As We Approach The Finish Line ... What .... Now?

Common Sense Commentary: He hung as the voluntary, battered recipient of unjust judgement; upon whom no blow drew an outcry of complaint or waver from His chosen destiny. He was unmoved, undeterred and unequaled in His determination and complete commitment to his holy purpose. He was victor over sin, Satan, fear, hate, loneliness, disease, death and discouragement. He was Christ, the extension of God from heaven's glory to worldly, human need. He was Jesus, the sacrificed Savior, dead, buried, then resurrected by the divine power within Him. He was God in flesh, hanging from cruel iron spikes.... in my place, and yours. Now .... what am I, what are you willing to do for Him to show appreciation? Love Him? Accept Him? Live for Him? Tell the world of Him?  Die for Him? ....  Or Nothing much?

My time of ministry and influence for Christ is waning, I have not time to waste. I must speak simply and truly that every ear and heart, which hears,  may hear clearly .... the message of God's word and His plan through Christ. There is no more time for Christian hedging, evading or wasting the "now" opportunity. We Christians must occupy the void left by Satan's deviltry and fill it with God's word, prayer and Jesus talk ... till He comes. We must attack  "the gates of hell" head on ... come what may... criticism, persecution, prosecution or death. It matters not what others think of us, though they be friend or kin, judge or jury. It is the truth that shall make us, and them, free.... not a presidential or Judge's decree. Jesus promised, "And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me." Jn.12:32.

"Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded." James 4:8.  RB

An Unpleasant Subject: The Truth Is, I Don't Love Everybody

Common Sense Commentary: Jesus, the Apostles and the Old Testament Prophets preached on many an unpleasant subject. Who am I to avoid such unpopular subjects? On numerous occasions, when discussing such subjects as serial killers, child abusers and dictators who slaughter millions or innocents, I have heard Christians say, "But we have to love them." As a Christian, I feel compelled to love, in an abstract sort of way, their eternity bound souls, once created "in the image of God". But to love what they, in their own free will flesh, have made of themselves, is another question. The whole truth is, I do not "love" them for who they are, not that my love counts for much.  I do feel a strong spiritual kind of compunction to witness Christ to all people, but no obligation to "love" the Hitlers, Stalins, Charles Mansons and other such devilish monsters in the world. Neither do I hate them since I know God so loved the world that he gave (Jesus) to die for all of our souls.... if we accept his salvation.  I have tried, through the years, to love all people and have sought to lead all who were receptive to know our Lord ... but have not succeeded in "loving" every single one of them. I do not hold a grudge or wish harm upon those who reject Christ. But I must be honest, I have known a few people I did not "love" or even like. I can love my enemies easy enough, but it is not my enemies I am talking about but the enemies of God and His word. I do not believe God "loves" Lucifer or the fallen angels (demons), or people already in hell either. They had their chance to love and submit to their Creator, but willfully rebelled and are now eternally hopeless. They, and all of hell itself, will be cast into the Lake of fire in Rev.20:10-15 ... "And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever..... And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire." I cannot conceive of God continuing to love, for eternity, those who are being "cast into the lake of fire". Neither can I believe God will continue to love them for ever and ever, who have rejected Christ, and are eternally separated from Him, as Jesus professed in Matt.7:20-23 "Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them. Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity."  Jesus later repeated that condemnation ... "Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels.
"Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire" does not sound like love to me. The phrase, I never knew you", places those people in some sort of  anonymous, unknown status. God knows everything, but says of these people, "I never knew you". Whatever the complete truth is, about those whose "conscience is seared over as with a hot iron", (1Tim.4:2), it is certain that was not God's primary purpose for them and is not His first choice or fault that they are unbelievers and rejectors of Christ.  That is a matter of their own free will and choice.  All versions of the Bible agree on that point. Jn.5:40 "And ye will not come to me, that ye might have life." KJV.- "...and you are unwilling to come to Me so that you may have life."NASV. - "And still you have no desire to come to me so that you may have life." Basic English Bible. And so on.

My admonition is that you, of your own volition, free will and choice, "Come to Him" and get to know Him. He will not turn you away. "...him that cometh to me I will in no wise castout." Jn.6:37.

God did not and will not choose hell for you; you will choose it by default. To not accept Christ is to accept it's consequences. Many preachers choose not to Preach on hell, and warn unbelievers of it. That also has it's consequences for that preacher ... and for those who hear him. RB

Is Allah Just Another Name For The Great "I AM", Jehovah ?

Common Sense Commentary: Throughout history there have been people who worshiped ideas, boulders, mountains, crocodiles, and certain men, and called them "God". Did that make those things Gods or equal to the true God? Is a person, animal or thing a god simply because they are thought to be by misguided people? Gods they are not. False gods is what they are. I reprint the following article by Albert Mohler, from the Billy Graham magazine, Decision, because it is a subject which needs to be dealt with. Franklin Graham, son of Billy, has taken a courageous direction with this magazine and in his preaching, putting his finger clearly on religious error and sin in general .... as Jesus and the Apostles did. As politically incorrect as it is, here is the truth. RB

Do Christians And Muslims Worship The Same God ?

