Common Sense Commentary: The one thing that will not change, in this world, is change itself. Great changes, in every area of our lives, are upon us .... and the entire world.
The rapidly failing, "professing" Christian world of Catholicism and Protestant Denominationalism is being undermined and swept up together by a new, progressive, more vibrant and determined, false religion. It is a religion embracing and usurping all religions, governments, commerce, currency, medicine, education and technology. Possible for the first time in human history, its doctrine is world unity, equality, globalization of services, and all human necessities, and religions, under one international, computerized, central control network. Islam, a little horn, also embodies all of these areas. The power behind this one world, one people, one goal, humanized, false religion is using immigrating Islam to neutralize barriers between religions and between nations. This neutralization will grind down differences, customs and individuality within world populations. This is necessary, within the masses of humanity, to create an acquiescent, pliable people of which to mold the Kingdom of Antichrist. Through all of this world crisis and the rise of the powers of darkness, leading up to the Rapture, there will continue to exist the true churches of Jesus Christ within the Kingdom of God, on Earth .... truly born again Christians. Jesus promised "... upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it." Matt.16:18.
He is building His church right now with local, visible assemblies. "Church" (ekklesia) means "called out assembly". It is not a church until it assembles. There is no "universal church" until the Rapture when it assembles for the first time as the bride of Christ in heaven. There is a counterfeit Christ and a counterfeit church (assembly), as well as counterfeit bibles.
The restoration and continuation, in the vein of a "United Tower of Babel" (one people, one language, one goal), will be "Mystery Babylon" of prophecy and of the Revelation. I say, "of prophecy" because there is entirely too much said about "Babylon" by the prophets for it not to have prophetic as well as historical significance. Babylon, and the King of Babylon, were not only a historical place and figure, but are also a prophetic place and a prophetic religious/governmental ruler. Babylon and the King of Babylon are mentioned nearly 250 times in the Bible. About 200 of those are in the O.T. prophetic books. Babylon is also of vital prominence in the book of the Revelation where it is not in reference to the Old Testament city but is in reference to the prophetic, "Mystery Babylon" of Revelation 17:5, a city and system within the future Kingdom of Antichrist.
"Babel" means "Gate of God" which is an abomination of "confusion". It, like Antichrist, is a counterfeit of the real thing. A counterfeit religion or church, so to speak.
Here are references to that prophetic Babylon in the Revelation....
Revelation 14:8 "And there followed another angel, saying, Babylon is fallen, is fallen, that great city, because she made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication ......"(illicit worship is spiritual fornication against God).
Revelation 16:19 "And the great city was divided into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell: and great Babylon came in remembrance before God, to give unto her the cup of the wine of the fierceness of his wrath."
Revelation 17:5 "And upon her forehead was a name written, MYSTERY BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER (False Mother church) OF HARLOTS (illicit churches) AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH."
Revelation 18:2 "And he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying, Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird."
Revelation 18:10 "Standing afar off for the fear of her torment, saying, Alas, alas, that great city Babylon, that mighty city! for in one hour is thy judgment come."
Revelation 18:21 "And a mighty angel took up a stone like a great millstone, and cast it into the sea, saying, Thus with violence shall that great city Babylon be thrown down, and shall be found no more at all."
