An Alternative To Boy Scouts Opening Ranks To Openly Gay

Common Sense Commentary: I was once a Boy Scout and learned a great deal about
America, camping, and character building stuff.  All of that information and the example our Scoutmasters set for the troop, was beneficial to me for the rest of my life. Now, our America is not the same country it was back then. Breaking the foundational laws of our country, the U.S. Constitution, is now being done almost weekly by our president and our Congress seems to go right along with it. Camping out was one of the most enjoyable things a boy could do, back then, and it didn't cost a cent, when I was a Scout. None of us had sleeping bags or special camping equipment. We used an old, worn-out blanket with our shoes as a pillow. Our troop had several old black skillets and dented-up pans,  to cook with, and old tin plates to eat off of.  Two or three of the rich boys had canteens and scout hats and neckerchiefs which served to identify all of us as real Boy Scouts, when we marched to the edge of town to camp out under the thorny Mesquite trees, among the grass burrs, rattle-snakes, scorpions and mosquitoes.... but we loved it.  In those days, homosexuals dared not try to become a Scoutmaster and I never met a Boy Scout who fit the description, in any way. It was unheard of. In the 1930's and 40's, in Sweetwater Texas, 99% of the boys I knew were suntanned, barefoot, scruffy and tough as nails. All of us had scars and callouses and were skinny and hungry. I only remember one fat boy in our school and he was no "sissy".  We bathed once a week with cold water and lie soap in a wash-tub hardly big enough to sit in.  We did swim in the brown water of a cow tank (pond) and drank the water with the cows who were standing in it. Those kind of boys later won World War II and are now known as "The Greatest Generation".  They are about all gone now .... as is the toughness, moral code and iron character  developed in them by the Boy Scouts Of America ... which is also dying.  If you didn't live through all the changes, it might not be so important to you, but I knew America and the Boy Scouts when our leaders had a deep love for both and most had moral standards dating back to our founding fathers. Both America and the Boy Scouts, and even most churches today, have gone a long way down the descending path to ignominy and self destruction.  So do we give up? No, what we do is ....."Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore .... Eph. 6:13-14. Trail Life USA is the Christian alternative to the BSA

From the American Family Association

AFA is proud to support a new outdoor adventure program for boys as an alternative to the Boy Scouts of America (BSA). In May, the BSA voted to begin allowing open and avowed homosexuals into its ranks, leading to a mass exodus of families looking to protect their sons.
The new group, Trail Life USA, was unveiled publicly for the first time on September 6 in Nashville, TN, to more than 1,200 former Scoutmasters, Eagle Scouts, parents, church leaders and former Boy Scouts of America professionals who attended the inaugural Leadership Convention.
Trail Life USA is a Christian adventure, character, and leadership movement for young men. The K-12 program centers on outdoor experiences that build a young man’s skills and allow him to grow on a personal level and as a role model and leader for his peers. Living the Trail Life is a journey established on timeless values derived from the Bible.
"It's God-honoring. It's Christ-centered," says AFA's Randy Sharp, who attended the convention. "We got a sneak peek at some of the curriculum and handbook material. We were thrilled to find the margins of some pages containing scripture for the boys to read, to meditate on, and to memorize." (See story at OneNewsNow)
TAKE ACTION
Trail Life USA is worthy of your support. Please take a few moments to look over their website and watch the introductory video.
If your family is looking for an alternative to the BSA, I strongly recommend Trail Life USA.

Sincerely,

Tim

Here is the full context of the verse above, in my Common Sense Commentary: RB  Ephesians 6:12-18

"For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints ...."
