Of A Thousand Puzzling Questions, Just One Question Is Most Important

Here are a few I have been asked over 65 years as a pastor, (Mostly by youngsters).  These are not exact quotes:

Is zero a number?

If not, why does the 0 in 10 add 9 to the 1 ?

What color are black people who are tan ?

Is black a color ?

Is white a color or a not a color ?

Why are tan and pink people called white ?

Why aren't we all "people of color" ?

If skin is as thin as paper, and everything under it is red, why aren't we all red people ?

Is a daddy I never knew my parent ?

Is the step father who raises you a parent ?

Is an exaggerator a liar ?

If 1,000 sins will doom you to hell, will one ?

If not one ... how many does it take?

What if exaggeration is that one sin?

Is an atheist's unbelief in God his religion ?

If an Atheist says "No God", does an Agnostic half way know God? 

If there is only "one Lord, one faith, one baptism" Eph.4:5, which one faith is it ?

What is the eternity of the 4200 other religions people believe in?

Is Christianity the only one with a risen, living Savior?

If there is another... which religion is that ?

The most important question of all is, since Christianity is the one true faith,"Have you accepted Christ as your Savior?" RB

24 Deficients Full Of Words But Destitute Of The Truth

Reaching for the world's highest seat of power

Fox News reports on the Democrat Candidates' words...

An NBC News analyst declared President Trump the winner of the first Democratic presidential debate of the 2020 election cycle.
Author and reporter Jonathan Allen expressed surprise that Trump emerged "largely unscathed" as the field of 10 candidates mostly avoided direct attacks on him.
Allen said the Democrats seemed more focused on positioning themselves furthest to the left to win over primary voters, rather than appealing to the swing voters that decided the 2016 election.
"For long stretches, it seemed, they completely forgot about the man who has been at the center of pretty much every discussion among Democrats for the last two-plus years — the man they're competing to take on next year. The obvious reason: The motivation to beat each other was, on this night, more urgent than defeating Trump — a life-or-death moment for some of their campaigns. Trump was the chief beneficiary of that dynamic," Allen wrote.
He noted that after the debate, Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., argued that ignoring Trump was intentional because "he’s an old show that people are getting tired of.”
Allen argued that by doing so, Democrats could allow Trump "to exploit their divisions and position himself for re-election" and "he was one step closer to that after Wednesday's debate."
The sentiment was shared by MSNBC host Joe Scarborough, who said it was “a missed opportunity” for Democrats to not go after frontrunner Joe Biden or President Trump. Another MSNBC commentator, Donny Deutsch declared confidently after the debate that none of the 10 candidates on the stage could defeat Trump next year, including Warren.
Meantime, New York Post columnist John Podhoretz saw things similarly, taking particular issue with the candidates' far-left push on immigration. He said the candidates "spent far more time talking about how they would help illegal immigrants than about how they would help the voters they most need to win over" and that will benefit Trump.
"If I were Brad Parscale, Donald Trump’s campaign manager, I would be dancing a jig — because if this is the way the Democrats and the media want to discuss the economy and immigration, he is going to have a field day with the quotes they will generate from now until the election," he wrote.

A Bible that once belonged to President Abraham Lincoln resurfaced 150 years after his death, pointing to the faith he clung to at a pivotal moment in American history and when he was growing more overtly religious.
Lincoln's faith has long been debated over the years. He was known as the "village atheist" as a young man but he gave one of the most explicitly religious speeches ever by a president during his second inaugural address. Scholars say the new discovery helps solidify his faith in his later years.

On Thursday, the Bible will go on display for the first time at the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum in Springfield, Ill.

The 16th president was given the Holy Book on June 16, 1864, during a rare wartime trip to Philadelphia raising money for wounded soldiers, where Lincoln donated 48 signed copies of the Emancipation Proclamation that were sold for fundraising. He was gifted the 18-pound, gilted Bible decorated with the words "faith," "hope," and "charity" by the hospital that treated wounded and ill soldiers during the Civil War.

A few months later, upon receiving another copy of the Bible as a gift, Lincoln wrote, "In regard to this Great Book, I have but to say, it is the best gift God has given to man. All the good the Saviour gave to the world was communicated through this book. But for it, we could not know right from wrong. All things most desirable for man's welfare, here and hereafter, are to be found portrayed in it." 

Mary Lincoln, a widow after Lincoln's assassination, gave the Bible, the sixth known to historians that was owned by the Lincoln family, to their neighbor who lived across the street.