Does God care what we call Him? Do Muslims and Christians worship the same god? These are questions many Christians are asking these days, and for good reason.
For some time now, feminist theologians and a host of others have suggested that Christians should adopt new names for God. One denomination went so far as to affirm names like “Giver, Gift and Giving” in place of the “Father, Son and Holy Spirit” to be used in worship. Feminist theologians have demanded that masculine pronouns and names for God be replaced with female or gender-neutral terms. But to change the name of God is to redefine the God we reference. Changing the name of God is no small matter.
As a matter of fact, God takes His name very seriously, and the Ten Commandments include the command that we must not take the name of the Lord in vain. We are to use the names God has given for Himself, and we are to recognize that God takes His name seriously because He desires to be rightly known by His human creatures. We cannot truly know Him if we do not even know His name.
Moses understood this. When he encountered the call of God that came from the burning bush, Moses asked God, “If I come to the people of Israel and say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you,’ and they ask me, ‘What is his name?’ what shall I say to them?” (Exodus 3:13). God answered Moses, “I Am who I Am” (Exodus 3:14). God told Moses, “Say this to the people of Israel, ‘The Lord, the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you.’ This is my name forever, and thus I am to be remembered throughout all generations” (Exodus 3:15).
As these verses make clear, we are not to tamper with God’s name. We are to use the names whereby God has named Himself, and we are to recognize that any confusion about the name of God will lead to confusion about the nature of God, if not to idolatry.
Christians must keep this central principle from the Bible constantly in mind as we consider some of the most urgent questions we face in the world today. We must certainly have this principle in mind when we think about Islam.
Several years ago, a bishop in the Netherlands attracted controversy when he argued that Christians should call God “Allah” in order to lower theological tensions. He also argued that calling God “Allah” would be commonplace in Christian churches within a century and that this would lead to a synthesis of Islam and Christianity.
More recently, an Islamic court in Malaysia ruled that only Muslims can use the name “Allah” in print publications. “The usage of the word will cause confusion in the community,” the chief judge ruled. Oddly enough, Christians may well agree with this Islamic judge. To call God “Allah” is to invite confusion.
In the Bible, God reveals Himself to us in many names. These names are His personal property. We did not invent these names for God. To the contrary, God revealed these names as His own.
We have no right to modify or to revise these names—much less to reject them. Jesus Christ made this abundantly clear. In the simplest way imaginable, Jesus teaches us to know God as Father, and to use this name in prayer. The Lord’s Prayer begins with the words, “Our Father, who is in heaven.” By the grace that God has shown us in Christ, we can truly know Him as Father.
Muslims do not speak of God as their heavenly Father. In the Islamic faith, Allah is not only a different name for god; the deity it designates is far more impersonal than the God of the Bible. Father—the very name that Jesus gave us as the designated name for use in prayer—is a name that simply does not fit Allah as depicted in the Quran.
Furthermore, Muslims claim that Allah has no son. This represents a head-on collision between the God of the Bible and Allah. For, as the Bible makes clear, the one and only true God is most perfectly revealed as the Father of the Son, Jesus Christ. In the Gospel of John, Jesus repeatedly teaches that no one has truly known the Father, except by the Son. In one of the most clarifying verses in the New Testament, Jesus declared Himself to be “the way, and the truth, and the life,” adding, “No one comes to the Father except through me” (John 14:6).
Because Muslims deny that God has a son, they explicitly reject any Trinitarian language. From the very starting point, Islam denies what Christianity takes as its central truth claim: the fact that Jesus Christ is the only begotten of the Father. If Allah has no son, then Allah is not the God who reveals Himself through the Son. How then can calling God “Allah” not lead to anything but confusion—and worse?
Islam teaches that the doctrine of the Trinity is blasphemous. But the Christian faith is essentially and irreducibly Trinitarian. The Bible reveals that the Father is God, that the Son is God, and that the Holy Spirit is God. Jesus is not merely a prophet, as acknowledged by Muslims, He is God in human flesh. This is precisely what Islam rejects.
The Trinitarian language is the language of the Bible, and it is essential to Christianity. Indeed, the Christian faith points to Christ and announces that we can only know the Father through the Son. Confusing the God of the Bible with Allah of the Quran is not only a mistake, it is a dangerous distortion of the Gospel of Christ.
The Trinitarian nature of God is embedded within the Great Commission. Jesus tells His disciples to go into the world and make disciples of all nations and to baptize them “in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit” (Matthew 28:19). Christians are those who bear the names of God even in our baptism, and those names are Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
This has become a matter of significant controversy in recent years as some Christians, including some serving with mission agencies, have argued that Christians can use the name “Allah” in talking about God. In some languages, especially those based on an Arabic source, there is no generic word for god. In such a situation, it might be necessary to begin a conversation by using this word, but the Christian cannot continue to call God “Allah.” It is hard to imagine that anyone can hear the name “Allah” without thinking of him as claimed in the Quran (see following article). Indeed, Muslims who speak languages other than Arabic use “Allah” as the name of god. But as soon as the Christian begins to explain that the true living God is the Father of Jesus Christ the Son, the Christian is making clear that the true living God is not Allah, but our Heavenly Father.
Continuing to use the name “Allah” to refer to the God of the Bible in such situations invites deep confusion. Some now argue that Muslims who come to faith in Christ can even remain within the mosque and continue to worship God as Allah. It is hard to see how that is anything other than a theological disaster.
We can now see that the name of God is no small matter. The deity we name is the God we believe in. Christians believe in only one God, and He is the Father who sent the Son to save us from our sins. Allah has no son, and, thus, Christians cannot know God as Allah. In this light, Muslims and Christians do not only use different names for God; in reality, these different names refer to different gods.
God takes His name with great seriousness, and so must we. Thankfully, we are not left in the dark, groping for adequate language. God has revealed His names to us, so that we can rightly know Him. We are not called to be clever or creative in referring to God, only faithful and accurate.
We are living in challenging days. One of the most pressing challenges of our times is the task of speaking rightly about God. This is particularly challenging when Christians encounter Muslims, but it is also a challenge when Christians encounter secular people in Western cultures. But this really isn’t a new challenge. It was the same challenge faced by the children of Israel as they encountered the Canaanites, and the same challenge faced by the Apostle Paul at Mars Hill.
Our challenge is to speak truthfully about God, and the only way we can do that is to use the names God gave Himself. The God of the Bible is not Allah, and Allah is not the God of the Bible. Any confusion about that undermines the very Gospel we preach.

False Accusation ... Is The Ax In Lucifer's Hands ....

