world and universe, but major on simply knowing God and His will for you. "But seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you." Matt.6:33. Jesus is here saying that the most anyone can know is to know God and his righteousness.

So the most any of us can know is God and we can know that we know that we know Him through Jesus Christ. We can't even know ourselves ... accurately... unless we know simply that we are sinners saved by grace through faith in Jesus.

As Paul said ... "For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified." 1 Cor.2:2.

He who is known as the wisest man who ever lived, the writer of the wisdom books, Proverbs and Ecclesiastes, wrote in the history of Kings, "... O Lord my God, thou hast made thy servant king instead of David my father: and I am but a little child: I know not how to go out or come in." 1 Kings 2:7. Here was the true greatness of King Solomon... humility if the midst of power, fame, wealth and knowledge. To know that you know not....much. 

Those who think they know the most ... know the least of truth and of God.

While I was getting a coffee, I overheard 7 young people (22-26 years old, 5 males, 2 female) who have been protesting in downtown Portland the last two nights. I told them I was doing research and asked nicely if they would answer some questions. They were cool with it, so I sat down and went for it.

Ø  Three voted. Of the four who didn't, none was registered to vote.

Ø  None of them researched, independently, either candidate.

Ø  All were for Hillary but preferred Bernie.

Ø  Why the Democratic Candidate? "More things are taken care of."  "Time to have a woman President."· "Democrats aren't sexist or racist."

Ø  Six of them live at home.

Ø  All are covered by their parents insurance.

Ø  Two have "real" jobs.

Ø  Three are neither working, nor trying to find a job.

Ø  Parents pay for everything in their life or subsidize it.

Ø  Six get money from mom or dad every month.

Ø  Two have been on unemployment for 6+ months.

Ø  One is at Portland State U, doesn't work, and parents pay for everything.

Ø  All 7 said Trump is a racist/sexist. I asked to cite proof ... "That tape, man!"

Ø  When I asked, as a man myself, "Have you ever said anything like that when you’ve been hanging out with your buddies? All five males said "Yes."

Ø  Would you say it if you knew you were on tape? All five answered "No."

Ø  What's the difference? I asked. "You've all said bad stuff like that.  Does that mean you hate women and are a sexual predator?" Nothing.  No answer.

Ø  None could tell me how our government works ... They didn't know how laws are passed, how the House of Representatives or the Senate work.

Ø  None could explain how a bill is passed.

Ø  Only one could tell me the difference between legal and illegal immigration. One of them said, "Legal immigration is when you immigrate legally." Seriously.

Ø  None could explain the purpose of the Electoral College or how it works.

In 10 minutes they felt they had explained everything. Nice kids ... But so ignorant. I know some awesome, phenomenal young adults; but I'm afraid the majority are like these seven. Too many "participation" trophies, too much coddling by parents and teachers.

But I guarantee you that all 7 know who is cheating on whom in Hollywood. And Democrats want to keep the present public education system that produces kids like that. You cannot blame the youth for this; it’s the establishment that’s at fault here and it needs to be changed. Donald Trump gets that. Unlike the moron socialists that can never grasp the larger picture.

In 1944 18 year-olds stormed the beach at Normandy into almost certain death. In 2016 18-year-olds feel unsafe because words hurt their feelings.

"Witches" Announce Their Opposition To Trump

Common Sense Commentary: The more the Liberal Socialists and Democrats scream, lie and attack Donald Trump, and his supporters, the more ridiculous and vile they become, and the more I am convinced that God must be using Trump as he used the Persian King Darius in delivering God's people, Israel from the bondage of Babylon. Trump's enemies are turning out to be the same people who are the enemies of Christ, His churches, and of Israel. I have never been a great fan of Trump, but when all of the long list of those who denigrate and persecute God's people are revealing themselves to be enemies of Trump also, they are convincing me that God must be using Trump for His own divine purposes. If Trump's lifestyle and rhetoric, in the primaries, turned me against him, the actions against him by Hollywood, Democrats,
Soros, Socialists, and the now Trump hating "witches" have turned me to his side of the fight. If I know anything about the battle of the ages between Lucifer and God, the evil I see trying to destroy Trump is on the Lucifer side of that battle ... certainly not God's side of it.

