Common Sense Commentary: It takes more blind faith to believe the world and universe got here by accident and by itself than to believe it took an all powerful, genius Creator to do it . Though this may be humanly unimaginable, the first option is absolutely impossible.
My wife, Bettie, walks in the park behind our house every day with our poodle, Shadow. Almost every day she comes in to tell me about another Christian lady she had met while walking. Invariably, they talk of Christ and their faith and of the anti Christian spirit among so many of our political leaders and government in general. They also discuss the unbelievable things happening in our country and the world. She is always blessed and refreshed to be able to witness to others passing by. Last week, on her way to see her mother in an assisted living facility, she was passing through the lobby when she saw a group of elderly Christian women gathered there talking openly about Jesus and the awful mess the world and especially our country is in. They were unashamedly discussing spiritual things publicly for all to hear. Bettie joined in and felt a spiritual exhilaration to witness this open expression of faith in a secular setting.
Today, I went to the VA Hospital to see a doctor. He has always been thoughtful and efficient but today his Christian faith was overflowing his heart. Though I am sure it must be forbidden by the political powers that be, it bothered him not that passers by heard our conversation of faith in Christ and of the inept, corrupt and anti Christian policies of our government. He then sent me to another specialist who began almost immediately telling me of his faith, testimony and that he had just read a news article about a "One World Government" being planned by George Soros that fit Bible prophecy precisely. I had read the same article not two hours previously and as we discussed it, people were passing by his office and listening in. About that time, a bearded young vet who looked like a 1960's hippy came in and said, "I heard your conversation from the waiting area and just had to be a part of it. With the door wide open, he grabbed our hands and began to pray "in Jesus blessed name." I thought, "where am I, in church, the twilight zone or in a government building?" When I left there my other doctor stopped me in the hall, with another patient, and we again talked of our Lord and His Word. Then, as I was leaving, I stopped off at the restroom and another veteran was in there passing out gospel tracts. An old vet .... looking at the tract given him said, "Christians are coming our of the woodwork." He sounded a bit frustrated but, the fact is, I think he was right but maybe not in the way he meant it.
If Christians are finally beginning to come out of the woodwork, it is the "DOOR" framework not the baseboards. Jesus said "I am the door of the sheep." Jn.10:7. also, "I am the door: by me if any man enter in,he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture." Jn.10:9. Jesus is "the door of the sheep." When Christians openly witness and talk of Christ and Scripture, they do indeed go in and out that "Door and find pasture". It is what we were born again to do. Worship, praise, prayer and preaching in the sheep-fold (church) is simply preparation and power generation to do the main work of the Christian .... witnessing to the world of the gospel of God's grace and love in sending Jesus to die for our sins. Mt.16:15.
It was persecution which drove those early, Jerusalem Christians out of their Holy City comfort zone and unto the ends of the known earth of that time. They scattered in all directions and carried the gospel of our Lord Christ/Messiah to multiplied thousands in other places and planted churches wherever they went. Mt.26:31, Acts8:1-4 & 11:19. Please read these verses.
So too, where ease, comfort and prosperity failed to motivate Christians in America to openly witness of Christ, in gratitude , maybe tribulation, discomfort and persecution will succeed. We are about to find out.
Pass it on. RB
