In An Era Of Contradiction, The Truth Is Still The Truth

Common Sense Commentary: The truth is the truth is the truth is the truth. Either a  contradiction is a lie or the thing it contradicts is a lie. Truth always agrees with truth, however far removed each is from the other. Everything is either true or false.

"A double minded man is unstable

in all his ways." James 1:8

The word, "Contradict" derives from the Latin, "contradicere" from two words, contra (opposite) plus dicere (to say) which is, "to say the opposite". To say the opposite to what you said before is to contradict yourself.  To embrace two opposite positions is to deny both positions by confirming both. Hot is cold, black is white, up is down, he has good bad morals.  Good is bad and bad is good.
We have arrived at a time in our history when much of American society has adopted the frivolous and capricious conclusion that nothing is absolute.  Nobody can be certain about anything and they are certain of it.  They have thrown truth into the wind and have reaped a whirlwind of lies and error.

"For they have sown the wind, and they shall reap the whirlwind...."  Hosea 8:7.

Ben Stein's observation of a National Contradiction:

Fathom the hypocricy of a nation which requires it's citizens to prove they are insured ... but not everyone must prove they are a citizen.  Now add this, "Many of those who refuse, or are unable to prove they are citizens will receive free insurance paid for by those who are forced to buy insurance because they are citizens."

When I was a young Pastor, a woman came to our church and sat close to the front.
I was at the climactic moment of my sermon when this woman stood up and, supposedly, spoke a few words in "tongues".  Then she gave this "supposed" translation .... "Hear ye the word of God; this man is the faithful messenger of the Lord God, hear ye him."  I responded, "Please sit down and be quiet".  To which she screamed, "You are of the devil".  Her contradiction was obvious to everyone except  her. This experience reminded me of a similar thing which occurred in Acts 16:16-18.

"And it came to pass, as we went to prayer, a certain damsel possessed with a spirit of divination met us, which brought her masters much gain by soothsaying: The same followed Paul and us, and cried, saying, These men are the servants of the most high God, which shew unto us the way of salvation. And this did she many days. But Paul, being grieved, turned and said to the spirit, I command thee in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her. And he came out the same hour."  I have regretted not doing as Paul did.

"Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded."  James 4:8

Here is a short, simple explanation of our National Debt Dilemma. It is a non-partisan video produced by an accountant, Hal Mason, retired after 27 years with IBM. He looks at the National

non-budget, its revenues and expenses, and very simply illustrates our Immeasurable economic problem. Amazingly, we get all the media talking heads and politicians explaining away our situation with stunning ignorance or willful deception, but rarely clarity. This cool-headed  professional provides all the clarity needed in just a couple of minutes, to see the contradictions.

What Really Counts In The Storms Of Life

Common Sense Commentary:  "The wise man in the storm prays to God, not for safety from danger, but for deliverance from fear." - Emerson, 1833

The fact is, there is no benefit, at all, for us in easy, trouble free times, that last for longer than eight hours of needed sleep.  All growth in character, prosperity, education, spirituality and physical or mental development, take place during the hard times in life.  It is tribulation (trial) that develops patience (perseverance) and sets in motion a series of character building, spiritual growth.   "...We glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience.  And patience, experience; and experience, hope:  And hope maketh not ashamed ...."  Romans 5:3-5. Hardship trials produce perseverance/endurance and that produces personal experience proof and that produces the blessed assurance of hope and that positive hope removes the fear and embarrassment of open, public profession of faith in Christ. Tribulation works all that out to the surface of our Christian experience.

It was Job's physical and mental suffering and loss of everything that God used to prepare Job for twice the faith, success, honor and prosperity as he had before his fear and tribulation nearly destroyed him.

Hear these faithful believer's testimonies of the benefits of hardship:

Job - " But he (God) knoweth the way that I take: when he hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold." Job 23:10

Moses - "If ... thou shalt seek the LORD thy God, thou shalt find him, if thou seek him with all thy heart and with all thy soul.  When thou art in tribulation, and all these things are come upon thee, even in the latter days, if thou turn to the LORD thy God, and shalt be obedient unto his voice; (For the LORD thy God is a merciful God;) he will not forsake thee, neither destroy thee, nor forget the covenant of thy fathers which he sware unto them." Deut.4:29-31

Isaiah - " For my name's sake will I defer mine anger, and for my praise will I refrain for thee, that I cut thee not off.   Behold, I have refined thee .... I have chosen thee in the furnace of affliction." Isa.48:9-10

David - "Thou hast dealt well with thy servant, O LORD, according unto thy word.  Teach me good judgment and knowledge: for I have believed thy commandments.  Before I was afflicted I went astray: but now have I kept thy word."  Pam.119:65-67

Solomon -  "My son, despise not the chastening of the LORD; neither be weary of his correction:    For whom the LORD loveth he correcteth; even as a father the son in whom he delighteth.  Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding."  Prov.3:11-13

Peter -  ".... Now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptation (trials):  That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ." 1 Pet.1:6-7

Paul - "Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby." Heb.12:11

Luke -  "Confirming ... the disciples, and exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God." Acts 14:22

Rayburn -  At 81 I can clearly see that all the tribulations and trials of my past life are nothing less that stepping stones leading to God's purpose and plan for my life. RB

Sahara Salt TRADE On Camel Caravans

Common Sense Commentary: Business, Commerce, Trade, Industry, Supplier, Job Creators, Salary and Wage Payers .... World-Wide it means Planning, Work, Effort

These amazing camels, known as "ships of the desert", ply the trade routes of some of the most hostile places on earth.  They string out by the thousands, carrying free enterprise trade goods in such places as the Sahara Desert.  One such free enterprise
item, is salt.  These transport camels , their owners, and employees, stream into a settlement named Troudenni, from all directions. Near this village is a dried-up salt sea called Lake Assale.  Hundreds of salt cutters gather there to work at cutting great blocks of crystallized salt into one ft. by 20 in. by 2 in. rectangles which weigh exactly 15.4324 pounds each.  These are loaded, expertly, on each camel by the owner's employees.  Each transport camel carries 300 plus pounds of salt over 400 miles to Timbuctu or some other such market destination across the Sahara Desert.  This is a
free enterprise business.  At the end of the journey, these salty, hard working employees are paid their agreed upon salary for services rendered ... sometimes in salt.  The word salary originated many years ago from such trade when laborers were paid salt for their work.   This is a tough business of tough employers  and tough
laborers working with tough transport camels in a tough businessBut, each is rewarded for his work and thereby supports and cares for his wife and children.