... as he approaches God's Tree Of Life and those who abide there.

Satan's very name, by definition, means, "Accuser".

I. "God is a selfish, jealous liar"

Lucifer's first utterance, in the Garden of Eden, to human beings, was, to paraphrase, "God is a selfish liar jealous of his knowledge and power, and doesn't want to share it with you or let you enjoy the finer things in life."  But he couched his accusation of God in more deceptive, innocuous and believable words. His conversation with Eve went like this ...."...Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?  (God actually said, "Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it:" Lucifer twisted God's words.) And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden: But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die. And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil." Gen. 3:1-5. When Lucifer could no longer attack God directly, he attacked those created in God's image and likeness ... Human beings.

II. "Job's faith is based strictly on what he can get out of God."

Lucifer came before God and accused God's faithful servant Job of being a self-centered, false professing worshiper of God who would turn on God in hatred and curse God if God removed His protection and let Job lose all his stuff, family, friends and health. Here is their conversation ...
"And the LORD said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil? and still he holdeth fast his integrity, although thou movedst me against him, to destroy him without cause. And Satan answered the LORD, and said, Skin for skin, yea, all that a man hath will he give for his life. But put forth thine hand now, and touch his bone and his flesh, and he will curse thee to thy face." Job 2:1-5. So the Lord allowed Satan to take everything Job had away from him and he was left broken, penniless, sick, dying and alone ... His best friends took up the accusations and accused Job of being a hypocrite and bringing the suffering upon himself. But Job would not turn against God ... and said ..."Oh that my words were now written! oh that they were printed in a book! That they were graven with an iron pen and lead in the rock for ever! For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth: And though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God: Whom I shall see for myself, and mine eyes shall behold, and not another; though my reins be consumed within me." Job. 19:23-27. The accuser was wrong again. God restored Job to health and gave him twice as many blessings as he had before.

Lucifer sees everything through the defective lens of his own lying, perverted delusions.

III. "This Jesus is a demon possessed glutton and drunkard."

Satan passed his wicked accusatory methods on to those who rejected Jesus as Messiah and Savior. John the Baptist came neither drinking wine nor eating a diet acceptable to these hypocrites, and they accused him of being demon possessed because he didn't (Lk.7:33).   Then, Jesus came both eating and drinking the diet they approved of and they accused him also of being crazy, demon possessed and added accusations that he was a glutton and drunkard because He ate and drank anything at all, and associated with sinners while he did it. The ridiculous contradiction of their accusations was not noticed by themselves or their sympathizers.
"...Behold a gluttonous man, and a winebibber, a friend of publicans and sinners!" Luke 7:34
"And many of them said, He hath a devil, and is mad; why hear ye him?" Jn.10:20.
The illogical, unfounded, unprovable and even impossible nature of false accusations also escapes the false accusers and their sympathizers of today.  Without evidence or credibility some people will still believe a notorious liar. They believe what they want to believe.

IV. So what does the Accuser (Satan) accuse you of ?

In His Sermon on the mount, in the beatitudes, Jesus tells us how to react to false accusations. Our natural response to false accusations is to get angry, deny, demand an apology, threaten a law-suit, repeat stories we have heard about the accuser, fight back .... but, that is not what Jesus said to do.
Jesus said, it is a blessing and we should Rejoice and be exceedingly happy.  What! How can that be?
"Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you." Matt.5:11-12. Do not miss the fact that the accusations they make must be false and they attack you with accusations because of your Christian testimony not because you are obnoxious, vain, boastful or wicked, which deserve criticism.

Concerning unjust accusations, and other persecutions, Apostle Peter builds upon Jesus' words above.
"Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto youBut rejoice, inasmuch as ye akers of Christ's sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy." 1 Pet.4:12-13.

V. Why do some people use false accusations ?

Their reasons are the same as why the same people lie about other things ... to boost their own ego, or out of fear, greed, hatred, envy, jealousy and many other fleshly diviations which motivate lying. One of those less obvious, but deadly reasons is this...... As a precursory action of pre-defence against an anticipated, or imagined, enemy's exposure of one of the accuser's secret sins, in hopes of discrediting that enemy ... before the fact.   You might consider this possibility when someone chooses to inform you, of "the talk going around" or "what people are saying" or "I have it on good authority" or "it's common knowledge" or "I can't tell you who told me" or "I think you should know" or any one of a hundred other "confidential" accusations against a person you both know , but you find it hard to believe.  It just may be the whisperer's own sin that motivates them rather then the accused.

If you are a committed Christian ... expect false accusations as par for the course .... part of the job description. Don't whine out denials or argue the point, you cannot gain credibility or win exoneration by arguing with someone who has nothing else to do and nothing to lose. Joining debate with a fool is to lower yourself to the realm of fools. "Answer not a fool according to his folly, lest thou also be like unto him." Prov.26:4. RB

My First Published Sermon Was A Christmas Message In 1960

Common Sense Commentary: Fifty three years ago, this week, my first published sermon was in the Arlington, Texas Journal Newspaper as the "Sermon Of The Week". It was nearly Christmas, and I was pastoring the first of only two churches I ever served as pastor. The church was Westside Missionary Baptist Church. The editor of the Arlington Journal had called and asked if I would write a Christmas sermon for the "Religion Page" of his newspaper. That was back when America was a Christian Nation and newspapers had a full page of churches and Christian content. I accepted, of course,  and wrote the message, entitled "Jesus, God's Free Gift".  I ran across that old, now brown, newspaper clipping the other day and will pass on to you this 53 year old sermon which is the timeless message of God's wonderful gift to the human race ... Jesus Christ my Lord. RB

Jesus, God's Free Gift by Pastor Rayburn Blair

The words FREE and GIFT are noticed by almost every eye. Because of this fact, advertisers have used these two words together, probably, millions of times even though they actually mean about the same thing. Anything free is a gift, and a gift is always free to the recipient. You wouldn't say, "I will give you a gift if you will give me $10.00. That would be a sale and not a gift. A gift is something which is freely given by one person to another simply because they love or care for them. A true gift always comes from a heart of love or appreciation, and is without cost to the receiver of the gift.  The price is paid by the giver.

