#2 -Christ Claimed I AM The Way The Truth And The Life

No man cometh to the Father but by me.

God gave Moses His most revealing name in Ex.3: 13-14,   "I AM that I AM".   (See my previous post).  1500 years later He gave the world of people His own presence among them, in human form, in the person of Jesus Christ.     "Christ Jesus ...Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:  But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:  And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross." Phil.2:5-8.  He could only die with a human body of flesh.

So God took on a human body and made a physical entrance into the world for the purpose of revealing Himself, and His will, to us and then laying down that body on the cross to die, in our place and for our sins.

As God, in the flesh, Jesus Christ claimed the "I AM" title name when He told the Jews, when they questioned if He were their Messiah, told them,   "I and my Father are one". John 10:3.   And when Philip asked Him to show them the Father, Jesus answered,    "... He that hath seen me hath seen the Father."  John 14:9.   Jesus told his Apostles he was going away, to heaven, to prepare a place for his disciples and would return one day to take them there, and that they already knew the way. Doubting Thomas responded that they didn't know where he was going and how could they know the way.  To which Jesus answered,   "I am the way, the truth and the life."    John 14:6.  The "the" in Jesus' words is called "a definite article", and means one of a kind, a singularly, unique person, place or thing. As in Eph. 4:4-6.   "Endeavor to keep the unity of the Spirit ... One Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all who is above all, and through all, and in you all."   Spoken to believers.  There is one, unique unity of one unique Spirit, one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God the Father. There are not two of any of these. There is just one Holy Spirit, one Lord Jesus Christ, one saving faith one true baptism (Water baptism is a type and picture of spiritual baptism) and one God the Father. That one Holy Spirit works in and through Christians, the one Lord Jesus, was also the Word of God ...   "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God .... All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life; and the life was the light of men.... That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world. He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.... He came unto his own, and his own received him not. But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

In Gen.1 when God said, "Let there be" seven times, it was his Word, Christ, who went out and fulfilled God the Father's commands.

Jesus is The Living Word of God and is revealed in the written word of God as The Way, The Truth, and The Life, and no one can come unto God The Father except they be drawn by the Holy Spirit of God, through faith in The Son of God, Jesus Christ.

Christ is indeed The I AM, The Way, The Truth, and The Life and no one has access to the Father but by and through Him.