If you would not be willing to do such a job, to feed your family, or you besmirch such employers for making their living "on the backs of their employees", you are a Socialist.  If you also do not believe in God, the combination makes you a Communist.
Do something constructive for a change; cash out your savings, sell all your possessions and go over there and help those millions of poor, hard working people do better. You have so much and they have so little.  You are a millionaire in their eyes.
Maybe you can create a better business and pay higher wages so they could have a better life.  Until you are willing to do that, stop criticising those who are creating jobs.

Men and camels were created to work for their sustenance.  That's why God put muscles on us. Genesis 2:15 "And the LORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it." That means WORK ... before the curse.
After they sinned, God expanded work to hard labour. Genesis 3:19 " In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return."  The Bible leaves no doubt about how to deal with healthy people who won't work.  2 Thess.3:11 "For we hear that there are some which walk among you disorderly, working not at all, but are busybodies."    2 Thess.3:10 "For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat."

Camels are amazing beasts of burden. They have large, flat feet, created for the hot desert, sand surface and for carrying heavy loads for hundreds of miles.  Their long legs lift their bodies high above the hot sand and give them the rare ability to run 40 miles per hour for short distances and 25 miles per hour for over an hour.  All four legs can kick in all four directions.  Their long legs and necks give them a wide view over sand dunes for good observation.  They have ugly, rubbery knobs on knees and belly created there for sitting on the hot sand.  They have two stomachs; one for large amounts of food and the other to digest it later.  Green plants supply them both food and water.  They can eat almost anything... even thorns and can drink 40 gallons of water at a time.  A camel's temperature varies from 95 degrees at night to 106 degrees in the day-time but they do not sweat until they reach 106 degrees.  Their hump is stored, excess energy in the form of fat, for emergencies.  A camel's blood cells are oval so blood can flow through their veins, even when greatly dehydrated, so they can go long distances without water.  They can lose 25% of body fluids harmlessly.  Their breath, when exhaled, is filtered of moisture which is recycled back into their bodies. Their heavy coats reflect sunlight and insulate them from heat.  Their nostrils close against wind and sand but still they can breath.  Their eyes have heavy brows and lashes against the sun and sand, plus double eye lids.  The extra one is like a windshield wiper and is silvery looking but is translucent and  they can see through it. The camel supplies wool, milk, meat and blood to it's owner.

The point I want to make relates to the bleeding of camels by their owners, for food.  The owner sometimes cuts a small slice in a neck vein of his camel, draws out a jar of blood and either drinks it or makes a blood soup or gravy of it.  He does not allow anyone else to bleed his camels.  They are his business.  He raised them. He feeds them. He protects them.  He admires and loves them almost like family.

America has spawned several generations of hungry, "entitled" bleeders of someone else's free enterprise camels.  Business owners pay the price in time, money and talent to build up their businesses. They are then taxed exorbitantly by government to feed, house, cloth, medicate and educate these blood suckers of other men's and women's labors.  Our U.S. camels (mostly small businesses) have been so profusely bled by so many blood suckers that the camels can't carry their assigned loads or endure all the heavy hardships put upon them by government ... and legitimate commerce.   It is time to stop bleeding our free enterprise, job makers, by and for  blood suckers .... takers.  The job makers are moving out of this country by the thousands and being replaced by more takers, blood suckers and tax eaters, moving into our country. Soon we will all be economically equal ..... equally poor and equally broke because the job creators are leaving for business friendlier countries.

Here are two different investment approaches, one Free Enterprise, one Socialist

Idealism Is Not Realism

Learn to settle for less than perfect, in this life.  Some would argue, "Never settle for less than the best". That sounds good but it is a futile pursuit if "the best" is an unrealistic dream. Yes, Hollywood portrays perfect marriages, perfect families, perfect people but none of those "actors" are what they portray and usually even worse than average.  Life is not perfect. People are not perfect. Absolutely nothing is perfect except God Himself.  All else we can hear, see, smell or touch, is less than perfect, less than ideal, faulty in some respect.

If you do not learn to be content with the reality of imperfection, you will never be content.  If you cannot rest with your imperfections and still strive to do your very best, anyway, you will wear yourself out and everyone around you.  Idealism is not realism.  It is good to have high standards, hopes, dreams and goals above and beyond the average.  But do not give up and quit trying to be more and better than you are when reality slaps you in the face.  Every day, settle for real improvement, inches of progress, and small gains in who you are or where you are going.  the key to success, happiness and spiritual growth is to be aimed in the right direction and to keep moving, never stopping advancement ... though in small, baby steps.  You can accomplish the unimaginable, not by rushing the brick wall or running up the mountain of challenge, but by one small, baby step at a time and never stopping, never giving up.

Trying to perfect the world is an idealist's folly.  Thinking you can perfect yourself or anyone else, assures a miserable life for yourself and everyone you love.  The do-gooder dream of social and economic equality is a Socialistic nightmare.  Eliminating a "problem pregnancy" does not solve the problem, it compounds it.  Dissatisfaction is a human characteristic which, if not channeled toward progress, ends in the loss of the good and real things in life.

"Someone take care of me" begins at birth, but if not weaned from that nipple, morphs from a spoiled brat into a selfish egoist,  into a self centered sociopath, into a  free stuff Socialist, into a  despotic Communist.

Politicians who dream of perfection for all, spend their city, state or nation into total bankruptcy while making every imperfect thing more and more imperfect. Idealism is not realism.

Preachers who preach perfection, in the flesh, grow from youthful idealists into hypocrites, into false prophets, into hindrances to the cause of Christ and obstacles in the way of Salvation.

