Is America Today, Truly A Christian Nation ?

Common Sense Commentary: Anyone who knows anything about American history, knows that our country was mostly settled by Christians longing to be free and almost all of our founding fathers were Christians too.  Scripture verses have long been engraved on our "Hallowed Halls" in D.C. Most great universities started as Christian Colleges and we have more "Christian" churches than any country on earth ... but are they "Biblically Christian" today... honestly "Christian"?  Harvard, Yale and Columbia are obviously no longer "Christian" and frankly, before God, most churches are not either.  If "A child is known by his doings" Pr.20:11, "A tree is known by its fruit"  Lk.6:44, and "A prophet is known by his prophecy" Jer.28:9, a church is known by its"doings" and its "message" .  If  it exalts Christ,  brings souls to Him, preaches His Word, and basically lives  what it preaches, it may be known as "Christian" but if it does not, it is not .  So, the question is not what America once was but "what is it today"?

When President Obama said to a Muslim audience, "America is not a Christian nation", he was saying, it never has been.  He was wrong.  We have Constitutional, Bill of Rights Freedom of Religion because our Christian Founders knew people had to be free to choose or reject Christ and the Holy Bible. A person cannot be forced by law to be a Christian as Muslims have historically been, but must "freely" accept Christ by their own will, or they cannot be truly Christian: But that "Freedom of Religion" resulted in millions of Christian conversions for nearly two hundred years in this wonderful country and it was, indeed, "Christian America".  In my humble opinion, that phrase is no longer true but an "oxymoron", which means, "a combination of contradictory words such as cruel kindness", a contradiction of terms.  There isn't another country in the world that can claim to be a "Christian Nation" though all of them have many or at least some true Christians.

What is undeniably true is, from our Pilgrim Fathers and Founding Fathers through W.W.II and up until recent years, America could have been, generally, said to be a "Christian Nation" more than any other.  It was built on Christian Principles and was led by men, Christian or not, who believed in those principles ... the Constitution. I have always been a proud, flag waving American.... but, I am not proud of what our precious land has become.  I regret it and despise what evil men have done to her and what greedy and ignorant men and women have allowed them to do, indeed, have demanded that they do if they want to be re-elected.

Many of the "Greatest Generation" came home from W.W.II and spoiled  their "Baby Boomer" children who grew up greedy and materialistic and produced the Hippie "Beat Generation" who in turn, reared what they now call the "X Generation".  X sometimes means "an unknown quantity".  We don't yet know whether X means "STOP", "DO NOT", "X where treasure is", "X-rated" or "Christos" as in Xmas. Of course, it may mean "NOTHING", but we are approaching a new dispensation in America and the world.  Will it be the "Xed Out Generation" full of "Unknown" Difficulties  or the "Christos Generation" when the Xed Out Christos of Xmas returns to earth for His own?  We can't know for sure but one thing we can know"When these things begin to come to pass, THEN look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh." Lk.21:28.

Pass it on. RB