The neighbor was the Rev. Noyes W. Miner, a Baptist minister who read the book of Job at the Republican president's funeral. On the back, the first lady inscribed: “Mrs. Abraham Lincoln to N.W. Miner, D.D., Oct. 15, 1872.”

She wrote that Miner was "a friend very much beloved by my husband" and historians speculate the former first lady gave the Bible to Miner as a way to protect her husband's legacy as she had angrily rejected assertions that he was an atheist. 

Miner once wrote that Lincoln “believed not only in the overwhelming Providence of God, but in the divinity of the Sacred Scriptures" and that the first lady told him at Ford's Theater that Lincoln was planning a post-White House visit to Jerusalem to “see the places hallowed by the footsteps of the Saviour.”

On Oct. 15, 1881, Miner wrote: "the bullet from the pistol of the assassin entered his brain, and the soul of the great and good President was carried by the angels to the New Jerusalem above." 

Another Bible owned by Lincoln was used by former President Barack Obama at his 2009 and 2013 inauguration and it was also used by President Trump at his 2017 inauguration.

The recently unveiled Bible will go on public display at the request of Miner's family, who passed the keepsake down from generation to generation.

“The donation of this Bible offers a new opportunity to reflect on Lincoln’s religious beliefs,” Ian Hunt, head of acquisitions for the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum, said in a statement. “It’s a tangible connection to the fascinating question of what Lincoln believed and how those beliefs evolved as he endured tragedy after tragedy.”

U.S. Supreme Court Moving In A Different Direction Now

By The Grace Of God And A Trump

Does any honest person doubt that if the Democrats had won the presidency, and Hilary had appointed the new judges on the court, the symbol below, of what America stands for would have been doomed to destruction?  Whoever might think otherwise doesn't keep up with where the Dems have been taking us. Even if an establishment Republican (RINO) had won the presidency and appointed the new judges, the chances of this cross surviving would have been in doubt.  And that, in turn, would have set the precedent for the Left-Wing Socialist Dems to carry on their fight and try to remove all the crosses in Arlington National Cemetery ... which is also on government property. You can bet they would have tried. 

Here is the Supreme Court's decision which foretells the new Constitutional, Conservative, direction the Court is heading since President Trump appointed strong partiots and Pro-Lifers to tip the balance "right". Plus, he has also appointed 150 lower, federal court judges, approved by the Republican Senate, which Obama somehow neglected to fill. That also is the hand of God at work for America. RB

Lying And False Accusations Are At Critical Mass

Everything has its limits, when it decays, disintegrates, explodes or dies. Nations, institutions, and individuals have reached that point many times in the past and have ceased to exist or turned to ashes.
Our beloved country has been exceptional since its Christian founding and has weathered every storm, war and crisis... until now. Today we are about a Democrat inch from entering the disintegration of our Constitutional Republic by an internal, explosive insurrection called "Progressive Left-Wing Socialism".  Its strategy is to lie and falsely accuse its way into political power ... and it is embraced by half of our U.S. citizens.
It is the godzilla demon which hates freedom, morality, Christian worshipers, self-reliance, free Enterprise, the sanctity of life, holy matrimony, and every other precept of God and His Holy Word. But it often claims a belief in God and swears alliance to religion.

That godzilla demon, the father of the lie, Lucifer, was renamed, by Jehovah God, "Satan" which means "False Accuser".     "And Satan stood up against Israel...." 1 Chron.21:1.    

Jesus fully exposed him as a devil in John 8:42-44.     "Jesus said unto them, If God were your Father, ye would love me ....Why do ye not understand my speech? even because ye cannot hear my word. Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.

Lucifer lied to, and misled, a third of the angels, who were cast out of heaven with him... and "cut down to the ground" Isa.14:12.

Since he first approached human beings, in Eden, he has been lying and accusing God and God's people and seducing the entire human race to lie, falsely accuse others, and disobey God. Of all the good that technology has benefited our race, Satan has also used it to spread his lies and accusations. Movies, pornography, radio, TV, and the Internets social media, Face book, etc.  "Fake" news and false accusations are not only tools of Satan but are being used as weapons by his illegitimate offspring, according to Jesus, in the verse above. 

The sin slaves that follow Satan, and do his bidding, seem fearless in their lies and false accusations, which is common among those who do not believe in God or eternal judgment. They relish in things which make a Christian's blood run cold. This explains why their political and moral positions seem insane or, at least, stupid. But their leaders are neither. They may be highly educated and intelligent, while at the same time, being motivated by their father, the devil.