We must not accommodate sin or make peace with lies,  but we must settle for imperfection by embracing reality, truth and forgiveness.

Be all you can be, but do not seek to be an impossible ideal.  You might as well accept your humanity .... You cannot escape it.... though pressing on the upward way.

Real improvement in  the outer man, human flesh, is minimal at best. The only real  change and improvement, in our humanity, must be upon the inner man, our eternal spirit, and that, only through faith in Christ and by Him, as we seek Him. RB

"But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord." 2Cor.3:18. Real change and real hope are in spiritual growth.

Shakespear's Polonius to his son:

This above all: to thine own self be true,
And it must follow, as the night the day,
Thou canst not then be false to any man.

Intelligent Humanoid Robots Are At Your Door

My question of the following verses, is not "Who is the first beast or the second beast, but what is the man made image of the beast which has life and can speak ?"
Consider this: Technology is now blending human organisms with electronic  high-tech.  Is this what our government is introducing in the article which follows these verses?

And I stood .... and saw a beast rise up out of the sea .... and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority .... And they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they worshipped the beast, saying, Who is like unto the beast? ....   And there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies ....   And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations .... And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world ....  He that leadeth into captivity shall go into captivity: he that killeth with the sword must be killed with the sword .... And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon .... And he exerciseth all the power of the first beast before him, and causeth the earth and them which dwell therein to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed .....  And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth .... saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live .... And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed ....  And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads .... And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.  Rev.13:1-17

Pentagon Developing Autonomous Humanoid Robots That Can Act Intelligently Without Supervision

The Department of Defense has awarded a lucrative contract to an engineering and robotics design company to develop and build humanoid robots that can act intelligently without supervision.

Boston Dynamics Inc. has been contracted by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), the agency responsible for the development of new technologies for use by the military, in a deal worth $10.9 million.

The DoD announced Tuesday that “The robotic platforms will be humanoid, consisting of two legs, a torso, two arms with hands, a sensor head and on board computing.”

DARPA’s website says that the robots will help “conduct humanitarian, disaster relief and related operations.”

“The plan identifies requirements to extend aid to victims of natural or man-made disasters and conduct evacuation operations.” reads the brief, first released in April as part of DARPA’s ‘Robotics Challenge’.

The robots will operate with “supervised autonomy”, according to DARPA, and will be able to act intelligently by themselves, making their own decisions if and when direct supervision is not possible.

The Pentagon also envisions that the robots will be able to use basic and diverse “tools”.

“The primary technical goal of the DRC is to develop ground robots capable of executing complex tasks in dangerous, degraded, human-engineered environments. Competitors in the DRC are expected to focus on robots that can use standard tools and equipment commonly available in human environments, ranging from hand tools to vehicles, with an emphasis on adaptability to tools with diverse specifications.” reads the original brief.

The robots are set to be completed by Aug. 9, 2014, according to the contract.

Boston Dynamics has enjoyed a long working relationship with DARPA, during which time it has developed the rather frightening BigDog. This hydraulic quadruped robot can carry up to 340lb load, meaning it can be effectively weaponised, and recovers its balance even after sliding on ice and snow:

The company has also developed the CHEETAH- Fastest Legged Robot, a four-footed robot that gallops at 18 mph.

The company also developed RiSE, a robot that climbs vertical terrain such as walls, trees and fences, using feet with micro-claws to climb on textured surfaces.

In addition to a host of other smaller robots, Boston Dynamics is also developing PETMAN, a robot that simulates human physiology and balances itself as it walks, squats and does calisthenics:

While the Pentagon says the robots are for “humanitarian” missions, one cannot avoid thinking of the propensity to adapt this kind of military style technology for other more aggressive purposes.

Indeed, the Pentagon has, in the past, issued a request to contractors to develop teams of robots that can search for, detect and track “non-cooperative” humans in “pursuit/evasion scenarios”.

Issued in 2008, the request, called for a “Multi-Robot Pursuit System” to be operated by one person.

The proposal described the need to

“…develop a software/hardware suit that would enable a multi-robot team, together with a human operator, to search for and detect a non-cooperative human subject.

The main research task will involve determining the movements of the robot team through the environment to maximize the opportunity to find the subject, while minimizing the chances of missing the subject. If the operator is an active member of the search team, the software should minimize the chance that the operator may encounter the subject.”

It is seemingly important to the Pentagon that the operator should not have to come into contact with the person being chased down by the machines.

The description continues:

“The software should maintain awareness of line-of-sight, as well as communication and sensor limits. It will be necessary to determine an appropriate sensor suite that can reliably detect human presence and is suitable for implementation on small robotic platforms.”

Paul Marks at The New Scientist pointed out such proposals are somewhat concerning, because they inevitably will be adapted for domestic purposes such as crowd control.

“…how long before we see packs of droids hunting down pesky demonstrators with paralysing weapons? Or could the packs even be lethally armed?” Marks asks.

Marks interviewed Steve Wright, an expert on police and military technologies, from Leeds Metropolitan University , who commented:

“The giveaway here is the phrase ‘a non-cooperative human subject’.

What we have here are the beginnings of something designed to enable robots to hunt down humans like a pack of dogs. Once the software is perfected we can reasonably anticipate that they will become autonomous and become armed.

We can also expect such systems to be equipped with human detection and tracking devices including sensors which detect human breath and the radio waves associated with a human heart beat. These are technologies already developed.”

Indeed, noted as PHASE III on the Pentagon proposal was the desire to have the robots developed to “intelligently and autonomously search”.

Top robotics expert, Noel Sharkey, Professor of Artificial Intelligence and Robotics at the University of Sheffield, has previously warned that the world may be sleepwalking into a potentially lethal technocracy and has called for safeguards on such technology to be put into place.

In 2008, Professor Sharkey told listeners:

“If you have an autonomous robot then it’s going to make decisions who to kill, when to kill and where to kill them. The scary thing is that the reason this has to happen is because of mission complexity and also so that when there’s a problem with communications you can send a robot in with no communication and it will decide who to kill, and that is really worrying to me.”