Did you know that the greatest, most valuable possession in the universe is being offered to you, right now, but will be yours only if you accept it? This priceless gift is an absolute necessity to every soul who seeks peace, happiness and eternal life.  The Holy Bible centers upon, and directs our thoughts to this greatest of all gifts, in Romans 5:18, "Therefore as by the offense of one (Adam) judgement came upon all men to condemnation, even so by the righteousness of one (Jesus) the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life."

God has promised you in Romans 6:23 that, "The wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord". He repeats this wonderful truth in Ephesians 2:8-9 where we read, "For by grace are ye saved through faith and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God; Not of works, lest any man should boast." How many times have you and I been reminded of this gift from John 3:16, "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life."

Do you believe what God says in the Scriptures, or do you think you have to work for that gift, pay for it, or deserve it before He will give salvation to you? If you believe God meant what He said, and if you want to receive His promised gift for your very own, then bow your head, right now, and call upon Him in prayer, as He tells us to do in Romans 10:13, "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." Put your faith in Jesus Christ as your own Savior right now, this minute, and give "Thanks .... unto God for His unspeakable gift." 1 Cor.9:15.  Pastor Rayburn Blair

Shacking Up, Homo Matrimony, & Now Polygamy OK...Incest Next Then Beastiality

Common Sense Commentary: Once a long standing, traditional, Biblical, high standard has been breached, and finally reversed, and an opposite trend established, descending downward, it is all but impossible to stop.... until it hits bottom. Our country began with persecuted Christians sailing the Atlantic, seeking to live and serve their Lord in holy freedom from such evil atmospheres. They abandoned their native lands, their homes, careers  and even families, seeking freedom to worship and live their lives as they chose, without the wicked intrusion of a state sponsored religion and the immoral environment it conceived and enforced upon them. From that spiritual foundation, of a few Christian Pilgrims, America grew upward and outward until it filled the land from sea to shinning sea. Every business closed of the Lord's Day for a hundred years; Our laws were strong and enforced; Our churches were moral and spiritual anchors for the secular state. Even the non-religious believed in God, and wanted their children to "act like Christians", and that abortion, drunkenness, cursing in public, homosexuality, and illicit sex of all kinds were sin.  There were few divorces and drug addiction was non-existent.  America became the most successful, bountiful and envied nation on earth. We reached the pinnacle of morality, power and provision, after WW II, in the 1950's. It's been down hill from there.

'Sister Wives' family wins ruling in bigamy suit

    From USA Today

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A federal judge ruled Friday that key parts of Utah's polygamy laws are unconstitutional, handing a legal victory to a polygamist family that stars in the TV reality show "Sister Wives."
U.S. District Court Judge Clark Waddoups said in the ruling that the phrase in Utah law that forbids cohabitation with another person was a violation of the First Amendment.
Washington D.C.-based attorney Jonathan Turley has said that Kody Brown and his four wives drew the attention of Utah authorities because of their TLC hit series. The Brown family filed their lawsuit in July 2011, and fled Utah for Las Vegas last year under the threat of prosecution.
Turley argued the case before Waddoups in January.
Utah's bigamy law is stricter than the laws in 49 other states — most of the other states prohibit people from having multiple marriage licenses. Utah makes it illegal to even purport to be married to multiple partners or live together.
The Salt Lake Tribune (http://bit.ly/1kHUIRd ) reports Waddoups took a narrow interpretation of the words "marry" and "purports to marry" in his ruling. That means that bigamy remains illegal in Utah only in the literal sense, such as when someone fraudulently acquires more than one marriage license.
"The decision affects a far greater range of such relationships than the form of polygamy practiced by the Browns," Turley said in a statement Friday. "It is a victory not for polygamy but privacy in America."
Utah officials had sought to have the suit thrown out. They first argued that the Browns couldn't challenge the bigamy law because they hadn't been charged. State attorneys later argued for dismissal because a prosecutor had pledged not to prosecute them for bigamy.
But Waddoups wrote in a 2012 ruling that the promise from the Utah County Attorney's Office appeared to be a ploy to avoid the suit.
Kody Brown said in a statement Friday that the family was "humbled and grateful" for the ruling.
"While we know that many people do not approve of plural families, it is our family and based on our beliefs," he said. "Just as we respect the personal and religious choices of other families, we hope that in time all of our neighbors and fellow citizens will come to respect our own choices."

Change Is Inevitable But Change For The Better Has Flickered Out In The U.S.

Common Sense Commentary: "Change" does not move sideways; it moves up for the better or down for the worse. While Science, Technology and Medical change have zoomed skyward like a NASA HI-TECH satellite, in the last fifty years, Logic, Reason, Moral and Spiritual change have all plunged like a burned out hunk of space junk. Like a High School Football Championship on a Friday night, It seems the bleachers on the left are exploding with waving towels, hoots and howls and screams of approval with an uproarious, blasting  band ....while the bleachers on the right, with a smattering crowd of quiet Christians, and a few morality fans, are standing awe-struck, not of their Great God, but of the power of the Lucifer  Hyenas  on the field .... who are winning the morality/immorality game, while unknowingly losing the Eternal Life Championship. Look up Christians; this is not the real playoffs. No matter how poorly we are doing on the field, the final score is 100 to 0 in our favor. RB

     HIGH SCHOOL -- 1957 vs. 2013 Scenario 1:

