How Did God's People Deal With Evil King Jer oboam ?

Common Sense Commentary: Jeroboam was the illegitimate, impostor king who gained the throne over 10 of the 12 tribes of Israel by conspiracy and popular vote, and divided the kingdom. He abused and misused his political power, the law of the land and God's people. He ruled by Executive Order as a dictator king. The tribe of Judah and the small tribe of Benjamin remained faithful to the LORD who directed and blessed them against King Jeroboam and the ten other tribes of Israel who had gone astray from God to worship man-made gods.

"Yet Jeroboam the son of Nebat ... is risen up, and hath rebelled against his lord. And there are gathered unto him vain men, the children of Belial, and have strengthened themselves ....And now ye think to withstand the kingdom of the LORD ... and ye be a great multitude, and there are with you golden calves, which Jeroboam made you for gods. But as for us, the LORD is our God, and we have not forsaken him .... And, behold, God himself is with us for our captain ....." 2 Chron. 13:6-12.

And so it was and so it is that this illegitimate, impostor king, son of Nebat and Dingbat stole the throne of the nation which God had established for His own purposes. This son of  'Belial' (worthless, reckless, lawless), first surrounded himself with a multitude of other vain men, the children of Belial, (worthless, reckless, lawless) and they strengthened themselves and thought to withstand the kingdom of the LORD .... and they were a great multitude , and they worshiped the golden calves ... the gods of Liberal Socialism which Jeroboam had created for them and had forsaken the God of their fathers ... Jehovah, who is still and forever our God and Captain.

"But Jeroboam caused an ambushment to come about behind them (Judah): so they were before Judah, and the ambushment was behind them. And when Judah looked back, behold, the battle was before and behind: and they cried unto the LORD, and the priests sounded with the trumpets. Then the men of Judah gave a shout: and as the men of Judah shouted, it came to pass, that God smote Jeroboam and all Israel before Abijah and Judah. And the children of Israel fled before Judah: and God delivered them into their hand. And Abijah and his people slew them with a great slaughter: so there fell down slain of Israel five hundred thousand chosen men. Thus the children of Israel were brought under at that time, and the children of Judah prevailed, because they relied upon the LORD God of their fathers." 2 Chron. 2:13-18.  Yes, they "relied upon the LORD God of their fathers", but "faith without works is dead" (Jm.2:20) so they put feet to their prayers with swords in their hands. Let's hear some shouts, some trumpets and some .... "fervent activity" from God's people. .... today. RB
