Human Condition Can Not Change Without Christ
Many humans know the problem but not the remedy
That too has always been the case.
Marcus Tullius Cicero was a Roman statesman, lawyer, scholar, and philosopher, who tried to uphold civil principles during the political crises that led up to the establishment of the Roman Empire .... 2065 years ago.
Though Cicero was not a Christian or a Jew, but a Roman, he had managed to cultivate a lot of commendable elements of good character ... in difficult times (43BC). This is reflected in some of his famous comments which are just as pertinent today. Here are a few of them.
More law ... less justice.
The safety of the people shall be the highest law.
The greatest pleasures are only narrowly separated from disgust.
Glory follows virtue as if it were its shadow.
Any man can make mistakes, but only an idiot persists in his error.
An unjust peace is better than a just war.
The life of the dead is placed in the memory of the living.
Gratitude is not only the greatest of virtues; but the parent of all the others.
If you have a garden and a library, you have everything you need.
This last quote ... before supermarkets, TV, radio etc. was so true back in 43BC ... and very well may be true again ... very soon right here in America. Those little vegitable seed packs could make a big difference if America doesn't turn back to God and His word. (RB)
