Worry Does Not Change Past Or Future, But Ruins Sleep And Health Today

A high price to pay for a little bit of nothing...

People are inclined to worry, fear and regret, and therefore, when they cannot reconcile a thing, devise short little adages to bridge the crevices. "That's water under the bridge", "Long gone and forgotten", "Here today gone tomorrow"," Live and learn", "Get over it. Average people probably worry more about money, relationships, reputations, spiritual matters, the past and the future than anything else. It makes sense to worry about sin, but a lot of Christians are still worrying about sin long repented of and forgiven by the Lord. Worrying about forgiven sin is self-destructive.

Continued anguish over forgiven sin is futile.
Weep over and repent of past sins. Then forget the regrettable. There is a good reason forgiven sin is not coming back....
"I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more." Jer. 31:34.  Even God forgets it.

Do not live in dreams of the future.
Anticipate God's grace for a brighter future but focus on the present and get it right.

"Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof. " Jesus (Matt.6:34).

Do not live in memories of the past.
If you are stuck in a mud hole of bad memories, the only escape is to raise your head above it, look up and then look forward, now move forward to a new road, a new beginning, a better life. Jesus said...
"Come unto me, all ye that labor and heavy laden, and I will give you rest." Matt.11:28.

Leave bad memories, failures, and losses at the foot of the cross.
As one broken heart finally said of the memory, "You're just another story I can't tell anymore". Put it in the past so it doesn't rob you of your wonderful future.
"But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you." 1 Pet.5:10.

Yield to God's Spirit and think good thoughts.
Selective memory is not bad if you remember what you are grateful for and forget what you are not. If you have confessed it all to God and asked forgiveness, write it on a piece of paper and drop it in the garbage. It's gone ... forever.

"... Whatsoever things are true ... honest ... just ... pure ... lovely ... of good report ... virtue ... praise, think on these things." Phil. 4:8.

If you must worry, let it be about things you can change today. Yesterday is sealed; Tomorrow is always a day away.
The past is written in indelible ink; the future in invisible ink.
"It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows: for so he giveth his beloved sleep." Psm. 127:2

To not accept God's peace, over forgiven sin, is unbelief, and unbelief is also a sin.
Apologize for your mistakes, pray for forgiveness of your sins and then leave it in the past for the bitter and unforgiving to stew over.

"Be careful (full of care) for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God." Phil. 4:6

"Rest in the LORD and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself...." Psm.37:7

"As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he (God) removed our transgressions from us." Psm.103:12.

"He (God) will have compassion upon us; he will subdue our iniquities; and ... cast all (our) sins into the depths of the sea." Micah 7:19

"I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more." Jer. 31:34.

Those are more than just words, they are eternal promises of God to all who will accept them.