The professor also warned that such autonomous weapons could easily be used in the future by law enforcement officials in cites, pointing out that South Korean authorities are already planning to have a fully armed autonomous robot police force in their cities.

Europe Died In Auschwitz:Traded 6Mil.Jews For 20Mil Muslims

Common Sense Commentary: This is not about what Muslims once were but what they have become .... elements in the kingdom of the beast.
The following is a copy of an article written by Spanish Writer Sebastian Vilar Rodriguez and published in a Spanish newspaper On Jan. 15, 2008. It doesn't take much imagination to extrapolate the Message to the rest of Europe - and possibly to the rest of the world.

REMEMBER AS YOU READ -- IT WAS IN A SPANISH PAPER

ALL EUROPEAN LIFE DIED IN AUSCHWITZ By Sebastian Vilar Rodrigez

I walked down the street in Barcelona , and suddenly. Discovered a terrible truth - Europe died in Auschwitz ... We killed Six million Jews and replaced them with 20 million Muslims. In Auschwitz we burned a culture, thought, creativity, talent. We Destroyed the chosen people, truly chosen, because they produced great
And wonderful people who changed the world.

The contribution of this people is felt in all areas of life: Science, art, international trade, and above all, as the conscience Of the world. These are the people we burned.

And under the pretense of tolerance, and because we wanted to prove to ourselves that we were cured of the disease of racism, we opened our gates to 20 million Muslims, who brought us stupidity and ignorance, religious extremism and lack of tolerance, crime and poverty, due to an unwillingness to work and support their families with pride.

They have blown up our trains and turned our beautiful Spanish cities into the third world, drowning in filth and crime.

Shut up in the apartments they receive free from the Government, they plan the murder and destruction of their naive hosts.

And thus, in our misery, we have exchanged culture for fanatical hatred, creative skill for destructive skill, intelligence for backwardness and superstition.

We have exchanged the pursuit of peace of the Jews of Europe and their talent for a better future for their children, their determined clinging to life because life is holy, for those who pursue death, for people consumed by the desire for death for themselves and others, for our children and theirs.

What a terrible mistake was made by miserable Europe. The Global Islamic population is approximately 1,200,000,000; that is ONE BILLION TWO HUNDRED MILLION or 20% of the world's population. They have received the following NobelPrizes:

There is NOT a single Jew who protests by killing people.

The Jews don't traffic slaves, nor have leaders calling for Jihad and death to all the Infidels.

Perhaps the world's Muslims should consider investing more in standard education and less in blaming the Jews for all their problems.

Muslims must ask 'what can they do for humankind' before they demand that humankind respects them.

Regardless of your feelings about the crisis between Israel and the Palestinians and Arab neighbors, even if you believe there is more culpability on Israel 's part, the following two sentences really say it all:

"If the Arabs put down their weapons today, there would be no more violence. If the Jews put down their weapons today, there would be no more Israel ." Benjamin Netanyahu

General Eisenhower warned us it is a matter of history that when the Supreme Commander of the Allied Forces, General Dwight Eisenhower, found the victims of the death camps he ordered all possible photographs to be taken, and for the German people from surrounding villages to be ushered through the camps and even made to bury the dead.

He did this because he said in words to this effect:

'Get it all on record now - get the films - get the witnesses - because somewhere down the road of history someone will get up and say that this never happened'

Recently, the UK debated whether to remove The Holocaust from its school curriculum because it 'offends' the Muslim population which claims it never occurred. It is not removed as yet. However, this is a frightening portent of the fear that is gripping the world and how easily each country is giving into it.

It is now more than 60 years after the Second World War in Europe ended. This e-mail is being sent as a memorial chain, in memory of the, 6 million Jews, 20 million Russians, 10 million Christians, 2 million gypsies, and 1,900 Catholic priests who were 'murdered, raped, burned, starved, beaten, experimented on and humiliated' while the German people looked the other way.

Now, more than ever, with Iran , among others, claiming the Holocaust to be 'a myth,' it is imperative to make sure the world never forgets.

This e-mail is intended to reach 400 million people. Be a link in the memorial chain and help distribute this around the world.

How many years will it be before the attack on the World Trade Center 'NEVER HAPPENED' because it offends some Muslim in the United States ?

Mark Of The Beast Printed On Skin?

Common Sense Commentary:  Revelation 13:16 And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads. .....and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years. Rev.20:4

From io9.com   By Robert T. Gonzalez

Breakthrough: Electronic circuits that are integrated with your skin

A team of engineers today announced a discovery that could change the world of electronics forever. Called an "epidermal electronic system" (EES), it's basically an electronic circuit mounted on your skin, designed to stretch, flex, and twist — and to take input from the movements of your body.
EES is a leap forward for wearable technologies, and has potential applications ranging from medical diagnostics to video game control and accelerated wound-healing. Engineers John Rogers and Todd Coleman, who worked on the discovery, tell io9 it's a huge step towards erasing the divide that separates machine and human.
Coleman and Rogers say they developed EES to forego the hard and rigid electronic "wafer" format of traditional electronics in favor of a softer, more dynamic platform.