There has never been a time in American history when there was more false information being disseminated under the guise of fact
while common sense truth is being ignored or denied.

Here Is One Reason Justice Thomas Is My Favorite

Whatever other revilement and indignities the Left-Wing so called "Progressive Socialists" might hurl at Supreme Court Justice Thomas such as …  He is unsophisticated, He is Black, He is male, He is a Conservative Constitutionalist, or whatever expletive might find its way past their lips, He is still the bravest, most honest, light among them. Which other of the nine had the dimension of integrity to stand up in front of the world grinding machine and spit out before them the second most hated truth on earth? The man has the courage of Christ dwelling in him and would never have taken such a hated stand for any lesser cause. Now you know why the devil did his dead level best to besmirch and destroy him back when he was first appointed by the elder President Bush. God must have pierced it into Bush's heart because it was about the only good thing Daddy Bush did in eight years. I repeat my previous statement that "Justice Thomas is my favorite Supreme Court Justice".  He is a quiet and humble man with the character of a Moses.

Will the Supreme Court overturn Roe v. Wade?  In a concurring opinion in a Supreme Court case announced Monday, Justice Clarence Thomas issued a lengthy call for his colleagues to overturn "demonstrably erroneous decisions" even if they have been upheld for decades -- prompting legal observers to say Thomas was laying the groundwork to overturn the seminal 1973 case Roe v. Wade, which established a constitutional right to abortion. Thomas' blunt opinion came in a case concerning the so-called "double-jeopardy" doctrine, which generally prohibits an individual from being charged twice for the same crime. But both pro-life and pro-choice advocates quickly noted the implications of his reasoning for a slew of other future cases, including a potential revisiting of Roe.
"When faced with a demonstrably erroneous precedent, my rule is simple: We should not follow it," Thomas wrote, noting that lower federal courts should also disregard poor precedents. Thomas went on to add that precedent "may remain relevant when it is not demonstrably erroneous." Kristen Clarke, the President and Executive Director of the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law, told Fox News that Thomas' comments were part of a larger attack on abortion rights. "One can't ignore the timing of Justice Thomas's concurring opinion which comes at a moment when we are seeing a coordinated and relentless attack on Roe v. Wade across the country," Clarke said. "The laws that have been adopted in several states violate the Court's settled precedent in Roe. In his concurring opinion, Justice Thomas has made clear his willingness to reject precedents that he personally deems incorrect, a position that unnecessarily politicizes the Court. "Justice Thomas's view is fundamentally at odds with the way in which the Supreme Court has generally operated," Clarke said. "It is a view that threatens to further undermine the integrity of the Court and weaken the stability of the institution."

Thomas' argument began by noting that the role of federal courts is primarily to uphold the Constitution above all else -- and if that means overturning long-held precedents set by other federal courts, Thomas wrote, so be it. "The Constitution tasks the political branches—not the Judiciary—with systematically developing the laws that govern our society," Thomas wrote. "The Court’s role, by contrast, is to exercise the 'Judicial Power,' faithfully interpreting the Constitution and the laws enacted by those branches." But unlike English common law, Thomas asserted, "we operate in a system of written law in which courts need not—and generally cannot—articulate the law in the first instance." He cited, for example, arguments to that effect by Justice Stephen Breyer in previous cases. "As I see it, we would eliminate a significant amount of uncertainty and provide the very stability sought if we replaced our malleable balancing test with a clear, principled rule grounded in the meaning of the text," Thomas countered. "The true irony of our modern stare decisis doctrine lies in the fact that proponents of stare decisis tend to invoke it most fervently when the precedent at issue is least defensible." Thomas concluded: "In my view, if the Court encounters a decision that is demonstrably erroneous—i.e., one that is not a permissible interpretation of the text—the Court should correct the error, regardless of whether other factors support overruling the precedent. ... A demonstrably incorrect judicial decision ... is tantamount to making law, and adhering to it both disregards the supremacy of the Constitution and perpetuates a usurpation of the legislative power."

Throughout the day, analysts noted that Thomas' reasoning could potentially affect more than the abortion debate. Wrote Slate legal analyst Mark Joseph Stern: "[Thomas'] repudiation of stare decisis isn’t really about Gamble. It’s aimed at a clear set of precedents—those enshrining a constitutional right to abortion access and same-sex marriage." Case Western Reserve University law professor Jonathan Entin, in an interview with Reuters, remarked, “Everyone is concerned about this because they’re thinking about Roe v. Wade.” Thomas, in the Gamble case, ended up joining the court's 7-2 majority in ruling that individuals can be prosecuted by both the state and the federal government for the same crime, without violating the constitution's double jeopardy rules.  The idea, backed by generations of precedent, is that the states and federal government are separate sovereign entities, and that a crime against one is distinct from a crime against the other. That precedent, Thomas ruled, was not demonstrably erroneous, and therefore the majority was justified in following it.

