AUDACITY Of Greed

Common Sense Commentary: "Crime, once exposed, has no refuge but in audacity.”Tacitus, Annals   Audacity... where have I heard that word?

Tacitus is generally considered to be Rome's greatest historian.   His chronological "Annals", of the Roman Emperors, are important to Christians because they record the crucifixion of Jesus Christ by Pontius Pilate. RB

William Playfair was aptly named.  He had an honest awareness of the common abuses of power by politics, business, and even in religion.  The ugly fact is, power almost always corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely.  Playfair summed it up when he said, "Power has always sought the readiest road to wealth by attacking those in possession of it."

       Lusty Greed Always Returns__
                          Rayburn Blair

Lust for more and more may pay
In a short lived and selfish way

But the tide of fate always turns
And starving lust never learns

That greed's hot hunger for relief
Which causes others so much grief

Returns to devour with sharper teeth
As a bigger, stronger, meaner thief.

"But seek ye first, the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you." Jesus said it in Matt.6:33.