To accomplish this, their team brought together scientists from several labs to develop "filamentary serpentine" (threadlike and squiggly) circuitry. When this circuitry is mounted on a thin, rubber substrate with elastic properties similar to skin, the result is a flexible patch that can bend and twist, or expand and contract, all without affecting electronic performance.
This video demonstrates the resilience of the EES patch, and how easily it can be applied. The patch (comprised of the circuitry and rubber substrate) is first mounted on a thin sheet of water-soluble plastic, then applied to the skin with water like a temporary tattoo.
How Will We Wear Our Second Skin?
So what can an EES really do for us? The short answer is: a lot. In the paper describing their new technology, published in this week's issue of Science, the researchers illustrated the adaptability of their concept by demonstrating functionality in a wide array of electronic components, including biometric sensors, LEDs, transistors, radio frequency capacitors, wireless antennas, and even conductive coils and solar cells for power.
Breakthrough: Electronic circuits that are integrated with your skinWe asked Rogers what he thought were the most promising applications for the new technology. He said medicine was the most compelling:
Our paper demonstrates our ability to monitor ECG (as a monitor of heart disease and metabolism), EMG (as a measure of, among other things, gait during walking) and EEG (as a measure of cognitive state and awareness).
We have also shown that these same devices can stimulate muscle tissue to induce contractions. When combined with sensing/monitoring, such modes of use could be valuable in physical rehabilitation. We also have interest in sleep monitoring (for sleep apnea), and neo-natal care (monitoring premature babies, in particular).
According to Rogers, the electronic skin has already been shown to monitor patients' health measurements as effectively as conventional state-of-the-art electrodes that require bulky pads, straps, and irritating adhesive gels. "The fidelity of the measurement is equal to the best existing technology that is out there today, but in a very unique skin-like form," he explained.
Breakthrough: Electronic circuits that are integrated with your skinWhat's more, the electronic skin's unique properties allow it to do things that existing biometric sensors simply can't touch. Todd Coleman, who co-led the project with Rogers, told io9 how an EES could be applied to a person's throat to serve as a communication aid:
Within the realm of biomedical applications, one can imagine providing benefits to patients with muscular or neurological disorders like ALS. For example, in the Science article, our research group used the device…to control a computer strategy game with muscles in the throat by speaking the commands.
In principle, the same function could have been achieved by simply mouthing commands rather than speaking them out loud. As such, this capability could be provided to ALS patients so that they could "speak" through an epidermal electronics system that is un-noticeable to them, and invisible to other observers.
Breakthrough: Electronic circuits that are integrated with your skin Eroding the Distinction Between Machine and Human
Outside the context of biomedicine, the EES's inconspicuous nature opens up a whole world of possibilities. The patches are already barely noticeable, but when mounted directly onto a temporary tattoo, for example, any evidence of electronic circuitry disappears. Coleman said:
[This technology] provides a huge conceptual advance in wedding the biological world to the cyber world in a manner that is very natural. In some sense, the boundary between the electronics world and the biological world is becoming increasingly amorphous. The ramifications of this are mind-blowing, to say the least.
I envision endless applications that extend beyond biomedical applications. For example, we could use the exact same technology – and specifically its discrete tattoo-like appearance – to perform covert military operations where an agent could communicate to the command station with these electric signals without ever speaking a word.

Coleman's statement touches on what is perhaps this most important thing about today's announcement, namely the precedent it sets for future technologies that aim to combine the organismal with the synthetic.
"The blurring of electronics and biology is really the key point here," said Northwestern University's Yonggang Huang, with whom Rogers and Coleman collaborated. "All established forms of electronics are hard, rigid. Biology is soft, elastic. It's two different worlds. This is a way to truly integrate them."
Looking to the future, Rogers echoes his colleague's sentiments. Describing what he envisions for his research group in the coming years, he said:
We would like to expand the functionality such that the devices not only seamlessly integrate with the human body in a mechanical sense, but that they also communicate and interact with the tissue in modes that go beyond electrons and photons (the ‘currency' of semiconductor device technologies), to the level of fluids and biomolecules (i.e. the ‘currency' of biology). We are hoping, in this way, to blur the distinction between electronics and the human body, in ways that can advance human health.

"Science, Falsey So Called" Global Warming

Common Sense Commentary:   " O Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane and vain babblings, and oppositions of science falsely so called" 1Tim.6:20. First they called it "Global Warming, then changed it to "Climate Change"
so they would be right whether it got warmer or cooler. Change you can believe in???

$6 quadrillion cost of the climate scam

Christopher Monckton of Brenchley on economics of fighting 'global warming'

ERICE, Sicily – The capture of the once-pure environmental movement by the hard left is far from cheap for the rest of us. I have just told the annual planetary-emergencies conference of the World Federation of Scientists that on the basis of the lunatic anti-CO2 policies now fashionable among scientifically illiterate governments, it would cost $6 quadrillion to prevent the 6 degrees Fahrenheit of predicted “global warming” that will not happen anyway.
Professor Antonino Zichichi, one of the world’s top six particle physicists (he discovered a form of anti-matter 40 years before the multi-billion-dollar Large Hadron Collider did), is the most famous Italian scientist since his hero Galileo. He founded the Federation half a century ago and, at the age of 83, is its president to this day.
Nino looks like a proper scientist. Imagine giving his friend Albert Einstein an electric shock, and that is what his hair looks like. He is fitter than me and attributes his good health to walking an hour every day, not drinking alcohol and not eating lunch (that’s for wimps). He lives in a medieval stone house in the unspoiled, monastic village of Erice, Sicily, perched high on a 2,500-foot crag overlooking the blue Mediterranean.
He is an angry man. Angry because he, like me, was brought up in the Classical tradition, which insists that the duty of every “seeker after truth” (Al-Haytham’s beautiful phrase for the scientist) is to be logical and rational. He founded the Federation at the height of the Cold War to remind scientists of their moral responsibility to use their craft for good, not for ill, and of their intellectual obligation to adhere rigorously to the scientific method.
Nino is furious at the politicization of climate science. Science these days is a monopsony. There is only one paying customer: the State. Scientists increasingly produce the results their political paymasters want rather than seeking after truth.
Nowhere is the buying of desired results by governments clearer than in Nick Stern’s now-discredited report of 2006 on climate economics. The U.N.’s absurd climate panel had already at least tripled the true (and harmless) rate of warming to be expected from our adding CO2 to the air. Stern, to please his socialist paymasters, tripled it again without the slightest justification. Then he divided by 10 the true cost of making global warming go away and multiplied by 10 the true cost of not acting to Save The Planet (memo to Old Nick: The planet was triumphantly saved 2,000 years ago and doesn’t need saving again).
Tony Blair, the shifty socialist prime minister of the day, was so delighted with this nonsense that he gave Stern a peerage and installed him as head of the Grantham Institute, a lavishly funded propaganda institution promoting fear of climatic Armageddon and hatred of the West.
Using Old Nick’s report as a pretext, Blair (with the near-unanimous support of all parties, including Call-Me-Dave Cameron’s Not-The-Conservative-Party) introduced the biggest tax increase in human history. With only three votes against, the Climate Change and National Economic Hara-Kiri Act was passed on the very night when the first October snow for 74 years was falling outside in Parliament Square.
With the help of the Italian Government, which takes an intelligent interest in science, Nino Zichichi bought three redundant monasteries in Erice and turned them into a center of scientific excellence, where the world’s finest minds come throughout the year to attend courses and seminars and to exchange ideas.
The crème da la crème come to the annual seminars on planetary emergencies every August. This year, at my suggestion, the Federation’s climate panel organized a discussion on climate economics. None of the distinguished speakers had a kind word for Old Nick and his silly report. In particular, he was criticized for his wild exaggeration of the supposed threat. After 15 years without any global warming at all, his conclusion that there is a 10 percent chance the world will end this century because of global warming now looks sad and dated.
President Vaclav Klaus of the Czech Republic gave the keynote lecture. At the U.N.’s Save-The-Planet climate conference in 2007, he had been the only leader to speak out publicly against the climate scam. A dozen other world leaders told him privately that they agreed with him but did not dare say anything publicly.
President Klaus demanded a hard-headed rational approach to climate policy-making, as did Lord Lawson, Margaret Thatcher’s former finance minister. Professor Ross McKitrick, who had exposed the U.N.’s fraudulent attempt to abolish the medieval warm period in 2001, said climate models and the policies based on them should be adjusted to take account of the failure of temperature to rise as predicted.
Using Australia’s new carbon dioxide tax as a case study, I demonstrated that it is 48 times more expensive to try to make global warming go away than to let it happen and enjoy the sunshine.
Nino, having heard the arguments, announced a new permanent panel to monitor developments in climate economics. Now hear this, if you are thinking of writing a bogus report like Old Nick’s to please your government paymasters: We are watching.
President Klaus’ lectio magistralis to the Federation is available here. My paper is here.