Jack goes duck hunting before school and then pulls into the school
parking lot with his shotgun in his truck's gun rack.
1957 - Vice Principal comes over, looks at Jack's shotgun, goes to his
car and gets his shotgun to show Jack.
2013- School goes into lock down, FBI called, Jack hauled off to jail and
never sees his truck or gun again. Counselors called in for traumatized
    students and teachers.
    Scenario 2:

Johnny and Mark get into a fist fight after school.
1957 - Crowd gathers. Mark wins. Johnny and Mark shake hands and end up
    buddies.
2013 - Police called and SWAT team arrives -- they arrest both Johnny and
Mark. They are both charged with assault and both expelled even though
    Johnny started it.
    Scenario 3:

Jeffrey will not be still in class, he disrupts other students.
1957 - Jeffrey sent to the Principal's office and given a good paddling
by the Principal. He then returns to class, sits still and does not disrupt
    class again.
2013 - Jeffrey is given huge doses of Ritalin. He becomes a zombie. He
is then tested for ADD. The family gets extra money (SSI) from the
government because Jeffrey has a disability.

    Scenario 4:

Billy breaks a window in his neighbor's car and his Dad gives him a
    whipping with his belt.
1957 - Billy is more careful next time, grows up normal, goes to college
    and becomes a successful businessman.
2013 - Billy's dad is arrested for child abuse, Billy is removed to
foster care and joins a gang. The state psychologist is told by Billy's sister
that she remembers being abused herself and their dad goes to prison.
Billy's mom has an affair with the psychologist.
    Scenario 5:

Mark gets a headache and takes some aspirin to school.
1957 - Mark shares an aspirin with the Principal in the Principal's office.
2013 - The police are called and Mark is expelled from school for drug
violations. His car is then searched for drugs and weapons.
    Scenario 6:

    Pedro fails high school English.
1957 - Pedro goes to summer school, passes English and goes to college.
    2013
    - Pedro's cause is taken up by state. Newspaper articles appear
nationally explaining that teaching English as a requirement for graduation is
racist. ACLU files class action lawsuit against the state school system
and Pedro's English teacher. English is then banned from core curriculum.
Pedro is given his diploma anyway but ends up mowing lawns for a living
    because he cannot speak English.
    Scenario 7:

Johnny takes apart leftover firecrackers from the Fourth of July, puts
them in a model airplane paint bottle and blows up a red ant bed.
    1957 - Ants die.
2013 - ATF, Homeland Security and the FBI are all called. Johnny is
charged with domestic terrorism. The FBI investigates his parents - and all
siblings are removed from their home and all computers are confiscated.
Johnny's dad is placed on a terror watch list and is never allowed to fly again.
    Scenario 8:

Johnny falls while running during recess and scrapes his knee. He is found
crying by his teacher, Mary. Mary hugs him to comfort him.
1957 – In a short time, Johnny feels better and goes on playing.
2013 - Mary is accused of being a sexual predator and loses her job. She
faces 3 years in State Prison. Johnny undergoes 5 years of therapy.

Neither Ability Nor Availability Are The Main Thing

Common Sense Commentary: I once heard a great preacher say that "God is not interested in ability but availability".  I agree that it is true that availability is more important than ability. However, neither ability nor availability are elements of character. Ability is a noteworthy and very beneficial talent in a person. It can make a living for you .... IF it is cultivated, educated and coupled with character. Many a person with huge ability, but none of the character traits to drive and guide their capability, accomplish little or nothing worthwhile in life. Even if an able and talented person is available, if the dynamics of character are absent, their ability and availability are not useful. There are 394 words in the dictionary which end in "ability". There are that many kinds of ability or disability. They are not all useful and many can be destructive if employed. All the religions, businesses and organizations in the world are seeking people with capability, affability, agreeability, desirability, electability, profitability or vulnerability; but not God. "He delighteth not in the strength of the horse: he taketh not pleasure in the legs of a man. The LORD taketh pleasure in them that fear (reverence) him, in those that hope in his mercy."  Psm. 147:10-11.

Edwin Cole writes:  "Availability is not the greatest need in business or ministry; teachability is.  A person may be available, but if he cannot be taught, or is not willing to learn, it's no wonder he is available."  I like that, and it is true that teachability is more important than ability or availability."

Actually, though, there are many other elements of character which are at least as important as teachability.  Some of them are adaptability, durability, accountability, dependability and reliability. God blesses each person with certain unique abilities, talents and gifts with which to serve Him and that includes our employment, our careers, our home-life, as well as through our church and personal witness. God is not looking for ability so much, in those who serve Him, as He is looking for faithfulness and good character. Dr. Os Hillman said it this way, "One thing God does not need is our skills and abilities. However, He does give us the privilege to exercise our gifts and abilities for His service. That service may be as a computer technician, a secretary, an ironworker, or even a lawyer. God calls each of us to our vocations to work unto Him. To believe that He needs our skills to accomplish His mission on earth would be to lower our understanding of an all-encompassing and all-powerful God. The psalmist tells us that His pleasure is not in our strength and ability, but His pleasure is in the attitude of the heart."

All of the ability, talent, mental and physical power, good looks and personality in the world are of no use to God unless they are encased in a mind and heart submissive and committed to Him and His will and purpose for their use. So invest your God given abilities, talents and gifts in His service, on the job, at home and in His church. RB

Latest InThe Never Ending Obama Scandals

Common Sense Commentary: What Enormous, Evil Power keeps this president protected from impeachment, and Republicans, even the one or two nearly honest Democrats in Congress, from raising a cry of eminent disaster for the whole country, in the evil hands of this corrupt administration, is a mystery. RB

    The Chicago Way
The Solar thing just got a little more interesting... REALLY!  The Tonopah

Solar company in Harry Reid's Nevada is getting a $737 million loan from
Obama's D.O.E.  The project will produce a 110 megawatt power system
and employs 45 permanent workers. That's costing us just over $16 million
per job.  One of the investment partners in this endeavor is Pacific Corporate
Group (PCG).  The PCG executive director is Ron Pelosi who is the brother to Nancy's husband.

