Tell Me Please, If Christians Do Not Speak Up For Christ And Truth... Who Will?

Common Sense Commentary:  I am not suggesting that we constantly insert ourselves in every conversation, talk over other people or dominate the conversation. But when we see or hear injustice, abuse, lying, or ridiculous statements about God's word or important truths, Christians should simply speak up with humility and respect to others.... but speak up. Ignorance will only spread like a disease and never be silenced without the application of the healing truth. Ignorance invariably leads to bondage. Truth is the only remedy for lies and ignorance.
"And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." John 8:32.  But how shall the lost world and the millions of voices of  ignorance and untruths hear the truth without a witness.  As a Christian and a lifetime student of God's word, the Bible, I believe my primary ministry is to speak, preach, teach and witness the gospel, truth, logic and reason that those in darkness might see the light and that other Christians might be moved to do the same......

And many of the brethren in the Lord, waxing confident by my bonds, are much more bold to speak the word without fear." Phil.1:14.

I received a note this week from a former member of the church I pastored for many years. This lady and her husband are Christians who have raised some fine children, built a successful business, worked hard and never quit. They love our country and go the extra mile for others. She writes of her desire to be a better spokesperson for Christ and the truth, in general. Maybe you can relate to her new motivation to be a faith witness and a vocal advocate of the truth ... in whatever area. Here is her note....

Just wanted you to know that you have inspired me to speak up and have courage….and to quit worrying whether I’m offending someone.  Of course, I know there is a way the Lord wants us to stand up for Him, I've never been an “in your face” sort of person.  But then, neither are you.  But, the time has come in my life to be a “Big Girl” and start defending my faith…because the so called Political Correctness police are rampant right now.  I wonder sometimes if the LORD stands over us shaking his head at the absolute absurdity of the world right now.  Thanks for letting me vent today. God Bless You!!

And the LORD said unto Moses, Wherefore criest thou unto me? speak unto the children of Israel, that they go forward: Ex. 14:15.  In this verse the LORD is telling Moses it's time to do something besides pray ... take action and speak up for the truth. Step out by faith, in front of the people, and lead them forward.

I have heard the murmurings of the children of Israel: speak unto them.... Ex.14:15. God's people had backslidden, gone astray and became negative and critical of God's commands and God's man. God did not tell Moses to get angry or abandon the people but to ""Speak unto them". Tell them the truth whether they like it or not. This is our calling also.

If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God.... 1 Pet.4:11. The word "oracle" means inspiration, revelation or word of God. In other words, speak with the authority of the scriptures, its principles and teachings... but speak.

Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour.... Eph.4:25. Stop going along with public policy, political party line, false doctrine, political correctness and socially acceptable blabber.
Speak up and tell the truth.

For which I am an ambassador in bonds: that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak. Eph.6:20.  We are ambassadors of Christ. Our calling is to represent Him, speak for Him, be faithful to Him. Whatever people think of us.

Withal praying also for us, that God would open unto us a door of utterance, to speak the mystery of Christ, for which I am also in bonds. That I may make it manifest, as I ought to speakCol.4:3-4. Let us pray for each other that we might be as the Apostle Paul ... "That God would open unto us a door of utterance, to speak ...."

So likewise ye, except ye utter by the tongue words easy to be understood, how shall it be known what is spoken? for ye shall speak into the air. 1 Cor.14:9  Speak plainly, simply but with sincerity and passion that the hearers might know this is what you truly believe with all your heart and want the truth to be known. Speak up .... or they may never know !!

And now, Lord, behold their threatenings: and grant unto thy servants, that with all boldness they may speak thy word.... Acts 4:29.  Nothing will so influence the unbelieving, the heretic, the politically ignorant and the politically correct as the outspoken, passionate and sincere Christian witness.

Then spake the Lord to Paul in the night by a vision, Be not afraid, but speak, and hold not thy peace: Acts 18:9.

When you speak and give witness, think of Jesus not the person's reaction or what they think of you. You are, as a Christian, are God's ambassador in this world. Speak what He gives you to speak. RB