Boyhood Bad Decisions/Quantitative Easing

Washington's Quantitative Easing (QE) is like bailing out a  row boat that has a thousand leaks in it ... with a sardine can; or crawling into a deep,  dangerous hole with no exits.

When I was a boy of 13, my best friend, Robert Clark, and I spent Friday nights and Saturdays on and around Mountain Creek Lake near Grand Prairie, Texas.  We had many an ill adventure our parents were completely in the dark about.  Things like crawling into a large, house sized pile of North American Aircraft Plant trash, near our camp site.  We crawled, like moles, into the center of this pile of boxes, pallets and cardboard trash without flashlights.   When we smelled smoke, we knew that was a bad sign so we dug our retreat toward the outside and popped out right where two sailors were lighting that pile of trash.  they cussed us out but it had no effect on stupidity. We already knew that language so what could they teach us?  We knew it all. Did it help us become less stupid ?  No! Robert and I call that rare ignorance... our Quantitative Easing #1. It was a lot of fire and smoke and cussin ... and a total loss. Did it help America? No!

Safely out of danger of being burned alive ... temporarily, we decided to go swim in a channel between the two parts of the lake.  I was ahead of Robert in about the middle of the 50 yard wide channel .... when I got hung up on a trot line.  The hook was in my left hand and Robert was trying to pull me off by my right hand.  That left me no hands to dog paddle with and him with but one.  That's one swimming hand between two dumb boys... near drowning.  The hook finally tore lose and we survived a while longer without having learned anything yet.  We call that our Quantitative Easing #2. Did it solve our ignoramus problem? Did we learn by our mistakes? No!  Did QE #2 solve America's drowing ignoramus problem?  No again. You would think adulthood and experience would teach politicians some little bit of wisdom ... but No, it appears not.

From the channel, we found an unoccupied, old wooden row boat and naturally assumed it was ours to enjoy.  The sky was darkening and black in the southwest but we were obsessed with that boat and didn't mind getting wet; we had been wet before.  And the lake was beckoning us to cross it with our new, old boat. We would sail out upon the deep and across to that power plant over there, about a mile,  and then sail back before dark and home ... so heave ho and away we go. It was only about 5pm Saturday and our mothers didn't pay any attention to what we were up to.  We took turns  rowing with our one board and dipping our water with ye old sardine can.  About half way across, a real storm hit us broad-side.  Lightening, thunder and rain demonstrating, for our benefit, the perils of the sea.  The sou-west wind was blowing us out... not back, so we rowed with the winds of fate to our destiny.  Robert couldn't "bail out" the water fast enough to reduce the water level below our shoe tops.  The waves were helping fill the ship and slowing our progress to safe haven on the far side of the the great waters. We were novice sailors, too big for our britches, rather like those steering our ship of state.  Even if we survived, we would be on the wrong side of the mighty deep and a thousand miles from home ... six actually.   Seaman Robert and I call that "bail out and row" storm to the far side of nowhere our Quantitative Easing #3.  It worked even less well than QE#1 or QE#2, and left us cold, wet, hungry, in the dark and on a distant shore a million miles from where we should have been.  Seems like it took decades to get back to even ... and home.  Did we learn anything .... well yes ... finally.  I learned not to go to sea, in a storm, in a leaky boat, without a proper paddle and an emergency, hi-tech plan to get back to sanity.  Have our politicians learned anything? Obviously not.  I see Quantitative Easing to infinity because there is NO way back. The winds of fate are against us.  It's either default on our debt or print money.  The storm I see coming will not blow away our debt no matter who is President or Congressmen, though it will certainly blow us to some unfamiliar, unpleasant, distant shore.

If you doubt my stories, call Robert Clark on Windsor Drive in Arlington, Texas. Maybe he will tell you about crashing a small plane in our back yard when he was 13.
You don't believe that either ?  Call my older sister Betty Rychlik also living in Arlington.  If I know you, I will give you her number if you will call me at 817-897-2116.  It's true ... and he was soloing at 13 and 1/2. His dad convinced the small airport he was 16.  That's Texas. RB

What Meaneth All This Gov. Survivalist Food and Ammo?