"A free society does not allow its government to try the same individual for the same crime until it's happy with the result," Gorsuch wrote. In the majority opinion, Justice Samuel Alito was more deferential to precedent, saying "special justification" is needed to overturn precedent, even where the Constitution would serve as a lodestar. Nevertheless, Alito noted that "the strength of the case for adhering to [previous] decisions grows in proportion to their ‘antiquity,'" meaning that newer precedents are less secure than older ones. Monday's opinion was Thomas' second in as many months to hearten pro-life advocates. "Given the potential for abortion to become a tool of eugenic manipulation," Thomas wrote, "the court will soon need to confront the constitutionality of laws like Indiana's," Thomas wrote. "From the beginning, birth control and abortion were promoted as means of effectuating eugenics."

3:00 AM Awakening Thoughts Of Things Above

Magnificence Of Knowing All things Awaits Us

Late night thoughts...
Where does an outer space black hole lead to... which literally sucks entire planets into its massive vortex of reality? Is it an entire, other, eternal, heavenly, unimaginable dimension?  And what is beyond the thousands of stars, we can see, on all sides of the earth ... each larger than our sun, if seen at all?  If a "space, time or matter" wall, what is beyond that?  If more space, how deep is that space?  And what is beyond that deeper space? And what glorious, deified reality was the Creator God living in before He created the universe ... which is mandated to be inferior to Himself, its Supernal Creator?  Even the master of intellect, Albert Einstein who knew the universe better than any other human, believed in a Creator God. An atheist would never reference "God" as Creator, as he did, many times. I quote one of those times: "As I have said so many times, 'God doesn't play dice with the world'. Whether you can observe a thing or not depends on the theory which you use." 

Obviously Einstein's theories were based firmly on the reality of God as Creator. He was a Jew and maybe not a Christian, but most Jews believe in Jehovah God as Creator. The obvious fact of an intelligent Creator is what has caused kings, savages, and most humans, since Eden,  to seek that Creator God in a thousand different religions.

There has to be a scientifically, divine harmony of answers far beyond our human, perceptive powers.  But since God has not revealed most of them to us, they must be reserved for our future, glorified existence in His Universal, Graduate school of Theology.  There is no way to overestimate the immensely sublime splendor of our eternal future ... in His presence.

Vain Pride Voids the First Step Toward God... Humility

Humility Precedes All Spiritual Growth

"If my people...will humble themselves ... pray seek turn then …." 2 Chron.7:14. 

The word, "pride" is commonly used in at least two ways. All but one of them are used erroneous to biblical usage. Every use in the Bible, of pride or proud, has a negative connotation of conceit or inordinate self esteem …  narcissism. But we often use the word in telling a child or other persons that we are proud of them or proud of America etc. Webster references that use differently than when used of one's self. When we say someone is a "proud American", we mean they are patriotic and love their country. When we say to a child that we are proud of them we mean we are impressed or pleased with them. I am not suggesting that we should not use the word in that way, but it is not used that way in the Bible. I only
mention it to help Christians understand the word's true Scriptural meaning, and to realize that meaning has changed, over time, to mean self respect or patriotism or admiration or satisfaction of a job well done. So I choose to distinguish between the two different meanings by giving the scriptural, negative meaning of pride, a clarifying word, "vain", to predicate the biblical meaning as "Vain Pride". 

Biblical pride, Vain Pride, Is the diametric, polar opposite, of humility. And humility is an absolute essential to spirituality.

Where there is no humility, there is no spirituality... period.

"And many brought gifts unto the Lord to Jerusalem, and presents to Hezekiah king of Judah: so that he was magnified in the sight of all nations .... In those days Hezekiah was sick to the death, and prayed unto the Lord.... But Hezekiah rendered not again according to the benefit done unto him; for his heart was lifted up: therefore there was wrath upon him, and upon Judah and Jerusalem. Notwithstanding Hezekiah humbled himself for the pride of his heart, both he and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, so that the wrath of the Lord came not upon them in the days of Hezekiah. And Hezekiah had exceeding much riches and honour: and he made himself treasuries for silver, and for gold, and for precious stones, and for spices, and for shields, and for all manner of pleasant jewels; Storehouses also for the increase of corn, and wine, and oil; and stalls for all manner of beasts … Moreover he provided him cities, and possessions of flocks and herds in abundance: for God had given him substance very much." 2 Chron.32:23-29.

