A Ruined Nation Arose From The Ashes To Greatness

Youth, don't think God Can't Use You Among The Ruins...

A former member, Dominie Bush, of the church I founded and pastored in Florida for 30 years, wrote on Facebook recently, this observation...

Been thinking about how much self-rejection and even self-hatred there is in our society now. No one seems content, happy or joyful. Women want to be men; men want to be women; children want to be adults; adults want to be children; women are killing their babies while others long to be pregnant; teens and ladies wear makeup so drastic it looks like a mask to conceal how they really look; brunettes want to be blondes and vice versa; women with curly hair want straight hair and vice-versa; people don't like the race they were born with; single people want to be married and vice versa; people aren't content with their size and naturally "fluffy" people are using grueling exercises and diets to try for a whole different body shape; and somehow it's wrong to love your country and want to make it great, all the while idolizing other cultures who adhered to their identities. What a mixed-up world. "But godliness with contentment is great gain" (1 Timothy 6:6).

My Comment (RB)
There was another such time as this when a great nation slid from its greatness into mediocrity, ruled over by self-centered elitists lusting for power, position, and wealth. King Saul, and his henchmen, though greedy and cruel would have considered themselves "Patriots" though they loved themselves more that God or God's people. But God had a new king in the making, being hounded by King Saul, young David was forced into hiding ... awaiting the Lord's direction for his life and the nation. As David waited upon the Lord, there began to gather unto him men with little to offer. They were, themselves, "in distress", "in debt", and "in discontent". But as Evangelist Bob Jones told the students at Bob Jones University, many years ago, "God isn't looking for ability but for availability". That is all these first recruits in David's mighty army had to give at that time. They were available, and became the foundation of this future king's kingdom, which rose up amidst treasonous insiders, and a host of pagan kings surrounding his nation. So one of the greatest kingdoms in history, ruled over by King Solomon, David's son, began with David's 400 distressed, indebted and discontented flotsam and jetsam followers. So David raised an army when it was needed, won back the nation, and then the wise King Solomon raised up a high-tech nation and world power for good unequaled in history.

America needs another David. Surely God has another somewhere. Where are you shepherd boy? Rise up!
In that unfolding process of human greatness, David was even assisted by the pagan king of Moab.

"David therefore departed thence, and escaped to the cave Adullam: and when his brethren and all his father's house heard it, they went down thither to him.
And every one that was in distress, and every one that was in debt, and every one that was discontented, gathered themselves unto him; and he became a captain over them: and there were with him about four hundred men.
And David went thence to Mizpeh of Moab: and he said unto the king of Moab, Let my father and my mother, I pray thee, come forth, and be with you, till I know what God will do for me." 1 Samuel 22:1-3.