    This from a friend:

Michelle Obama's Princeton classmate is executive at the company that built Obamacare website.

First Lady Michelle Obama's Princeton classmate is a top executive at the company that earned the no-bid contract to build the failed Obamacare website.
Toni Townes-Whitley, Princeton class of '85, is senior vice president at CGI Federal, which earned the no-bid contract to build the $678 million Obamacare enrollment website at Healthcare.gov. CGI Federal is the U.S. arm of a Canadian company. Townes-Whitley and her Princeton classmate Michelle Obama are both members of the Association of Black Princeton Alumni.  Toni Townes '85 is a onetime policy analyst with the General Accounting Office and previously served in the Peace Corps in Gabon, West Africa. Her decision to return to work, as an African-American woman, after six
years of raising kids was applauded by a Princeton alumni publication in 1998 George Schindler, the president for U.S. and Canada of the Canadian-based CGI Group, CGI Federal's parent company, became an Obama 2012 campaign donor after his company gained the Obamacare website contract.
On the government end, construction of the disastrous Healthcare.gov website was overseen by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), a division of longtime failed website-builder Kathleen Sebelius' Department of Health and Human Services.
CGI Federal did not immediately return a request for comment.
    _______________________________________________
    Soooooo...........
Lets see if we can connect the dots here ...
    1.) No American companies considered
    2.) A Canadian company hired
3.) No Bid contract for 93 million dollars ...
4.) Top executive at Website building firm went to school with Michelle Obama. 5.) Previous experience building gun registry for Canadian government
6.) Fired by Canadian Government for overruns that cost Canada 100 millions dollars.
4.) Overruns for Obamacare enrollment website now costing U.S. $678,000,000.00 = $678 Million dollars

Does this bother anybody else besides me? And this is just one of their corrupt enterprises. The Obama's are worse than "Bernie" Madoff and far more dangerous to the country. These thieves and traitors should be in jail for the rest of their lives.

"The Ghost Of 1929 Appears" In A Main Stream Media Headline

Common Sense Commentary: And now it is "Main Stream" news. Only now, after Years of mismanagement, misinformation, and misleading by both our Government and Main Stream Media.
Now that it is too late to correct the negligence, deplorable abuse and misuse of power by top management .... at the FED, the White House, the Congress, International and Multinational  Corporation Heads, and Big Investment Banks; only now does the Main Street Media, so they can later say, "We Warned You", do they allow such a Headline and Article as this.

    From ...
(Is this Main Stream enough for you?)

    The Wall Street Journal

     Market Watch

    By Anthony MIrhaydari

    Library of Congress
Crowd of people gather outside the New York Stock Exchange following the Crash of 1929.

They say those who forget the lessons of history are doomed to repeat them.

As a student of market history, I’ve seen that maxim made true time and again. The cycle swings fear back to greed. The overcautious become the overzealous. And at the top, the story is always the same: Too much credit, too much speculation, the suspension of disbelief, and the spread of the idea that this time is different.

It doesn’t matter whether it was the expansion of railroads heading into the crash of 1893 or the excitement over the consolidation of the steel industry in 1901 or the mixing of speculation and banking heading into 1907. Or whether it involves an epic expansion of mortgage credit, IPO activity, or central-bank stimulus. What can’t continue forever ultimately won’t.

The weaknesses of the human heart and mind means the swings will always exist. Our rudimentary understanding of the forces of economics, which in turn, reflect ultimately reflect the fallacies of people making investing, purchasing, and saving decisions, means policymakers will never defeat the vagaries of the business cycle.

So no, this time isn’t different. The specifics may have changed, but the themes remain the same. Read Mark Hulbert’s take: The chart that’s scaring Wall Street.

In fact, the stock market is right now tracing out a pattern eerily similar to the lead up to the infamous 1929 market crash. The pattern, illustrated by Tom McClellan of the McClellan Market Report, and brought to his attention by well-known chart diviner Tom Demark, is shown below.

Excuse me for throwing some cold water on the fever dream Wall Street has descended into over the last few months, an apparent climax that has bullish sentiment at record highs, margin debt at record highs, bears capitulating left and right, and a market that is increasingly dependent on brokerage credit, Federal Reserve stimulus, and a fantasy that corporate profitability will never again come under pressure.

On a pure price-analogue basis, it’s time to start worrying.

Fundamentally, it’s time to start worrying too. With GDP growth petering out (Macroeconomic Advisors is projecting fourth-quarter growth of just 1.2%), Americans abandoning the labor force at a frightening pace, businesses still withholding capital spending, and personal-consumption expenditures growing at levels associated with recent recessions, we’ve past the point of diminishing marginal returns to the Fed’s cheap-money morphine.

All we’re doing now is pushing on the proverbial string. Trillions in unused bank reserves are piling up. The housing market has stalled after the “taper tantrum” earlier this year caused mortgage rates to shoot from 3.4% to 4.6% between May and August. The Treasury market is getting distorted as the Fed effectively monetizes a growing share of the national debt. Emerging-market economies are increasingly vulnerable to a currency crisis once the taper finally starts.

U.S. employers continued to add jobs at a steady pace and the unemployment rate fell in November to a five-year low.

The Fed knows it. But they’re trapped between these risks and giving the market — the one bright spot in the post-2009 recovery — serious liquidity withdrawals.

But the specifics of the run up to the 1929 crash provide true bone-chilling context for what’s happening now.

The Bernanke-led Fed’s enthusiasm for avoiding the mistakes that worsened the Great Depression—- a mistimed tightening of monetary conditions — has led him to repeat the mistakes that caused it in the first place: Namely, continuing to lower interest rates via Treasury bond purchases well into an economic expansion and bull market justified by low-to-no inflation.

