Global framework now being laid
The AntiChrist's "Tribulation War" against indomitable, freewill, freedom thinkers who refuse the Mark of the Beast, will be, at least in part, financial. "And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name." In a world of Neuclear, laser, HiTech, and biological wars, financial war is far more practical, cheaper and avoids mass destruction of resources and death of tax payers. Cutting off unco-operative rebels from buying or selling in a digital, financial world pin-points the pressure on each individual with no collaterial damage. Take away his buying and selling power in a non-agrarian, HiTech world, and you take away his life.
So who is winning ground in this war?

That the Western, previously civilized world is in decline has been known to anyone with an ounce of curiosity and little analysis of data points.
Before Xi’s ascension to power one could have argued that this trend was worrying, but not terrifying.
What makes it terrifying is that Xi managed to abolish the two-term limit for his presidency with an overwhelming majority (2,959 to 2 and 3 abstaining votes - no prizes for guessing where those 5 guys are now).
He then proceeded to have his name enshrined in the constitution. Seriously.