Common Sense Commentary: Where there's smoke, there's fire and where there's stockpiling, there's fear.  What does our government know that we don't ?

NOAA Buying Hollow-Point Ammo … for Weather Service??

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration has put in an order for 46,000 rounds of .40-caliber hollow-point bullets.
This follows the order of 450 million rounds of hollow-point ammo by the Department of Homeland Security.
The NOAA order was originally attributed to the National Weather Service, but once the news got out, the NOAA said the ammo and 500 paper targets were intended for its Fisheries Office of Law Enforcement. The online order still says National Weather Service, however.
Hollow-point bullets are designed to flatten and spread out on impact, causing a larger wound than ordinary ammunition and increasing the likelihood of a fatal injury.
It’s not the sort of thing you would normally waste on shooting paper targets. Or on fish. Or on rainclouds.
All of which raises a few questions. …
Meanwhile, back at the Department of Homeland Security, officials have been making preparations for what looks like a civil war.
In addition to the millions of rounds of bullets, the DHS has been ordering riot gear, bulletproof traffic-stop booths and even more bullets — these .357-Magnum rounds capable of shooting through walls.

All this beefing up of DHS forces is ostensibly in preparation for the Democratic and Republican national conventions and the presidential inauguration.
The New Black Panther Party has threatened violence at the Republican convention. Chief of Staff Michelle Williams threatened the RNC, saying the Black Panthers’ “foot will be on you goddamn motherf—ers’ necks.”
These are the people Attorney General Eric Holder gave a pass to in a voter intimidation case.
Occupy Wall Street, according to its website, is planning protests during both political conventions, but since OWS is manipulated by the White House, the real action will likely be at the Republican convention.
With the DHS and other agencies armed to the teeth, look for things to possibly get ugly very quickly in Tampa.

Preparing for civil unrest? Ammunition to be delivered to 41 locations across U.S.

UPDATE: DHS Now Covering Up Ammo Purchases?
First it was the Department of Homeland Security, then it was the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, and now the Social Security Administration is set to purchase 174,000 rounds of hollow point bullets that will be delivered to 41 locations across the country.
A solicitation posted by the SSA on the FedBizOpps website asks for contractors to supply 174,000 rounds of “.357 Sig 125 grain bonded jacketed hollow point pistol ammunition.”
An online ammunition retailer describes the bullets as suitable “for peak performance rivaling and sometimes surpassing handloads in many guns,” noting that the ammo is “a great personal defense bullet.”
The synopsis to the solicitation adds that the ammunition is to be shipped to 41 locations within 60 days of purchase. A separate spreadsheet lists those locations, which include the Social Security headquarters in Baltimore, Maryland as well as major cities across the country including Los Angeles, Detroit, Oklahoma City, Dallas, Houston, Atlanta, Denver, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh and Seattle.
Hollow point bullets are designed to expand as they enter the body, causing
maximumdamage by tearing apart internal organs.  (Scroll down to rest of article)
It’s not outlandish to suggest that the Social Security Administration is purchasing the bullets as part of preparations for civil unrest. Social security welfare is estimated to keep around 40 per cent of senior citizens out of poverty. Should the tap run dry in the aftermath of an economic collapse which the Federal Reserve has already told top banks to prepare for, domestic disorder could ensue if people are refused their benefits.
Indeed, earlier this year the Department of Homeland Security ran a drill called Operation Shield which included turning the entrance of a Florida Social Security office into a checkpoint manned by Federal Protective Service officers armed with semiautomatic rifles.
“With their blue and white SUVs circled around the Main Street office, at least one official was posted on the door with a semiautomatic rifle, randomly checking identifications. And other officers, some with K-9s, sifted through the building,” reported the Daily Commercial.
A rash of solicitations by federal agencies for hollow point bullets in recent months has stoked fears that the government is preparing for civil unrest caused by a financial collapse on a scale similar or even larger to scenes already witnessed in Europe over the last two years.
As we reported yesterday, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has put out a contract for 46,000 rounds of hollow point bullets along with 500 paper targets.
Despite initially asking the bullets to be delivered to the National Weather Service, NOAA claimed this was a “clerical error” and insisted the ammunition was being sent to the Fisheries Office of Law Enforcement. Why powerful hollow point bullets that are designed to tear apart internal organs are needed for practice shooting at paper targets has not been explained.
Back in March, Homeland Security purchased 450 million rounds of .40-caliber hollow point bullets that are designed to expand upon entry and cause maximum organ damage, prompting questions as to why the DHS needed such a large amount of powerful bullets merely for training purposes.
This was followed by another DHS solicitation asking for a further 750 million rounds of assorted bullets, including 357 mag rounds that are able to penetrate walls.
The DHS recently put out an order for riot gear in preparation for the upcoming DNC, RNC and presidential inauguration. The U.S. Army is also busy buying similar equipment.
The DHS also recently purchased a number of bullet-proof checkpoint booths that include ‘stop and go’ lights.  (Scroll down to next article on FEMA)

Early last year, we reported that the federal government was quietly stockpiling millions of emergency meals, tying up so much capacity that consumers were reporting shortages in the stores.

Now the feds are doing it again.
On July 12, FEMA published a 33-page solicitation document inviting vendors to put in a bid to produce "an indefinite quantity" -- but up to 17,500,000 million units -- of survival meals. Here's an excerpt from the official documents:
All meals must be shelf stable, self-heating, and include an entrée along with additional meal components that can be consumed either as part of the meal or reserved for a supplemental snack. The meals should provide a variety of nutrient dense foods that reflect the basic food groups... Meal components should be appropriate for consumption by the full range of disaster survivors including children and seniors (65 years and older)... All meals/kits must have 30-36 months long shelf-life remaining upon delivery... The contractor must have the capability to produce and ship up to 1,000,000 meals within 48 hours of notification.
According to the official documents, chosen vendors should be prepared for multiple orders to come in over a period of time, and delivery could be required to multiple locations. In other words, the government is saying, "We may need millions of meals, on multiple occasions, and in different places."
Vague as it is, it's nonetheless chilling. What do they know that we don't?

