The Special Significance Of This 777th Post On Common Sense Commentary
Common Sense Commentary: This is the 777th published post on my Common Sense Commentary. So what is the special importance of 777 posts? The number 7 is very significant in the Bible. "Seven" or "seventh" is found nearly 600 times in Old and New Testaments. Whereas, the number "six" or "sixth" is used only about 240 times and the number "eight" or "eighth" is found about 100 times. That is a very significant fact. Seven means something special in the Bible. From Genesis 2:3, where we see it as a number blessed and sanctified, "And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made" On to Noah and the Ark in Gen.8:4 where it ends seven months of rough sailing and trials, "And the ark rested in the seventh month ... upon the mountains of Ararat." Then in Exodus 20:8-10 when God gave a Stop work and Rest commandment , "Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: "But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God....". Seven was also a number of victory in Joshua 3:3-6 where God had His people march around Jericho every day for seven days and on the seventh day march around it seven times and on the seventh time, the seven Priests leading the parade would blow seven trumpets and the walls would fall down...and they did. To shorten this, jump all the way to the Revelation where you will find 7 golden candlesticks, 7 stars, 7 angels, 7 churches, 7 trumpets, 7 vials, 7 spirits, 7 lamps of fire, 7 seals, 7 horns, 7 eyes, 7 horns, 7 thunders, 7 crowns, 7 heads, 7 plagues, 7 mountains and 7 kings. Seven is the number of perfection in the bible. So what does all that have to do with this 777th post and what is the special significance of this 777th post.... Not a single thing. RB