LiberalSocialism As Hard To Swallow As -135.8 Below Zero...Global Warming

Common Sense Commentary: The Liberal Socialists just about had the world convinced that the  entire earth was getting hotter and this would cause the oceans to rise and coastal cities would be inundated, farm lands would shrink into dry dust and millions of humans would die as a result. Therefore we needed a carbon tax to be charged to the developed countries and given to the poor undeveloped countries since they don't cause carbon but cook over open fires and burn off forests to make farm land and use outhouses. The Liberal Socialists accused us as "carbon creators" and called it "Global Warming".... But, then, a decade ago, it stopped getting hotter and started getting cooler ... so they  dumped "Global Warming" and renamed it "Climate Change" which would make them right whatever the weather might be. Of course anyone with one eye and half sense knows that there has always been "Climate Change", and anyone who reads the Bible knows there always shall be. God's word declares it so .... "While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease." Genesis 8:22. There has always been  Warming in the two hemisphere's Summer months and Cooling in their winter months. Geological studies have also shown Global warming and Global cooling for extended periods of time, worldwide, and alternating between the two.... warming for a period of years and then cooling for a time. Then, Al Gore, who invented the Internet, comes on the scene.  God deliver us from self-appointed geniuses and idiots who swear they will "change" the world. Now we have a more recent version "changing" things. RB

    Today's Headlines:

CHICAGO (CBS) – Temperatures dipped below zero overnight, the earliest it has been that cold in Chicago in 18 years.

Antarctica sets historic record of -135.8 below zero

WASHINGTON (AP) — Feeling chilly? Here's cold comfort: You could be in East Antarctica which new data says set a record for "soul-crushing" cold. Try 135.8 degrees Fahrenheit below zero; that's 93.2 degrees below zero Celsius, which sounds only slightly toastier. Better yet, don't try it. That's so cold scientists say it hurts to breathe. A new look at NASA satellite data revealed that Earth set a new record for coldest temperature recorded. It happened in August 2010 when it hit -135.8 degrees. Then on July 31 of this year, it came close again: -135.3 degrees.

CAIRO -- Snow coated domes and minarets Friday as a record Mideast storm compounded the suffering of Syrian refugees, sent the Israeli army scrambling to dig out stranded motorists and gave Egyptians a rare glimpse of snow in their capital.
Nearly three feet of snow closed roads in and out of Jerusalem, which is set in high hills, and thousands in and around the city were left without power. Israeli soldiers and police rescued  hundreds trapped in their cars by snow and ice. In the West Bank, the branches of olive trees groaned under the weight of snow.
In Cairo, where local news reports said the last recorded snowfall was more than 100 years ago, children in outlying districts capered in white-covered streets, and adults marveled at the sight, tweeting pictures of snow-dusted parks and squares. In other parts of the city, rain and hail rocketed down.

Fixing My Neurotic Computer With Zero Savvy

Common Sense Commentary: Attempting to fix a glitch, virus or terminal illness in my computer is, for me, rather like trying to cross a glacier field of crevasses, over a mountain of Grizzly Bears, through a swamp of fanged moccasins, and then swimming a river of alligators to finally get to the far side of stupid in one old piece.... without a nervous breakdown. It requires not one iota of horse sense, common sense, good sense or sixth sense but a World Wide Web of Anti-Boxing, Pro-Gaming, Geekie Genius to even open  a window or close a site.... much less fix an invisible, non-describable  problem. I would gladly choose the crevasses, Grizzlies, moccasins and alligators to spending an entire day on the phone, listening, with weak ears, but not hearing a foreign accent transferring me 15 times to other foreign accents who explain rapidly through a dozen different actions I need to take and type and click on and go to and then, after hours of this, lose me during another transfer and I have to start over again with near blinded eyes, hunting up their phone number again. Eighty three years of study, experience and scars did not prepare me for wrestling with this monstrous, Hi-tech "beast" out of the ether of outer space or maybe out of the book of the Revelation. Come to think of it, this thing fits perfectly into the evil power grabbing hands of the Anti-Christ. And I mean exactly that. RB

New U.S. Spy Satellite Emblem A Flaunting, Ugly Octopus Sucking Secret Intel Juices Out Of Entire Earth

Common Sense Commentary: It is difficult for an old, patriotic West Texas boy like me to comprehend the twilight zone, enormous changes in the world today as compared to the first half of my 83 years. It is almost incomprehensible that more truth is printed in Russia Today News than in CBS, NBC, ABC, AP or any other of the U.S. Liberal news media. If it weren't for the Conservative Talk Show hosts and News Letters pouring the waters of truth on the fires of those Liberal Socialists, we Americans wouldn't have a snow-balls chance in Precidio of knowing the truth. Tell me which U.S. News Service published the information in this Russia Today News story. How shriekingly flauntingly brazen our government has become to place this hideous, lusting octopus on our spy satellite for the world to see. Our government's public relations acumen is no less delusional than their political, economic and moral aptitude. RB

‘Nothing is beyond our reach’: Evil octopus strangling the world becomes latest US intelligence seal

    Published time: December 06, 2013 18:26
    Edited time: December 07, 2013 06:21

Billions of dollars annually are being used to fund operations conducted by the United States intelligence community, the likes of which allow the government to eavesdrop on emails, listen to world leaders’ phone calls and about everything in-between.
One thing that budget hasn’t bought, however, is subtlety. The US National Reconnaissance Office launched a top-secret surveillance satellite into space Thursday evening, and the official emblem for the spy agency’s latest mission is, well, certainly accurate, to say the least.
The Office of the Director of National Intelligence live-tweeted Thursday’s launch from Vandenberg Air Force Base in California, and throughout the course of the ordeal made no effort to ignore the logo for the NROL-39 mission.
The latest spy satellite to be sent into orbit by the NRO can be recognized by its seal: a malevolent octopus with furrowed brows that also happens to be wrapping its tentacles around all corners of the Earth.
Nothing is beyond our reach,” the NRO boasts on the bottom half of the emblem just below the most sinister-looking cephalopod likely ever to be sent into space.
Along with the National Security Agency and more than a dozen others, the NRO is one of 16 federal offices under the directive of DNI James Clapper and is responsible for building and operating the spy satellites used to collect intelligence around the world. NRO-gathered intelligence was reportedly instrumental in the mission that brought US Navy SEAL’s to the home of former al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden in 2011, and decades earlier the agency launched a school-bus sized satellite into orbit to spy on Soviets at the height of the Cold War.