The latest group of heretics to take an open public position in opposition of Trump, his administration and his supporters is "The Witches of the world". Not that I put a lot of realistic credibility in people who call themselves "Witches", but at best they are a bunch of deluded, misguided lost souls. At the worst they are instruments of Satan and enemies of God. Whatever powers they may or may not have, as self professed witches, their intent is anti Christic and anti Christian. RB

These "witches" and false prophets remind me of the false prophets of Baal who were in a competition with God's prophet Elijah. Elijah had challenged them to a "contest" to see if their god or his was the most powerful. They went up on Mount Carmel where was an altar of the Lord. There the 450 prophets of Baal heaped up wood on the altar and put a slaughtered calf upon it as an offering to their god, Baal. They prayed to Baal all day long, screamed at him and jumped on the altar begging Baal to consume the sacrifice... They grew angry and cut themselves up seriously, threw dust into the air and pleaded with Baal ... but not a word, spark or move came from him, so they tore the altar up. Then Elijah and his fellow believers rebuilt the altar, heaped wood upon it and placed their slaughtered calf on top of the wood. Elijah had them dig a trench around the altar and pour three barrels of water upon the entire thing. Then Elijah prayed to the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob to show the great crowd of people that He, Jehovah, was the true God. Fiery Lightening struck the altar and consumed the sacrifice, the wood, stones, water and dust of the altar. You would think the outcome of our recent election would convince the screamers that God could have turned it their way if He had so desired. After all, the whole world thought the witch would win. Suppose you had a friend who joined the Ku Klux Klan, an evil organization whose guiding mantra is their own superiority and a demeaning contempt and danger to all who disagreed with them. Or, suppose your friend joined the Nazi Party which embraces basically the same creed.... or the Communist Party, or a Muslim terrorist organization. You might reason with your friend, argue against his lack of judgment, point out the error of his new friends and pray for him. But, if he was intransigent and embraced the hate, error and evil anyway, you would have to cease to be his friend.... Right? "Can two walk together, except they be agreed?" Amos 3:3.  

So, imagine a Political Party which supports the killing of unborn babies, legalizing same sex marriages, legalizing illegal narcotics use, forcing all public restrooms to be open to both sexes including children, open borders to illegal entry, total government support for everyone who doesn't want to work, and defending criminals from law enforcement. You don't have to imagine it ... there is such a Political Party.... It is made up of eternal souls for whom Jesus died and they need to hear the gospel. And yes, God will save them if they repent and believe and I will gladly witness Christ to them ... I care for their eternal souls ... but they are not my friends. God loves their souls (John 3:16) but hates what they do.... "Thou (God) hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity...." Heb.1:9 

Jesus said..."And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity." Matt.7:23.

God commands His people ...
"And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them." Eph.5:11.

"Love" Is An Often Misused And Abused Word

Common Sense Commentary: Human love, for a person, grows from "acquaintance" to "like" to "friend" to "affection" to affection multiplied by a hundred, a thousand or a million ....Human love, in the New Testament, is in various forms of  the Greek word "phileo". It is often fickle and unreliable and misapplied ... quite different from Godly Love. Phileo love can range from warm affection to white hot obsession. Many a person has given his or her life for love and many others have been murdered because of it. A mother's love for her child is usually one of the very strongest phileo loves. A child's phileo love for his parents usually lasts a lifetime. The love between a man and a woman can nurture, strengthen and secure or destroy one or both. People phileo love food, pleasure, position and power. These human types of love are various forms of "phileo" as in pedophile, philanthropist, and Philadelphia, meaning human love. The "love" of God expressed in the Greek words "agape" and "agapao" is as different from "phileo" as Giovanni loving spaghetti and "God so loving the world that he gave his only begotten Son...." to die on the cross for sinners.

In the terminology of the lost world, the word "love" is often just referring to sex. In that vulgar concept, "making love" never means being kind to someone or cherishing them or making them a cake or helping them across the street. The word "love" has thus been as corrupted as the word "gay".

Considering those contrasts, what do little children think "love" means? RB

A group of professional people posed this question to a group of 4 to 8 year-olds , 'What does love mean?'

Godly love, in the New Testament, the Greek word "Agape", may be experienced by humans too through faith in Christ. RB

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." Jn.3:16.

"By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another." John 13:35.

"... the fruit of the Spirit is love ...." Gal.5:22. 

"He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love." 1 John 4:8.
