The Folly Of Self-Righteous Salvation

Common Sense Commentary:  Self-righteous (good works) Salvation is not only unscriptural, it is totally illogical and opposite to reason.

"For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:  Not of works, lest any man should boast." Eph.2:8-9

To believe you can lose your salvation requires the accompanying notion that you, in some way, previously, earned it and deserve it by your own superior goodness. To lose it would indicate that your level of goodness was no longer sufficient to retain it. So that kind of "salvation" is in the hands of the individual, not Christ. The truth of the matter is that the most holy moment you ever managed to conjure up was light years short of the mark of deserving God's love, forgiveness and salvation.... Christ. Even if you could live one single split second of perfect holiness, which your theory requires, you couldn't live in such a state of worthiness long enough to stay saved more than that one second ... which no human flesh can accomplish anyway, and you know it.

If  self-righteous salvation had been God's plan, He would not have sent His only begotten Son into the world to lay down His life to pay our sin debt... which God knew we could never pay for on our own merit. No! Self-righteous salvation, besides being total heresy requires it's adherents to finally delude themselves into a false confession of personal holiness in spite of the constant contradictions and betrayals of their own sinful flesh. Not to mention the constant convictions of the Holy Spirit of God that they are, in truth, lying sinners in need of the grace of God through faith in Jesus Christ for cleansing and forgiveness of their sinful self.

If it were at all possible for a person to live good enough to be saved or stay saved, Christ would not have gone to the cross.

For Jesus' sake and your own eternal soul, turn your back on such heresy. RB

Hebrews 10:29 "Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?"

We are set free. Galatians 5:1 "Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage (rules, regulations, slavery).