This time around the ODNI says the satellite’s payload is mostly classified, but did admit over Twitter that around a dozen mini satellites funded by both the NRO and NASA will be brought along to orbit as well. Another thing they didn’t bother to acknowledge, of course, is how the lack-of-subtlety apparent in the Earth-strangling octopus emblem could quickly be used by critics of the US intelligence community as fodder to further condemn the government for admitting to their sheer and unmatched ability to control the world’s information.
Thursday’s launch of the latest NRO satellite occurred almost exactly six-month-to-the-day after The Guardian and Washington Post newspapers published the first of what has since been revealed to be a trove of leaked national security document showing proof of the NSA’s widespread and extensive ability to monitor people around the world. On June 6 those papers first disclosed evidence in which the NSA was documented to demand telephony metadata from millions of people daily, and a steady stream of leaked files attributed to former intelligence contractor Edward Snowden have since captivated the world while also raising a number of questions.

For half a year now, leaked NSA documents have let the world learn that the US monitors the phone habits of not just Americans, but also foreigners sitting atop the governments of allied nations.
Reporters with access to the cache of pilfered papers have reportedly released only a sliver of what’s been reported to be 50,000 documents during those six months, but the response has already been widespread. The leaders of countries such as Brazil and Germany have lashed out at the NSA’s behavior, and DNI Clapper and his deputy manning the NSA, Gen. Keith Alexander, have easily become two of the most embattled public figures in Washington.
That being said, you’d think ODNI would reconsider launching a new spy satellite. Or maybe even not put an octopus strangling the Earth on the outside.
"You may want to downplay the massive dragnet spying thing right now,” Chris Soghoian, the chief technologist at the American Civil Liberties Union, tweeted Thursday. “This logo isn't helping."
According to a top-secret budget document released by Snowden and first reported on in August, the NRO is in the midst of modernizing their signals intelligence, geospatial and communications system to replace current capabilities.
Looking at the NROL-39 logo, people could be forgiven for mistaking it for a version of the Lovecraftian elder god Cthulhu, who wants to swallow the Earth whole. But that is not the only National Reconnaissance Office emblem with an interesting spin on the space-spying theme: others include Masonic motifs, superhero ones and a few more that, frankly, defy easy classification.

House Republican Leader, Boehner, Leads The Way Into The Abyss

Common Sense Commentary: I have a file of quotes from my friends. One of the best, which applies to House Republican Leader John Boehner's anemic resistance to ObamaCare, is this one from a friend and former church member, where I pastored, Elaine Merritt, who also has a blog. Here is her quote: "Unless the Speaker of the House, John Boehner, defunds “Obamacare,” it will soon be referred to as: "Boehnercare!" – Elaine Merritt.

I use Elaine's quote here after just reading Business Insider, Brett Logiurato's  article (sent me by my friend Rob Storey) revealing the fact that Republican Leader, Boehner, has signed up for ObamaCare ... successfully. God deliver us from both parties ... and the devil and rattlesnakes too.  RB

John Boehner Has Officially Signed Up For Insurance Through Obamacare
    BRETT LOGIURATO NOV. 21, 2013, 6:12 PM 5,382 19

House Speaker John Boehner has officially enrolled in a D.C. insurance exchange under the Affordable Care Act, he said in a blog post on his website Thursday evening, after having some difficulty signing up earlier in the afternoon.

"Like many Americans, my experience was pretty frustrating," he wrote of his experience at first, a reference to the dysfunction that has plagued the exchange websites since their launch
"After putting in my personal information, I received an error message.  I was able to work past that, but when I went to actually sign up for coverage, I got this 'internal server error' screen."
In his original blog post, he wrote that he had put a call into the help desk. A short while later, he added an update:
"Kept at it, and called the DC Health Link help line. They called back a few hours later, and after re-starting the process on the website two more times, I just heard from DC Health Link that I have been successfully enrolled."
Brendan Buck, Boehner's press secretary, joked that "sure didn't take long after the blog post."
The federal health care law requires members to enroll in D.C. exchanges.

Besides supporting ObamaCare, signing up for it and stealing credit for it as BoehnerCare, he has also just out flip-flopped Obama with a double back-flip ... the homosexual issue. He is now leading the Republican Party to get more gays in Republican Public offices ... off two cliffs at once.

This may win him a second new title .... Republocrat. RB

John Boehner says GOP should support gay candidates: ‘I do’

    By Cheryl K. Chumley

    -

    The Washington Times
Speaker John Boehner said the Republican Party ought to openly support gay candidates — a blunt statement that’s sure to ratchet up tensions among traditional conservatives who see the GOP as straying from core principles and wading into political territories held by Democrats.
Mr. Boehner’s exact words, reported by Politico: Republicans should not only “be a little more sensitive” when running against women candidates, but they should also support openly gay individuals who are seeking higher office.
“I do,” he said, in reference to supporting gays for Republican seats, Politico reported.
“Some of our members just aren’t as sensitive as they ought to be,” Mr. Boehner said, speaking to media reports that said Rep. Randy Forbes, from Virginia, was trying to convince the National Republican Congressional Committee to hold back funding from any candidates who were gay.
