Need An Apology? .... Or Is It Forgiveness?

Common Sense Commentary: Wanting forgiveness is easy. Giving it is usually far more difficult. Wanting an apology is common. Giving an apology is far less so. These things are determined by the measure of love you have for God and for others, and the depth of our humility.

Most people, nowadays, seem to find it difficult to apologize for their own offences to others, but quickly see and resent offences to themselves. At the same time we overlook our own mistakes and sins .... we have exceptional vision in seeing the mistakes and sins of others. We will put off apologizing for a lifetime while carrying a truck load of unforgiveness for someone else's offence toward us.

If forgiveness of our offences and sins rested upon the fleshly nature of other people's willingness to forgive .... we would all go to hell.

The fact is, we human beings can both apologize for, and forgive others for insults, accidents, misunderstandings, ignorance, ill manners and such, but only God can forgive sins. We all have need of His forgiveness, which is easy and instant from Him .... if we simply ask. It isn't that easy with people.

"When Jesus saw their faith, he said unto the sick of the palsy, Son, thy sins be forgiven thee. But there were certain of the scribes sitting there, and reasoning in their hearts, Why doth this man thus speak blasphemies? who can forgive sins but God onlyAnd immediately when Jesus perceived in his spirit that they so reasoned within themselves, he said unto them, Why reason ye these things in your hearts? Whether is it easier to say to the sick of the palsy, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Arise, and take up thy bed, and walk?" Mark 2:5-9.