I can think of at least 3 scenarios that the government may be quietly preparing for...
A major EMP event takes down the grid: potential disaster #1?
Last month, former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich wrote an op-ed piece for the Washington Post about the effects of an EMP event. Whether from an enemy weapon or a naturally occurring solar flare, an electromagnetic pulse would devastate the national power grid, with repairs taking months or years to complete. With the grid down, civilization as we know it would come to a grinding halt.
Gingrich is one of the few political insiders working on this issue -- and it's possible that his ongoing efforts have finally gotten some attention from FEMA.
Remember, if the grid goes down, the U.S. food distribution system literally grinds to a halt. With just 3 days' worth of food in any given community, we depend on electricity to run gas pumps to fill the trucks that carry food from farm to market. We depend on electricity to prevent food from spoiling by keeping it frozen or refrigerated. We depend on electricity to keep stores open and cash registers running so people can purchase food. If the grid goes down, within 72 hours the supplies of food coming into cities and towns will stop. (And then all hell breaks loose.)
We're delighted that FEMA has the foresight to order up to 17.5 million meals. But in a major crisis, that's barely a drop in the bucket. You simply can't depend on FEMA to keep you from starving. That's why it's so important to have your own emergency food supply.
An event that involves a nuclear incident and destruction of housing: potential disaster #2?
If you want to know what the government is worried about, just watch what they're buying. A few weeks ago, the feds put out an RFP for "Program Management Support (subject matter experts) for the FEMA Domestic Emergency Support Team and Nuclear Incident Response Team... This is a new requirement... to acquire subject matter experts and technical support."
Around the same time, with Solicitation No. HSFE80-12-R-0033, FEMA announced plans to award contracts to housing inspectors -- the folks who assess the damages in disasters. The work involves onsite inspection of disaster-related property information, including the extent of damage to the dwelling, insurance status, how the habitability of the home is affected, verification of ownership, damage to personal property including vehicles, road and bridge access, and more. According to the official documents, "FEMA anticipates awarding multiple Housing Inspection Services contracts. Multiple Contractors may be required to respond to the same disaster(s) as needed and required by the DHS-FEMA."
Whether it's a New Madrid earthquake that affects nuclear power plants, a terrorist attack on U.S. soil, or some other disaster, these days the federal register is filled with contracts like these. Are they just being prudent, or do they know something we don't?

Rioting and civil unrest during election season: potential disaster #3?
On July 25, according to news reports, the Department of Homeland Security put out a rush request for riot gear on the Federal Business Opportunities website. According to the reports, online government documentation explicitly stated, "riot gear to prepare for the 2012 Democratic and Republican National Conventions, the 2013 Presidential Inauguration, and other future similar activities." The solicitation was a rush order, proposals were only being accepted for 24 hours, and fulfillment of the order was expected by mid-August. (That solicitation no longer appears on the Federal Business Opportunities website.)
Is DHS really anticipating civil unrest during election season? Many experts think they are. The Obama team, reported the Huffington Post in June, is already lawyering up: "President Barack Obama's campaign has recruited a legion of lawyers to be on standby for this year's election as legal disputes surrounding the voting process escalate."
If legal remedies stall, will riots break out? (And if they do, are the 450 million .40 caliber hollow-point bullets purchased by the Department of Homeland Security in March part of the plan to control the crowds?)
Rest assured, if civil unrest does occur, you don't want to be out and about. Hunkering down in the safety of your own home, if at all possible, is the smartest way to weather the crisis. Depending on your location, going to work or sending the kids to school can be risky. No, you don't even want to go out for groceries... so make sure you have at least one month's supply of emergency dehydrated food.
Even if these crises fail to materialize, one thing IS for sure...
The U.S. corn crop leaves hungry consumers in the dust
The news reports about this year's corn crop don't even begin to describe the truly appalling devastation to U.S. agriculture. Over half of all the counties in the United States have been declared natural disaster areas because of drought and scorching heat.
Here in Illinois , you wouldn't necessarily know it to look at it. Many of our cornfields actually look pretty good. Much of the corn is, amazingly, still green. Unless you take a close look, you'd think everything was hunky dory. But examine a corn stalk closely, and you're in for a nasty surprise -- because much of the corn this year never pollinated. Pollination is a fragile process that requires temperatures and moisture within a narrow range... and the extreme weather this summer short-circuited pollination for million of acres of corn. When corn doesn't pollinate, it doesn't produce food. And because corn is in almost every kind of packaged or processed food, because it's used in ethanol production and as cattle feed, demand will far exceed supply. Prices are already spiking in response. And that's just corn. We haven't even mentioned all the other crops that were affected.
Some experts are quietly starting to quietly utter two frightening words: "dust bowl." The 1930's Dust Bowl has been referred to as "the most extreme natural disaster in 350 years." Malnutrition and starvation were rampant. Are we ready for another one? If a 21st century dust bowl is imminent, what are your contingency plans to feed your family?
Connecting the dots... and preparing your family
We're glad to hear that FEMA is being proactive with emergency food rations. Everyone should prepare--even if they're not exactly sure what they're preparing for. Most Americans assume the government will step in during any disaster and "bail them out" -- with food, water, and supplies. But as we've learned the hard way, only bankers and car manufacturers get bailed out. The rest of us are left to drown, starve, or get shot, as were the thousands of victims of Hurricane Katrina in 2005. Even with the latest order of 17.5 million emergency meals, it's not nearly enough.

That's why YOU need to prepare. If you haven't started on your emergency food supplies, why not start with a simple, one-month supply? You'll find all the details here. If you do have emergency food on hand, it's still a smart idea to add more. For complete information about the best-tasting, most space-efficient long term food storage, click here . At the moment, we're fully stocked, and we'll rush your order to you right away. But don't delay. Who knows what's right around the corner?
Sincerely,
Bill Heid, President
