Then the next Prophetic chapter of historic record follows in v.5
"Then shall he speak unto them in his wrath, and vex them in his sore displeasure." Psm.2:5
The Lord shall laugh at him: for he seeth that his day is coming. Psm.37:13
But thou, O Lord, shalt laugh at them; thou shalt have all the heathen in derision. Psm. 59:8
Ye have set at nought all my counsel, and would none of my reproof: I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your fear cometh; Psm. 1:25-26
David's original question was, "Why do the heathen rage and and the people imagine a vain thing? Why do the kings and rulers of the earth take counsel against the LORD, Jesus, and His people? Why do they think they can break away from God who gave them life and a world full of air, water, food, and every kind of useful resource? We can neither breath, nor think, nor exist except God give us each breath and heartbeat.
The demonic idea that we can survive for one second, without God, is so preposterous, so ridiculous, that it causes God to laugh men to scorn at their infantile stupidity. So is it any wonder that the Creator, looking down, as a father, at his teenage son, who is saying, I don't need you; you can't stop me from smoking pot; I can cuss, steal your stuff, lute, lie, and make you give me what I want whenever I want it or I'll report you to Child Protective Service for abusing me. And the father responds, "I brought you into this world ... and I can take you out." Well, you haters of God, He brought you into this world, and He can take you out .... and will, in his own time. Some of you much sooner than you think.
"I saw the wicked buried, who had come and gone .... and they were forgotten in the city where they had so done .... Because sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, therefore the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil. Though a sinner do evil an hundred times, and his days be prolonged, yet .... it shall not be well with the wicked, neither shall he prolong his days, which are as a shadow; because he feareth not before God." Ecc. 8:10-13
