There Are Children Of Light And Children Of Darkness

Common Sense Commentary:  There are some people who look entirely normal ...real human beings.  They speak, smile and frown.  They have eyes, ears and noses like my Conservative, patriotic, all American friends .... but there is something missing. It's not just the difference in believers and non-believers.  There are non-believers who are none-the-less solid, sensible, intelligent patriots with good judgement.  And, some of these "other" people are "professing" Christians .... and maybe a few are save ... but  something vital is still missing.  It's not just the difference the Holy Spirit makes in people but something intangible.  It's more like they are a different species than the kind of people I relate to.  They seemingly think in a totally opposite way than I ... like 2+3 is 23... as if one of us is an alien from another planet.  Since I don't believe in aliens, I must not be the one who is one.  Who are those people who still believe Obama is both qualified and doing a good job?  Help me here.

Maybe this will help ... maybe not.

The Children Of Light:

John 12:36 "While ye have light, believe in the light, that ye may be the children of light."


Ephesians 5:8 " For ye were sometimes (once were) darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light."


1 Peter 2:9 "But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light"


1 Thessalonians 5:5 "Ye (Christians) are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness."


The Children Of Darkness:


Psm. 82:5    "They know not, neither will they understand; they walk on in darkness: (and) all the foundations of the earth are out of course"....(to their way of thinking)


Psalms 107:10 "Such as sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, being bound in affliction and iron."  (slaves to their delusion).


Psalms 107:14 "He (God) brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death, and brake their bands in sunder." (Even deluded people can be converted to the light).

Proverbs 2:13  "Who leave the paths of uprightness, to walk in the ways of darkness."  (Nothing seems to convince them to walk in the light).


Proverbs 4:19 "The way of the wicked is as darkness: they know not at what they stumble." (They just cannot comprehend why they are so angry, miserable and blind).

 
Isaiah 5:20 "Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!"  (Their thoughts are so twisted and contradictory to reality that they lie when the truth would do them more good).


Nahum 1:8  "Darkness shall pursue his (God's) enemies."  (Maybe that is the answer)


 Matthew 6:23 "But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light (your understanding) that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness!"  (How do you help people like that... who want nothing of Jesus or God)


Luke 11:35 "Take heed therefore that the light which is in thee be not darkness."
(If you are absolutely certain neither the Bible, God, nor Jesus are real, take heed)


John1:5 "And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not."
(God's light of truth shines day and night... upon you. Stop, look up, pray, believe)

John 8:12  "Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life." (You are not beyond hope ... as long as you have the least desire to be right with God)


Isaiah 42:7 "To open the blind eyes, to bring out the prisoners from the prison, and them that sit in darkness out of the prison house." (God can ... and will forgive you and save you from darkness)


John 12:35 "Then Jesus said unto them, Yet a little while is the light with you. Walk while ye have the light, lest darkness come upon you: for he that walketh in darkness knoweth not whither he goeth."  ( Accept this moment of opportunity... Now....)


John 12:46 "I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness."  (This is the whole purpose of the Bible and Jesus' coming into this world.... to enlighten us, cleanse us and redeem us from the darkness of error)


Acts 26:18 "To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me."  ("To open their eyes", your eyes ... and to "turn you from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God)


Romans 13:12 "The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light." (Time is short, Anti-Christ is arising, Jesus is returning to rapture his own out of this sin darkened earth)

 2 Corinthians 4:6  "For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ."  (This moment, God's light has shined upon your heart ... Open your heart to him right now and receive this light to drive out the darkness.  Darkness is nothing but the absence of light)
 
2 Corinthians 6:14 "Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?"  (You cannot break away on your own but that is what Jesus is all about... He can do it ... and will ... if you will say "Yes Lord")


Ephesians 5:11 "And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them." (Now, if the light is truly, now, in you, take your stand with Jesus)


Ephesians 6:12   "For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places." (Only God Himself can deliver any of us from the powers and rulers of darkness)


1 John 1:5 "This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all."  (That is my message)

Receiving the true light of Jesus Christ is as simple as switching on a lamp.  He did the hard part.... and died on the cross .... paying for our sin darkened souls. Simply ask Him to shine his light into your heart, repent of your sins and accept his death to cover your sins and guilt.  Then thank Him for saving your soul. Believe it. RB