It is my observation that when a person allows themselves to become overmuch exalted, as an actor, athlete, rich man, politician, or preacher, God will jerk that spurious rug fright out from under them.
So here is a king, made proud, by his fame, wealth and power, given him by other men. But then God neutralized all that by removing his health which  brought him down to where his wealth and power and fame meant nothing anymore.  Sickness, pain and fear will, in time, break a person's vain pride, or kill them. Only when king Hezekiah gave up his pride, and himself to God, in humility and repentance, did God restore his health and make him more rich, more powerful and still famous to this day because of his healing humility and prosperity. 

In
summery, of this kings rise in wealth and fame, his physical fall, battle with pride, humble repentance, spiritual, and then physical, healing, and then rise in power and redoubled wealth ....
1. King Hezekiah was rife with vain pride in his power, position, wealth and fame.
2. God's Holy Spirit convicted him of his self-willed, presumptuous superiority and pride.
3. His pride infected all the Capital City, Jerusalem, and his political supporters.
4. He finally yielded his self-will to God's will & humbled himself before the Lord.
5.His repentant humility forestalled the wrath of God upon his entire kingdom.
6. As with Job, God gave Hezekiah restored health and twice as much wealth and power as he had lost. A rich man approved and blessed of God. Is that possible? Of course. It happened then and it happens today. It is not money but the "love of money" which breeds pride and is "the root of all evil". 1 Tim.6:10
That is why God hates vain pride. 

Vain Pride is like sulfuric acid in a tin bucket; it corrupts, depraves and perverts the container and burns up everything it touches. It destroys what God loves and created in His own image and likeness.... Us.
Vain Pride persecutes the weak .... Psalms 10:2.
Vain Pride will not, cannot, sincerely seek after God.... Psalms 10:4
Vain Pride is a chain of slavery to the soul ... Psm.73:6
God hates the arrogance of Vain Pride.... Prov.8:13

Jesus listed pride with thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye,  and the pride of life. Mark 7:22
There are three categories of sin ... lust of the flesh, lust of the eyes, and the pride of life. 1 John 2:16. One is as bad as the other... All destroy!

There is just one remedy for vain pride …. as I alluded to at the top of the page....

Its Not As If We Have A Righteous Choice. There Is, However, A Best And Right Choice For President

If you can't vote for Trump, vote for the good he has done


In 2020 we do not have a "Godly choice", between Jesus and the devil, for president, but we do have a "right, best" choice.  The only choice we will have is between a King Cyrus type (Trump) and a King Nebuchadnezzar (Any Democrat).  King Cyrus was not, in any way, a righteous man ... but God used him to set free God's people, the Jews, from the slavery Nebuchadnezzar had forced upon them. King Darius, also a pagan, later helped God's people rebuild in Jerusalem. Nebuchadnezzar was also an unrighteous, pagan king... but with a perverted blend of evils which could only be used to punish the Jews in slavery prior to the two kings who helped them out.

On the political right we have Trump, our Cyrus, with all his warts, flaws, bluster and New York "values", but who loves America, our Christian heritage, the Constitution, what works, and supports the right to life of aborted babies. On the political left, we have a whole stampede of rogue, socialist insurrectionists of every left-wing stripe and type... Who are fanatical in their multitudinous errors of horror and twice as bad as Hillary, Obama, or even Bernie Sanders, who is a closet Communist. It is certain that our country has never had such a host of scary anti-heritage, anti-Christian extremists running against each other, in the same political party. This unholy clan despise Trump, the one Constitutional candidate, who is not their equal but vastly superior and more qualified, even with all his obvious negatives.  But we must remember that we are not voting on a Pastor, Deacon, Missionary or Boy Scout Leader but a secular, political, warrior, President. He is the Chief Executive Officer of our Government and the Commander In Chief of our Military. Can you visualize any of the Democrat candidates running our military?Frankly, I think Vice President Pence is the better man, but I don't know if he, or Ted Cruz, or anyone else could have flushed out the D.C. swamp, and made 289 major, good changes in our nation, in just his first two years, as has Trump.  When I add up Trump's liabilities along side his accomplishments, in just over two years, his assets exceed his liabilities by a ship-load. But when I compare him with his Democrat opponents, he makes them all look like Joseph Stalin or Fidel Castro.
